This episode is a recording from a recent broadcast of an HDTV-transferred and restored film. Additional audio and video augmentation by TooleMan TV, 2023. - Zábava
The monster was played by Dawson Palmer, a stuntman who mainly worked for Irwin Allen. He died in a car accident at 36 in 1972.
Another enjoyable episode thanks for posting.
Yes,those rubber suit monsters scary for real.
A lot of great guest stars appeared on Irwin’s shows. Hugh Marlowe certainly had some sci-fi street cred with Day The Earth Stood Still and Earth vs The Flying Saucers under his belt. Not to mention a few Hollywood classics like All About Eve and 12 O’clock High. This episode is one of my favorites. A monster of the week, but respectable.
Familiar looking lagoon. I was half expecting Gilligan and The Skipper to show up in a rowboat at any second! (I know it's not the same.) But hey, thanks for these restored 'Voyage' episodes. Great stuff from my childhood.
.. we just need Mary Ann!
@@josenighthawk Glad you said Mary Ann instead of Ginger since I was always a Mary Ann guy!

It was terrible that she passed away; I also liked her.
She looked good right up to the end.
One of my fave episodes of the show. Nice turn by Paul Trinka as Patterson, cool monster and always nice to see Hugh Marlowe....
The Seaview really is a beautiful looking boat.
@danieldickson8591.
One day, when you're past the age of 3 years old, you may discover that there is a difference between a "boat" and a "submarine".
Great series, great actors. RIP.
I used to love this! One of the Admiral, Captain, Chip, Chief, Patterson and Kowalski (noone else had speaking roles) took it in turns to be invaded by alien consciousness, go mad and need rescuing. And every week the Seaview went through violent maneuvers throwing everyone about. Later copied by Star Trek.
I just read the info on IMDB on Voyage. Paul Trinka who played Patterson and who featured prominently in this episode died at age 41 in 1973 of brain cancer. So sad to read that.
Hedison was the last actor to die (2019), and as the article said, Seaview is now on eternal patrol.
Actually, there's one more actor from "Voyage" who's still alive to this day. His name is Allan Hunt and he played seaman Riley in the second season. He didn't return for the third and fourth season because he was drafted to go to Vietnam from what I've read.
OMG you're right...the show is cursed!!
Yeah read something on this guy said he enjoyed the simple life of travelling thru the South Pacific.Must of been paradise in the 1960’s.
According Derik Lewis (Lt. O'Brien) of season 1 there are still 3 actors left, he didn't give names but i guess he also include Allan Hunt although both of them never appeared together. Another i guess is Marco Lopez who had appeared continually in non speaking role since season 1
Actually, if you count the original film, Barbara Eden is still with us
one thing you can say about the many monsters of irwin allen's shows, they had really good pushing skills.
That they do!
Gilligan's Island lol. I sure liked this show as a kid. RIP all that have passed the fun days of TV.
I really loved this show, lots of action... And the acting wasn`t bad either !!!!
Gorgeous upload...fun episode. That device used to attract the monster had a long and varied career in the series!
Yes, the plot device as well as the mechanical one. ;)
The opening scene is hilarious where the monster simply walks out of the water beats the crap out of everyone then wades back in.
Not exactly, the guest star ran away and hid while the cameramen took the beating...
Some beating up…too funny.
That's the mark of a great Captain at 48:04. Reassuring his crew with both hands on their shoulders. They had total respect for him as he issued his orders out
Wonderful rapport.
Well done Captain Crane
❤❤😊
The creature costume is rather well done... definitely freaky looking
What I love about this show is that silly monsters ran beside really emotional, psychologically in-depth stories. The monster was rather goofy looking but the confrontation between Patterson and Wells was actually well acted
True! This is a highlight for Voyage fans in a season often known best for that non-stop action. Kowalski gets "his" episode in "Deadly Waters". Season 3 had some care put into the first half, had to deal with budget later in the semester. Still, even some later tales in yr 3 had a little something extra lavished on them for a boost.
Almost forgot: story goes that with "Riley" gone, there was a brief attempt to make Patterson into the "hip" new wise guy (note banter with the Chief in this episode).
@@AdmiralNelson1000 There was also the wisecracks in the episode titled "werewolf" especially the scene where Patterson tells the Chief his farm in Kansas had salt water which is why he became a sailor.
@bettychatfield2544. Thank you for that reminder. It was fun and I almost overlooked it...
IMO for an aquatic humanoid creature, I think this suit looks pretty good.
@danieldickson8591. Greetings. Thank you for the creature comment. I'm hearing a lot of complaints about 60s and 70s TV monsters, but all things considered these are well crafted creatures. I stick my neck out and try and say that they match anything that might have been in the big screen at the time (what else to compare them to?) The "Doomsday Island" aliens catch some snickers but the bright orange or red suits certainly make up for anything else that might not please everyone.
Thank you Irwin Allen! ... with your other camp and 'cheezy' shows, such as Lost in Space, the Time Tunnel, et. al., you nurtured the child in us - and still do! .. Yes, Cheeze is Good! .. MORE!
Beautiful tribute@! Thank you for this.
The creature suit was also used in the episode "Night of Terror". And if I'm not mistaken, I think it was also used in an episode of Lost in Space. One of the reasons Irwin Allen recycled the monster suits was to save money for the studio from what I've read.
I've read Allen's bio. He was big into recycling stories, props, models, etc.. A lot of LiS, Voyage and other shows were intermingled because of what you wrote - to save money.
In LiS there are scenes where the Jupiter 2 model is on display in an alien's lab, for example, but facing away from the camera.
@@mjpt57 yes you're right. I think I've seen that episode. 👍
Indeed, Fox was tight on the money, supposedly having lost a bundle on movies. Books and magazine articles have mentioned the lack of funds available as the shows moved along. Curiously, the TV production division was said to have made a bundle for Fox domestically and in strong overseas sales.
Rather ironic that the admiral is so dismissive of “mythical sea monsters” yet encounters them himself in just about every other episode😅 then in the next scene the captain looks at the photo and says “I see it but I don’t believe it “.,after all he has been through?
He could just barely get away with it this early in Season 3. Much beyond this episode, not so.
Back in those days, a monster could get good work in the entertainment industry 😮😊😮😊
🤣
What's the point of having a water-tight bulkhead door when the wall's are made of rice paper? 🤣
Worse yet is the ventilation system, where one can traverse the whole boat without even rice paper barriers. 😅
I pointed this out in the comments for another episode where the vents were used as a way to sneak about.
Wall = bulkhead.
Door = hatch.
For "dramatic effect".
the real bulkheads were Styrofoam 😊
It made surfacing quicker😊
Just think when we were watching this on 1960s Saturday nights, British children were getting Dr. Who...in black & white!😮
And loving every minute of it !
good episode
That was a good one.
Two monsters from one rubber suit? Now THAT'S value!
I won’t be able to sleep tonight 😂 the stuff of nightmares lol
Opening actor, Hugh Marlowe, was in Earth vs the Flying Saucers and Day the Earth Stood Still...
17:34 Yet another Seaview Rock and Roll!
I had a closeup look at those special weapons that Capt Crane and kowalski are holding, They are Lee enfield Mk 5 jungle carbines with the forstocks missing and painted silver. Those WWII rifles couild be purchased for a song and a dance back in the 1960s now worth $1800.00 Cdn on the open market.
I couldn't say which variants, but Enfields were still dirt cheap even in the '90s.
The camera man never dies🎥.Just beat up a bit🤭
As is right and proper.
A special Oscar for monstersuits. 😂
True. They need more accolades.
Very Nice.
@mariakelly90210. "Likeable" in a sense that TV just doesn't serve up creatures like this anymore. Outer Limits OS, Irwin Allen, Trek OS Beasts, Space 1999, all delivered a pre CGI "zoology" of the "like" that wont be seen again.
O PERSONAL DIETY! It's Hugh "Twelve O'Clock High, All About Eve, and The Day The Earth Stood Still (1951)" Marlowe!
You forgot earth vs the flying saucers
Looks like the lagoon is from Gilligan's island!
Moreau Atoll? The Island of Dr. Moreau? I see what Irwin did there… 🤨
Sorry about that, chief? What was Patterson? A military Maxwell Smart?
Patterson was being groomed briefly at the start of season 3 to be the new "hip wise guy" replacing the drafted Alan "Riley" Hunt. As you'll see, that interesting experiment didn't last.
Apparently it was originally called "The Thing from Uranus "......
Dad Jokes,,,,stop,just stop,🥲
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!
@dad_jokes_4ever226: With a bad case of the piles, by the look of it. 😂
Hugh Marlowe played the same type of character in the film "When the Earth Stood Still," who was only interested in his own success, regardless of other people's safety.
Nice technical talk about thermal layer creating sonar ghosts ! Wonder if they had technical consultant(s)
I'm surprised they credited the monster actor.
Very rare.
He couldn’t act his way out of a rubber suit😅
A hat tip to Dawson Palmer, who had filled up Irwin s monster suits on various shows.
Notice how there arent any sailors in the hallways just in the operation room.
Budget cuts for season 3. Most of the spending can be seen earlier on the season (for example, Day the World Ended). Lots of empty space on Seaview this season.
Why didn’t he show the photo of the monster to the admiral at the beginning of the scene. It would have saved an awful lot of dialogue
Had to fill that running time
As far as I can remember, the actor in the monster suit almost never gets credited on this show. I wonder if it's the same guy in every episode.
A stuntman named Dawson Palmer got into a lot of those suits on Irwin's shows. You can see him without a suit (part of the time) on Lost In Space's The Spacecroppers.
this show had a limited run here in manila.
Sorry, one Oscar ist enough.
Why do all sea monsters look like they're wearing pants, lol?
Because they'd look even SILLIER if they wore skirts?
@@mariakelly90210 Lol
And, Fred Gwynne's boots.
This episode did have a lame ending.😮 45:51
That is definitely not a man in a rubber suit. Should I be concerned?
You should. He's a pretty tough customer.
I’m more worried than concerned.
Thw French were conducting nuclear tests at Moruroa Atoll in 1966,could explain the beastie.
I am just 2 years old 😅
The acting by the women in this episode was outstanding.
There are women in this episode?
Gawd, I MISS them. All you'll get this season is "The Mermaid".
R.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
😂😂😂😂😂
The purple people eater?
I wonder how many times they had to repair the walls when some creature busts thru them…and there was a lot of goofy creatures in this series.
what submarine has man sized vents? lol
The Seaview!
In the distant future of 197X, submarine technology reaches it's apex.

@williamsmith752 - I don't see it. Tell me more, please.
@@TooleManTV the admiral comes up to the desk.....then you see patterson...when it cuts back...you see the admiral coming up to the desk again...he should be seen already there!...watch it again....
@@williamsmith752 I see it now. Thanks, you've got a great eye!
It's overdubbed too, just a piece of stock reused
I just watched the show to see the Seaview and the flying sub. I never really realized how bad this show was.
For an Irwin Allen tv series, VTTBOTS was pretty decent. And at least Voyage didn't feature washing machines and hair curlers in the Jupiter 2 camping site like Lost In Space.
C'mon now, compared to what😅?
as a kid i liked it but it just got goofy...........
That was a big loss for Disney.
Why do I keep watching episodes of this stupidity?? 😂
Why do any of us come here to watch videos on YousTupidity.
I agree
You tell us, Benny Hinn.
LAME!!!
By this time, when 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea' concentrated on the sci fi/monster theme, it started getting really lame and silly.
Absolutely sprints compared to conventional shows.😅
La! Le Président Volodymyr Zelensky a était trop loin!!👹👹
Tech, engineer, security and diver. Is there anything Kowalski cant do?
Can he crawl through the vents?
A special Oscar for monstersuits. 😂
Yes @!

Thank you for that. These "clothes" rarely get their due from a lot of critics. They're very likeable.
