I am determined to watch ALL of your demonstration videos. It is a joy to watch how gentle and loving you are when playing an organ and how, when demonstrating the various colors, you draw them with respect and - through your wonderful improvisations - give us a chance to hear how they sound in the building. Thank you, and Bravo!
This has to be one of the best organs in NYC, and likely the whole east coast. It is fabulous and it speaks with delightful authority (and a fantastic accent).
Thank you, Meister. There may have been others, but this is the most comprehensive and decent airing of this fine organ that I have heard. Each and every one of your musical phrases in demonstration is a masterpiece of improvisation in miniature. Bravo!
Thank you Colin!
I had read about this instrument before and heard clips of it and I could tell it was an incredible instrument. I really appreciate how I was able to hear a great demonstration of all the different sounds of this organ. It is a French inspired instrument, but you demonstrated how it is versatile with all kinds of repertoire. Thank you for this wonderful demonstration!
Finally!! An organ which has a building with the acoustics to do it justice!
Fabulously beautiful. Thank you so much.
The complete pipe organ, superb voicing, responsive mechanicals ,and a decent acoustic . Well done Meister Mander. the Organist is most professional !
The pedal Bombard is equal to Saint Ouen in Rouen. Such musical marvels are rarely made in the 21st Century..
I got there in 2005 when Renee Anne Louprette took me up to the gallery. It was an incredible experience to play there. You made a great demonstration of this beauty!
Probably my favorite organ in all of NYC.
Absolutely agree. Not the biggest but IMO the finest. Sort of Rolls Royce and Bentley all in a singular package.
Nice demonstration of a great sounding organ.
What a wonderful instrument in a beautiful setting.
The reeds and the mixtures sounded wonderful in that organ
The 32' Contre Bombarde, and both the 16' Bombarde and Bason 16' in the pedal played together would be superbly resounding!
Instrument is truly wonderful as is the demonstration. The thought of the Liturgy fills me with horror and so do all those TV monitors on the pillars.
Beautiful. I hope to find a complete concert on this instrument!
Merci Bàlint pour toutes ces démonstrations d'orgues toujours très intéressantes et variées.
Superb demonstration of this magnificent instrument. Many thanks!!!
A true historic treasure...dts/usa
This wonderful performance speaks to the soul, and promotes spilitual uplift and awakening, and activates the soul
Love this instrument! ❤
I'd love to hear the reeds alone. They don't ALWAYS need a 4' something with them. Otherwise, I love your videos!
Beautiful pronunciation
What a splendid instrument with clarity and textures that reach into one’s soul. My thanks to Mr. Karosi and to the parish.
That chimney flute is lovely
...wonderful demonstration. The instrument sounds voiced very well for performance of "French baroque/classical" literature even though there are two enclosed Recit divisions. I particularly love the Cornets, Vox Humana and Bombardes.
In the specifications it lists a suspended mechanical; key action and also includes the Effet d'orage ("thunder effect").
Next time I visit New York will have to try and hear this instrument live.
Shocked that Scott let you play it.
What great sounding instrument! Thanks for the demo.
love the reed stops on this organ !
Great organ for to write new music for organ with pipes
This organ should be sampled if you ask me. Incredible.
Büszke vagyok Magára... Magyar orgonaművész NYban ... Várom a szeptember 23-i koncertet a Karmelita Kolostorban
What a great instrument! Thank! 😊
Excellent video! Beautiful organ and the improvisations are a delight! Excellent recording too - clear and crisp on my system. Great audio/video engineering. Thank you for this video!
Wonderful instrument, beautifully demonstrated. Thank you very much.
STUNNING video! Superb demonstration of that very fine Mander on Park Avenue. Hollywood studio like camera sharpness and overall production, beautifully recorded and if I may ask, what camera/cameras were used?
BRAVO!
Balint, this video is fantastic, as we have come to expect. The "audition" is always a masterclass in contrapuntal improvisation! I've never had the pleasure of hearing St. Ignatius in person, but it's interesting to hear how many similarities it has to our instrument here in Birmingham (for obvious reasons). Cheers, and keep up the great work.
Awesome!
Yes. What a joy
Absolutely beautiful!
Bravo!
Awesome show of a majestic organ! 👌🇳🇱 🇺🇸
Thanks!
Thank you, greatly appreciated! Balint
Greetings from Carinthia (Austria)
👍🙏🙂
Need some background here... Why did a church in New York order a French-style organ from an English builder...?
I should have asked that question!
Exactly what I was thinking before coming to your post, especially when Mander is usually very English back in Britain.😊
Mooi groeten uit Zwolle. Nederland
I'm telling you, Pipe organs are so much fun to play 😆🆒 What about playing the 16' Montre by itself, What would that be like?🙂
Next up: St John the Divine, NYC 🤣
Mander Organs were such a loss when they ceased trading in 2020.
. . . .yes, everything is there , all the standards . . . . all well done and voiced . . . . but it has not a soul☹
I've always said that organs sound like the people who created them, whose singular vision they were. I have met John Mander several times, spent quite a while in his company. Not once have I detected an ounce of passion or humour in the man. He is the very definition of English 'stiff upper lip', reserved to a fault, without any of the bold, strong-minded personality that characterised the Willis family. He was/is a highly diligent craftsman, and nobody could possibly claim this instrument isn't a success (most would argue it is his crowning achievement), but if this organ sounds soulless to you... he's probably why. It's a very, very good organ that does everything incredibly well... but it leaves me strangely unmoved, just as it does for you.
