You can say it’s “inspired” but it’s very hard to ignored the fact that so many of the character personalities are so very similar. And it’s unfair to the writers of B99 that had to actually cultivate their own characters. And it’s particularly annoying part is that I highly doubt this show is going to touch on topics B99 talk abt like Racism, Sexism and LGBTQ rights.
This is really disappointing to watch. It's true that most sitcoms (parks and recs, the office, big bang theory) all follow certain archetypes for their characters (ie. the fish out of water type, the uptight can't catch a break type, the superior who's actually a real softie etc), but this entire narrative is just way too close to Brooklyn 99. Even the character interactions are the same!! Hell, even the episode summary is a copy and paste.
B99 IS the first of its kind if you look at how well they deal with problematic issues in their episodes. Most sitcoms I've seen have a tendency to place LGBT characters in a box, as though their sexuality is the only thing that makes the characters special. But B99 doesn't. Their characters are all equally well-thought out.
And because I have so much respect and admiration for the show, I really hate to see someone else blatantly copying what they've done. You can still take inspiration from a show without lifting their characters entirely.
Personally, I think the premise of this has potential, being in advertising and all. But man, I really can't watch it. The punchlines don't work, and the slapstick is too cringe.

The God Emperor Have you watched Brooklyn 99? The starting is the same, the characters are the same, some of the jokes are the same. It couldn't be more obvious. Don't get me wrong, I usually like their productions, but this just seems suspicious to me.

The fact that Shin wants to befriend Alex.( Jake wanting to be on good terms with Captain Holt ) The competition between Shin and Penny. (That competition at the start of the series between Jake and Amy to see who could solve more cases) The fact that the ‘team’ doesn’t do anything ( Hitchcock and Scully) What’s next? Shin and Penny falling in love?
You guys aren’t even trying not to copy B99. Just admit that this is a much cringy , less funny version of B99. You can’t use the excuse of ‘inspiration’ because you guys practically took B99 and changed it to an Asian cast.

Wow, this is incredibly disappointing to watch, especially when I'm rooting for local content to succeed. Because I'd like to believe that the folks who wrote the script, and the execs who green-lit this series would prefer to rely on their own creativity instead of ripping off Brooklyn 99.
On that note - if you're gonna blatantly plagiarise an existing TV series, perhaps go for one that isn't already pretty well known and popular? You can't even make excuses for this, nor claim that you were "inspired" - not when you practically imprinted the B99 characters onto your local cast (albeit with lamer lines) and even used the same pilot premise.
It was painful to sit through this episode - I kept trying to find something redeeming or unique about it, but let's be honest, yeah? You basically superimposed B99 onto an agency setup (instead of a cop bureau). It's a shame because you have some talented actors involved who now have to deal with this sham of a show on their credits list.
I'm not sure if I can watch this to the last episode, but I suspect it will matter little since the only befitting end to literary theft is a lawsuit with Fox/Universal/TBS.

I’ve been watching Brooklyn 99 this past few weeks n I came across this . Honestly the plot is exactly the same . I’m shook I can’t judge tho .
My only issue is with the audio. Everything sounds very roomy it's distracting. On a positive note, that bit with Lim Yu Beng in a shampoo commercial was hilarious.

As much of a massive rip-off this show is from Brooklyn 99, the more original moments are genuinely funny. Especially the secretary crush on the sidekick. Plus, since I like Brooklyn 99, even the rip-off parts are must-watch.
