This is literally the best commercial I have ever seen. This is creativity at its height, simply beautiful. Very well done whoever made this, very well done indeed.
CZcams should make Ancient Comments unrepliable. A modern reply does nothing but profane an artifact from CZcams's golden era. A time when not everyone had an account and even those who had one didn't feel compelled to mark their territory by commenting everywhere
This ad makes me proud to be in advertising, and that's no simple task. Love it every time I watch it: the casting, the musical score, the direction. It quite simply doesn't get any better than this.
I first saw this commercial 15 years ago and today remembered it again. It's lost none of its power. What a powerful accomplishment for these creators and for Mr W.
I feel like a real idiot. I've seen this video a few times. On a whim I thought oh lemme watch that video again. This is the first watch through that I actually realized he was portraying the wind.
Brilliant! So well done! I saw this a few years ago and I'm happy I found it again! It's one of my favorite commercials of all time. Heck! It could easily pass as a fantastic super short film! Kudos!
I know it may have been obvious to some, but I thought it very clever and well done. When you come to the concept of having to sell the idea of wind power, I think it works very well.
Such a creative one. Been seeing this often whenever I think of personification of air. When it's inside human life is born to be human, music instrument or gadgets, it bears life and carries life still by being humble with no lime light.
This is one of the best and most compelling advertisements I have ever seen. I hope it wins some awards. The ingenuity and sophistication that went into this ad deserves to be recognized. Btw the title only makes a very small difference because you don't realise the purpose of the wind until the very end. Thats when everything fits together perfectly like a jig saw puzzle - and you stand back and stare in awe.
This is genius. I was wondering the whole way through, "why isn't everyone else extremely mad at him, like chasing him down and yelling?" but then it all made sense.
i just can't believe how funny and how moving this commercial is at the same time. "sure it get's lonely, but you get used to it" - such a sad part. There are lots of directors/producers/writers that could learn a lot from whoever made this in how to get viewers to care about the characters. They evoked the emotion in 2 minutes that some directors never accomplish through many feature films. Bravo. and take that plastic bottles.
this was in the Sundance best short films of 2008 and the theater erupted in laughter...one of the best of the 9 shorts for sure. but each one was amazing in it's own beautiful way go see it if you can.
I feel smart. I don't have sound on this thing and I figured out it was about wind before I read the tags or saw the end of it. Of course, I also feel a tad stupid for not just thinking of checking the tags to see what the ad was about, but meh... Anyway this is pretty great!
Carol Belle The exact piece isn't found in any of them, but it's likely a rearrangement of No.1 that the ad musician created. Either way you pointed him in the right direction :)
Now this is how you fucking advertise.
TheUnchainedMind I didn't see anyone fucking. Where's that video?
*****
Fucking advertise, not advertise fucking, big difference :D
***** in this context the word is an adjective, not a verb
TheUnchainedMind advertising wind?
TheUnchainedMind Yea man, this is pretty genius.
"You get used to it.......after a while.."
The delivery of that line got me
This is truly an amazing commercial. Brilliant concept. The marketing/design/communications teams who created this deserve an award.
It did get an award: a Clio and an award at Cannes, among others!
@@juliabyl2287 congrats to the team.
Creative, not off topic, and simply genius. Great commercial!
To the entire team -- creative, strat planners, production company and client who bought such magnificent work -- thank you. Absolutely brilliant.

lol crying in tik tok and modern advertising
The only thing more useless than wind is ads.
Ohoh look at me I'm profaning an Ancient Comment by replying to it now, I'm so cool
"Finally someday, someone accepted me for who I am"
I'm still waiting for that day
Ryan Daugherty "good things happen to those who wait" That day will come, just be patient
Too bad
this. this is the accent I needed for this character and I don't know why.
yes, the casting is perfect.
so many years later i still need to come back to watch this. the story telling and concept is phenomenal
Same!
me too
This is both hilarious and incredibly moving. I love it.
Did it make you tired?
10 years ago dammm
I assumed he was a ghost until that twist at the end.
A random video from reddit and Peter has commented 10 years ago.
Good to hear you love it Peter:)

that really... blew me away. Sorry.
Oh no you're not 😶
Wind you get so clever?
I didn't know Robert Pattinson had a baby with The Great Khali
Came here from Reddit - never seen this one before. That was lovely !
I've seen this video approximately 15323483262 times now. It never gets old.
I feel like a real idiot. I've seen this video a few times. On a whim I thought oh lemme watch that video again. This is the first watch through that I actually realized he was portraying the wind.
Oh, that's why no one gives a fuck about what he's doing. Thank you.
We call that a Tomato Surprise.
seriously? 😮
😂
You just made my day you big goof :)
wtf. It's the entire backbone of the ad...
Now whenever I feel a breeze I'm gonna be looking over my shoulder for this guy.
From humorous absurdity to unexpected brilliance. Well done!

How to turn a concept like wind into a lovable underdog.
So many people passed Wind, until finally someone saw his potential :-)
I keep coming back to this.
Absolutely brilliant. I´m doing research on viral vids and so far i´ve found a few awesome viral/commercial spots but this one is a true masterpiece.
I know it may have been obvious to some, but I thought it very clever and well done. When you come to the concept of having to sell the idea of wind power, I think it works very well.
Without a doubt, this was the best Ad I've ever seen!!!
Personification is the best way for express yourself. I love this guy, who turns into two birds.
Still remains to be my favourite ad of all time.
One of the absolutely best and heart-warming commercials ever made!
Aw that was so cute. Poor Mr. Wind.
Beautifully done. Simple and so clever.
Aww, Mr. W... we love you, buddy.
Brilliant abstract and very subtle!! Loved it!
amazing... touched my heart... so beautiful... makes u believe it... so much... perfect... one of the best ones i've seen...
Absolutely brilliant! So inspiring 😍
One of the most beautiful ads I've ever seen. So well done.
This is one of the smartest commercials! Took me a while to figure it out!
these are the kinds of things that always tend to stay with me long after I watch them
My favorite advertisement from now on 😀
Wow - what a stunning film! Thanks for posting.
this is truly magnificent. absolutely brilliant writing.
LOVED THIS. Brilliantly clever, well-written, produced very well also. Very much enjoyed it.
今日見た番組で紹介されたので見ました。とても感動しました。🎉
Such a creative one. Been seeing this often whenever I think of personification of air. When it's inside human life is born to be human, music instrument or gadgets, it bears life and carries life still by being humble with no lime light.
Absolutely genius. The main character is perfect. What is it about a French accent that makes things more serious? Truly Amazing.

15 years later, you'll be glad to know that it did win a lot of awards including the Cannes Gold Lion in 2007.
What a brilliant intellegence behind this commercial. Congs a thousand times. The wind man's performance is awesome as well.
2020 and still the best commercial ever created
Utter genius. Oh my god this is amazing.
I couldn’t agree more, it got me a bit choked up lol. I don’t know why, it’s just so moving and beautiful, perfect from beginning to end.
The only thing missing from this video is blowing out birthday candles 😭 its not your birthday Mr.W!
Eu-zy! Who lights birthday candles outdoors?
Wyatt Nite Yeah, all birthday parties are held indoors.
George Woodward correct!
What a great ad - clever and effective at the same time.
Awesome, wish you had more of these, see all sorts of possibilities for them!!!! Just discovered.....
"Who's peekin' out from under a stairway
Calling a name that's lighter than air Who's bending down to give me a rainbow...."
He looks like Edward from Twilight
Joshalots
I get that too
Nathan Fisher
Me too.
Simply. Beautiful.
Very creative commercial!
It hit me when he was throwing sand, he must be the wind ehehe.
I love good #commercials. This is so ahead of it's time. In so many ways. #MrW
At first, I was thinking "alright, where is this going?"
Cool concept. Love how the wind has an accent :P
Oh my gosh this is brilliant! Really cleverly done! I also find it quite hilarious. :)
That's freakin awesome!!! (coming from some-one living in Cape Town where the wind is currently being very annoying!)
This music sounds like one of Eric Satie's Gymnopedies! ^^
This is genius. I was wondering the whole way through, "why isn't everyone else extremely mad at him, like chasing him down and yelling?" but then it all made sense.

Biggest plot twist ever holy shit
Extraordinary.
Immediately had to rewatch it
Amazing, creative and highly original...good on them!
i was so confused untill the end, then i was just like "Oh... AWESOME!"
Holy crap. I didn't have a clue that he was portraying the wind until the very end. And now it makes sense that nobody bashed his face!
this was in the Sundance best short films of 2008 and the theater erupted in laughter...one of the best of the 9 shorts for sure. but each one was amazing in it's own beautiful way go see it if you can.
amazing ad, very good creativity/writing, couldnt get till the end. 10pts
I just found this and now my life is changed for ever for watching to the end.
This is soooo intelligent! I love it.
i love this ad. was clueless at first, but finally got it towards the end!
In my opinion, this is one of the best ads ever created. Strange, funny, touching, and pertinent. Sheer perfection.
M in Canada
The most impressiv ad I can remember
This is beautiful.
It's SO FUNNY!!!
I love it when he throws the sand in the kids face
HAHAHA!
I love this so much!
And i love wind energy... :)
I feel smart. I don't have sound on this thing and I figured out it was about wind before I read the tags or saw the end of it. Of course, I also feel a tad stupid for not just thinking of checking the tags to see what the ad was about, but meh... Anyway this is pretty great!
John Cleese and Andre the Giant had a kid
Science communication in action
Dit is nou eens goed voorbeeld van storytelling! Geweldig!
Best thing I have seen on the internet in a long time. Gives me such a different perspective. The wind is very much alive.
Brilliant!
First I thought this advert was lame, but than I understood!
Best commercial ever, EVER made. I'm still in awe.
That was great. Very well done commercial
That is one scary french guy
Oh shit, I realized he represents the wind on a windy day....
Creative, not off topic, and simply genius. Great commercial!
Mr. Wind acting is outstanding. Great ad.
wow... took me a second to actually get it. it was THAT deep. go wind. i'll be your friend.
Need to know who the actor is in this brilliant thing.
His name is Guillaume Delaunay, a French actor...pretty sure you guessed that part :)
Tim Hole Thank you.
@@2dotGo Wait, he's REAL? I thought he was a creepy CGI Humanoid Robot...,😱
All ingenious is simple ... as well as the clip - just brilliant ...
this is beautifull in so many ways..relaxing and funny.
Seriously! How can you not seeing this twist coming a mile off?!?!??!
I thought he was an autistic man. Never did I think he was The Wind until the end. 😀
anyone know the name of the piano piece being played in the background?
Darude Sandstorm.
Paul Rogers ROGERS!
brian hello I think it sounds a lot like Satie's Gymnopedie. Not no. 1, which is the most famous one I think. But it could be a clip from no. 2 or 3.
Carol Belle The exact piece isn't found in any of them, but it's likely a rearrangement of No.1 that the ad musician created. Either way you pointed him in the right direction :)
brian hello An original piece
Very subtle the personification of the wind, that which you do not see except by actions alone. Good!
this is not a commercial this is an art... bravo...
