- After living in Australia for almost 6 years, I decided to describe four main reasons why I love Australia and why it is worth moving here.

You know Aussie Girl, I met this Asian girl who spoke with a broad westie accent - about as ocker as you can get. She said to me 'I was Aussie the moment I got of the plane'. That made me feel proud to be an Aussie. So it goes both ways I think and hope.
My great grandfather came out in 1850 after being condemned to death for having a bad political attitude. Forty years later he tried to re-enter Germany as a dying man to say goodbye to his family and friends there. A warrant was immediately issued for his arrest to implement the death by firing squad sentence.
What he wrote at the time was 'I shall return to the Sunny Freedoms of my adopted homeland (Australia)'. That rings in me.
I'm proud of that and proud of you Aussie Girl!

Having been born here seventy years ago, I love this country a little bit more now that you are in it. A belated welcome - I hope we can live up to your expectations.
Please realize that if you are a citizen, you are Australian and not "almost". I don't care what colour, gender, religion or race you are, if you are a citizen, then you are one of us. The best part of Australia is that we are very syncretic. We smoothly take on the best of what new Australians provide from coffee to food. BTW, i love your accent too!

Personally, I agree. People can look like anything, have any accent, but if you're a citizen, you're Aussie. The state I consider "Almost Australian" is someone working towards citizenship, but are not quite naturalised yet. That's an Almost-Australian.

Anyone whinging doesn't deserve to be there. I'm sick so can't even come for a visit and show my kids where I used to live or meet up with old friends again. I miss it so much. xxx

@@LTLT900 They used to be ok. But over the past 5 years, house prices here in Palmerston North have actually doubled. It's disgusting. You can now buy a horrendous hovel for $500,000. Five years ago you could buy a nice house that needed a little paint for $230,000.

The best thing about Australia is the culture immigrants add. After traveling elsewhere now I understand how good our food is and who we have to thank for it.

What I loved about your video is that you are embracing our way of life. We are different, many cultures make up Australia now, that is what makes us so unique and diverse. We all get used to it sooner or later, so I hope you will be able to save for a home and make it your own, and then finally visit all those beautiful places in your video. I lived in Australia for three years when I was really young (12-15) and I so wish I could move back. I love NZ but Australia is my other home. I'm even back in touch with school friends and it's so lovely. Such a beautiful place and beautiful people. Aussie rocks!!!! Glad you are enjoying it. The Nullarbor from Sydney to Perth has been a favourite in recent times!
Before the 80's crossing the nullabor crossing was a real adventure (especially during a torrential downpour)' with over 380 miles of gravel road.
As soon as my tyres hit the dirt road, the rain started (it was late January 1969). Could not go faster than 25 mph (it was 11 o'clock at night).
Passed quite a few vehicles parked on the side of the ride. At about 1 o'clock the head light fuse went so we pulled over.
The best thing about Australia is that it's not the country that you come from , just joking , we are blessed here in gods country , I have been lucky enough to have travelled overseas on 31 different occasions and ican never wait to come home . The air is cleaner , the sky is bluer , the pace is slower and the the people are friendlier than anywhere else that I've been . Sure you can find good things in other countries but we have it all in one continent . Welcome to the lucky country I hope you like us enough to become a citizen

My dad moved to Australia in the 70s, his goal was to originally make money before going back to Yugoslavia but found life here so much easier and better that he stayed.
Tho I would say the hardest thing for me growing up in Australia is needing to correct people on my name due to either spelling or pronunciation....but glad you're loving it here :)

Thank you for your lovely sentiments and atttitude towards this wonderful country. If every migrant that came here had your approach we would not have any issues with new arrivals. Sadly, many refuse to let go of the attitudes and ways they left behind and just end up importing their problems with them.

Australia as one of the richest countries in the world is also one of the cruelest when it comes to the treatment of refugees. No other country has indefinite detention.
Australia is certainly not a welcoming country.
Even if you come from a privileged country and you want to get eg a partner visa, you have to pay thousands of dollars and will have a very hard time with the immigration authorities.

Almost Aussie Girl@ Truely from the heart comments. Both our children have seen snow, yet my wife has not! When she complains about this I tell her it’s 5 minutes of fun followed by 23 hours and 55 minutes of being a pain in the arse. Our son stopped travelling with us until we visited Europe recently as in his words “We had been everywhere in Oz”! You be the judge? I myself have not seen wave rock, White Haven beach or Uluru but have been darn close to two and respect the Aboriginal too much to visit Uluru. The rest are photo memories with our kids of all the other places you mentioned. One of the best being watching continuous whale breaching off the coast of Yallingup WA from a rooftop platform as the sun set following a nieces wedding day, or hand feeding jumping Seal lions off the wharf in Carnarvon WA. The top end is now on my wife’s bucket list as the last part of this continent to visit as we never got passed Mackay, mine would be a skiing holiday in NZ. Enjoy Australia we certainly have and appreciate those that do also! Hey mate, you can visit Uluru, just not climb the sacred rock. The Local Aboriginal Land Council there are putting together tours and things to do around Uluru where you can see the beauty in a respectful way. From a Wiradjuri woman ❤🇦🇺

My Family moved here 1 st of January 1968 I have not left this country since and I would not want to live anywhere else but here.
Welcome and the fact that your are still here after six years shows that you are you here to stay Aussie.
You are another reason why Australia is so awesome. We have people from so many parts of the world. The percentage of people who are first or second generation Australialian is really high so generally speaking all people are accepted. (There are some racist people unfortunately but usually they are in the minority enough to keep their prejudices to themselves). One benefit of multiculturalism is that we have great food from so many different places. Sooo many kinds of restaurants. And coffee snobs generally put the quality of Australian coffee at the top level.

Climate: we do get 4 seasons in one day some times. But never -20 like where you originally came from. I remember a day it was 46 Celsius and then dropped to nice 26, then down to 15 then back up to 24, all in 24 hours. Winter in Western Sydney goes down to 0 at night, whereas the closer you get to Sydney CBD it stays quite mild at around 16, although the rain can cut you like a knife there.
You mentioned beaches, here's a fun fact: Australia has almost 12,000 beaches along it's 60,000-kilometre (37,282-mile) coastline. If you visited one beach per day, it would take you more than 32 years to see them all.
I hope you have plenty of time to do that mate.

Temperature does drop below 6 degrees in Sydney in mid winter. Mainly out west. Add wind chill factor and a new visitor to Sydney will find it very cold.
I will be that annoying guy :-P and say that technically a part of the greater Sydney metro (Blue mountains) has a similar climate to Seattle with one or two snowfalls each year. Thanks for this great video I enjoyed it.

On the Gold Coast, winter is the worst three days of the year.
Luckily, they aren't all in a row, so that's good.
With regards to the weather, most places have 2-4weeks of unbearably cold, that is down to single digits, and 2-4 weeks of unbearably hot, over 30degC. The rest of the time is 15-25degC for those 7 months.

Your reasons match up with mine perfectly. I'd also add that people in Australia just seem healthier compared to Americans here in Northern New England. And it makes sense given the climate here vs there, and the American workaholic culture. I spent a month between December and January traveling from Sydney to Perth and hiked the Perth hills all day in 40C. Found it absolute paradise. Sadly despite my software engineering degree, and that I could get 5 extra points for passing a Bulgarian translator exam, due to my age I still can't quite get enough points for a skilled visa. You don't happen to know any Australian girls who want US citizenship?

Without a doubt one of the things that made this such a pretty good country is people such as yourself; who have come from other places; many with their own challenges and have come to live in tolerance and relative freedom.

The NT is an area I would love to check out...Darwin is a pretty hot and humid locale but I like that kind of climate. From a 65 year old American looking to retire somewhere else. ;o)
@Rick Farrugia Hi Rick. Expensive in Darwin? I would think it would be less expensive than the east coast of Australia. I've checked real estate prices in Darwin and they don't seem to be too outrageous. I like the outdoors and hiking and should plan a trip to Kakadu...It is on my bucket list.

When it comes to the wildlife, for anyone scared of the dangerous things, most of them you don't encounter if you are in the cities or suburbs. I am Aussie-born and over 40, and in my life I have only ever encountered a wild snake once, and dangerous spiders two or three times (I am sure of two redbacks, less sure about the danger of another), and been bitten only by a huntsman (not dangerous). I will qualify, I am very much a city dweller, so people who are in more rural regions may encounter more.
All you need to do is be wary in long grass, dank areas that draw spiders, and in jellyfish season at the beaches. That is the basic life skills of most Aussies, and we get by just fine.
As an aside about seeing wildlife? Even in suburbia, it's possible to see plenty of wild birds around. If you go visit farming areas you're likely to see wild kangaroos (like Bonalbo!), and anywhere there's some trees could have koalas, though they can be a bit hard to see in tall trees.

Freaked out my Kiwi brother in law when he was here by asking him to get rid of the Spider in the bedroom. He went in there bravely and returned white and shaken. It was a Huntsman.
