  • Lacey shares the latest Sweet Cherry plum Cross with Brigid and I. This exciting new addition to the Zaiger program is resulting in unique and undefinable new flavor nuances. Watch Brigid as she experiences her first ever Pluerry at Zaiger Genetics. This is one of many numbered selections being developed but not quite ready for introduction. Do you think Brigid agrees?

I have the candy heart and the sugar twist. My sugartwist looks phenomenal! What didn’t you like about it? My candy heart set one piece of fruit. I had to pick up just a little early because the ants were getting to it still tasted pretty good. The texture looks like a dandy and it was still pretty sweet. It was a nice surprise to see it on there. I stared at it every day.😂

Sugar Twist looks great and the set is tremendous. I just don't think that the flavor is as unique as the other Pluerry's that I am sampling. The sweet cherry influence adds a very a special almost undefinable flavor to each selection. I just don't get it with Sugar Twist.

Can you compare new pluerry harvest time with sweet treat. Candy heart. Sugar twist. Flavor punch ?

This variety is a numbered variety that is going to a commercial grower. As far as the ripening times are concerned this variety comes in on the heels of Sweet Treat and has been eating well since. I am looking at Candy Heart this week but have already seen it at farmers markets. Many varieties are running early this season and with that said I will be looking at Flavor Punch to see where it's at. As far as Sugar Twist it was at least 4 weeks ago, long gone. I am not really a fan of this selection. The ones I am sampling are for the most part outstanding with unique flavors. I am sure there will be more to come.

Please do a video of the tasting of flavor punch! There are no good videos on this variety on CZcams.

Could you do a video on 2 in 1 planting and how to prune?
    I'm interested in doing it

Well I have produced many vides on high density planting. First I would recommend searching on You Tube for the Dave Wilson Nurseries 'Fruit tube'. There i produced a number of videos on high density planting and they continued after i left in 2009. Also If you just google my name a number of Backyard Orchard Culture videos should be easy to find. As for me doing one soon. I really am focused on just sharing fruit and general fruit care right now Plus I really don't have a place to do a demo right now. But I will keep it in mind if the opportunity arises 0++

I have candy heart 3rd year in ground outside Portland Oregon. It bloomed great but no fruit. We did have a late frost that hammered my flavor grenade but it still produced a dozen fruit. The damaged got bacterial infection that defoliated the bottom 1/3 the tree.

Hi Bryan What other Pollinators do you have? I am just getting refamiliarized with Candy Heart. Have a video coming up on it. But i am afraid that outside of California I am not sure of what if any challenges are coming up.

@EdAbleSolutions-qw9zb I have candy heart, burgundy plum, flavor grenade, and emerald beaut "which I now have heard probably won't ripen for me so I'm planning to graft over." I also planted a Stella cherry this year which I'm not sure would pollinate.
