There’s something so horrible and uncomfortable about how their true feelings slip as they hear the gurney passing the window. The dad covering his ears, the mom almost vomiting, Vanetia chugging wine with dead eyes, Farleigh about to explode… it just invokes so much emotion and panic. This scene is brilliant.

Brilliant? Its all over the place. Film doesn't know if they are supposed to invoke selfishness, love for Felix, or if they are just dense out of richness.

What I loved the most about it is the english-style denial of grief, like how Sir James and Elspeth try to keep all "normal" and contained and still when they hear the body pass they can't help but show the true dept of emotion.

My theory is because he hated the family. Remember? And, he wanted what they had. Their wealth. Farley had nothing. So, I guess they were portraying his focus being on the family. Since they were the key to him getting fortune. Notice both him and the friend ended up living. And I take it as people thinking they're being helped when in need or having desires. When really you're better off taking the longer road, being those things are just a henderance to you. Cause if they stayed and got in his way. He would've killed them too. But, I guess it's also the set up of the movie, so it can be told that he killed everyone he needed to for his plain to work. No! Road blocks.

Can we please give up for Richard E Grant who doesn't get enough credit for this performance? Felix's death transformed his father, Sir James from a jolly old Lord of the Manor into a raging, grief stricken father struggling to maintain that English stiff upper lip as well step up and take leadership of what's left of the family unit.
The morning after the night before, Farleigh was in for the rude awakening after getting too cocky for his own good with that "This is my house" speech to Oliver who showed him how disposable to the Cattons he truly was. Just like the other lame ducks he watched them take in and cast out in the event of boredom. Even as the poor relation.

If you want the spoiler free version - with just enough to make sense of whats going on without ruining it for you - Felix has been found dead in the maze after the previous evening's party, and both Venetia and Farleigh are suspicious of Oliver at having been involved in some way. Meanwhile, Felix's parents are simultaneously trying to maintain a semblance of normality at the dining table, they are obviously in denial in spite of the presence of the police and the coroner. Everyone SEEMS to be grief stricken though, but whether that is entirely true in the case of Oliver seems to be open to debate. Hope this helps.

He deserved to be loved by us because he’s telling the truth and he knew that Oliver is the destroyer I hate the most and he’s white! He won the game but Farleigh will be ready to take more action as a newly improved protagonist. Don’t judge a book from its covers.

He was friends with Oliver until his birthday party, True.
      He’s not a bully, True.
He never thought of that and never treated him shitty, True.
He was snobby, annoying, funny, generous, and smart, True.
He found out that Oliver is a fucking messed up wealthy middle class man and therefore proving him guilty, True.
Oliver wanted to have this new kind of life by stealing the itsy bitsy pieces of everyone’s wealth, stealth, and health by hypnotizing and manipulating them.
Dogs sleep on their backs and leave their stomachs exposed.
Farleigh isn’t cunty, shitty, and stupid.
He’s a true angel. He’s black, gay, innocent, misunderstood, very smart, trustworthy, truthful, flawed, angry, caring, and self preserving.
He deserved to be loved by us for proving him right. That’s why we forgave him the very best.
Your comments are full of lies and confusion.
Farleigh is my favorite character and a survivor and I’m on his side already.
Three months you’ve commented have passed. It’s time for you to learn the truth even more often enough.

To be fair, I hate Oliver so much and so bad. He scandalous! 😖
I knew it from the start because I watched the trailers. That already indicate he had done something slick, menacing, perverted, murderous, and cruel.
I couldn’t trust him but I trusted his motivations, I accepted his truth, I understood his aspects, and I loved his Murder On The Dance Floor finale.
I didn’t like the Cattons because they’re avoiding Felix’s life and memory. Though Elspeth is so glamorous and hilarious. 🤣
Venetia is twisted and sincere. James is an odd curious ruthless tyrant. Duncan is handsomely ominous. Felix is so kind and sometimes messy. Joshua and Liam needed help and are both sympathetic. Michael is deranged, interesting, and smoky.
      You gotta trust yourself sometimes.

Saltburn was kind of a cheap thrill to me. A little overkill a little too referential. It gave skins/euphoria and we're beyond that tbh. but Venitia and the actress who played her... now THAT was CINEMA

From what I understand, Venetia's aesthetic was influenced by the Indie Sleaze movement of that time. She's even been compared to Skins Cassie & Effy.
