Well said! Rest is an investment in your future and the future of your family! When I am feeling frustrated that I can’t do what I want to do i focus my thoughts on what I get to do! Rest allows us to slow down and savor every aspect of life. I am praying for you and for this rich opportunity in resting to embrace the simplest treasures of life. I’m a gray-haired lady from Louisville, KY who is also finding herself in a place of resting after a major surgery. I too am a very active person so I understand your struggle. But I am finding joy in the simplest and sweetest things and appreciating what others are willing to do to help me through this time and it is making all the difference. Frustration is so very difficult and also so disappointing, but thankfully, you are alive. Yes, there are many things you cannot do but be patient with the healing process and allow yourself to reflect on your life, all that you have, all that you've accomplished and, most of all, your loving family. You are, indeed, loved.
Luca please look into the Keto diet. This is a brain & body healing diet. channel Dr Berg (vds keto for beginners, keto flu, electroyles), Dr Eckberg, Dr boz and many more. Transition very slowly. Library will have books on keto diet. It's a popular diet now but, was orginally created for people with brain issues.
You are a kind person Luca for seeing that your wife is emotionally, mentally & physically exhausted. You BOTH have to rest. IT's so important for the body especially the Adrenal glands to get plenty of rest & relaxation other wise you can end up with Adrenal fatigue (dr berg, dr axe, dr lam have vds on this health issue that will create endless exhaustion so you want to avoid this with rest, relatation, clean diet, no alcohol, sleep etc)

In my old age one truth I have learned is to rest relax and give your body time to restore health. Sometimes an extra day can honestly make the difference
...and CoQ10 !! CoQ10 has always helped me heal 5-10Xs faster from cuts, bruises and rashes. It is wonderful in lotion as well to help skin wounds ...not just in pill form. Sometimes I do both!
Was just telling my husband about your many travel adventures, that I followed, what you have gone through together with the medical issues, and now about your home in Sicily and how you are counting your blessings as life unfolds for you. We are in our 70's and have seen difficult times. My husband, after heart issues, laid on the couch for 6 years with depression in Alaska. And that passed although it was very hard on me and the children and financially. Now... we are retired, living next to our daughter, her family with precious 2 yr old and 6 year old, in Utah and every day is just perfect. Our health is good and we are ok financially. Be encouraged. Every day is a new beginning. And BEAUTIFUL Luce fills my heart with smiles as I know she does with you both.
Use that little cottage as a camping cottage. Luca sit and walk around your beautiful olive trees. Look out to that beautiful view of the water. God is good and he heals those who trust Him.

I wish you a speedy recovery. Blood Patches are a true miracle. Life will get back to normal, but I know it is hard to be patient. Rest! Rest! Rest! I, too, have had Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension. I had bleeding in my brain, but unlike Luca, I did not have any strokes. I had two blood patches, and the leak stopped. I am so indebted to my amazing doctors, especially my Neurologist. Unfortunately, I have some residual issues, including headaches. I am on a monthly injection of Aimovig which truly has been a lifesaver. Blessings to you and your family.

If magnesium does not contra indicate with any meds you are on…relaxing in a bath with Epsom salts for at least 12 minutes has been a huge benefit to my headaches post SAH. 😊
Luca, I am so glad you and your family are back in Sicily. During your recovery, let Mother Nature nurture you, bare feet on the ground, time in your olive grove or at the beach, sunlight in your eyes, and on your skin. You and Sarah are the stewards of the land, bringing it back to life. Yes! It's called "grounding". The videos are all over yt. Getting barefoot and getting rubber-soled shoes off your feet and connecting to this big magnet giant called Earth is so important to the flow of Chi in our bodies. Our bodies are 'body-electric' made in God's image. We were made to connect to God's Creation, this universe! Blessings!! 💓💞💓
p.s. Shoes used to be made with leather or even hemp soles or other natural materials which allowed us to get that flow of energy from Mother Earth more freely ...I remember being more connected to nature as a child & I honestly believe this is one reason!
We are not in charge of a thing. I am in my 60s, I have learned that goals are just goals of mine, but the rest of the world goes on around us and we have to take care of many things along the way including our well being. Goals and plans need to be very flexible in this life. Love is all we need, truly. ❤ All three of you are healing.
I know its not easy Luca ! Been there a few times after my surgeries. One time I wasnt even allowed to sit for 7 weeks... It sucks...but pls take is easy , dont risk anything! Its not worth it... ! Read some and learn more about your land and plants ... draw your dream house... Take care , wish the whole family a good week ahead 🥰🥰

Yes, time to pursue other things rather than hard physical labor. Luca could perhaps enroll in some online agriculture and farming-practice classes ...perhaps even for credit through schools in Italy/or Sicily. Also, if they are available he should search for farming/agriculture grants perhaps awarded by Italy/or Sicily ...or even The European Union. Perhaps there are money-grants for special organic practices, or for special rare breeds or special crops. I think it would be wise to investigate. This would give Luca an achievable goal and direction that could be very rewarding ...and perhaps even profitable.
I have not stopped thinking about all of you all week and seeing Luca looking well through the ordeal with Luce looking up at her papa brought a year of joy and thankfulness. I will now watch with a sigh of relief ❤

I had spinal surgery 9 weeks ago. I am much better now, but still get tired. Taking it slowly will pay off in the future. You are past the worst part. Trust your Drs and you will be better.
Nancy I wish you a speedy recovery. I too am needing a major lumbar fusion surgery but am so scared of committing to having it done because the drs tell me there is no guarantee that I’ll be in less pain than I’m currently in. Please get well soon 🙏

Recovery never goes as fast as we want it to. Listen to your drs and your body. Please take your time and heal. My husband is recovering from a two day back reconstructive surgery and cannot lift more than 5lb.

During the birth of my last child, I986, the spot where I was given a shot into my spine for pain leaked spinal fluid. We were not aware of it until the first time I tried to sit up and get out of bed. It felt like I had been shot in my head. The nurses had me lay back down and that reduced the pain. They kept my bed positioned with my head lower than my feet slightly. They wrapped my torso with a huge band of elastic to put pressure on the leak. It took a few days and when I was able to get out of bed to sit in a chair they knew my spinal leak had healed.
I clearly remember the pain and dizziness. It was very severe.
I hope you are able to have complete healing and can adjust to being required to rest. Your beautiful daughter resembles my daughter born then. Focus on what you can do rather than what you cannot. Helping others who are interested in moving there is a great idea!

We just finished pruning our 1500 cherry trees with the help of our main worker/friend. Now we hope that the frost stays away while the fruit buds bloom and the season begins again. Please realize how very lucky you are. Love is the gift of life.

That alarm in the hospital, in my opinion, is a very harmful sound.
I am sure that they could come up with a sound that would be quickly responded to, without being so grating on ones nerves.
That hospital noise is worse than the loud and intense and unnerving sounds in many MRI machines. Definitely they need an alternative. But the most important thing is that you get the care you need.

LIFE forces you to pay attention sometimes. You learn to slow down, embrace every moment. I am 74, a survivor of 3 cancers, a gallbladder that split open and spread infection, shut down my liver, andvnow I was diagnosed a being diabetic, but I learned to embrace life. pretty blue sky, the sun on your face as Luca said in the hospital, everything. Hang in there, beautiful family. I suffered a traumatic brain and body injury many years ago and it took me many years to get back to normal… to walk again, to talk again, to be able to move again and think again… It was a very long process but I remained strong and recovered almost fully. i had that same leak CSF i had an issue with that issue and my thyroid doctor knew what it was right away he send me to a head specialist Luca is so super cute speaking only 2 years old that is early and i am so proud of her you are my favorite family sending special love to Luca and Sara it is such a beautiful Sunday today God Bless you all for being who you are making us better people
Luca, I’m sure this is very frustrating for you but be kind to yourself. Listen to your body, do what you can, embrace the good days to help sustain you during the bad days, and know that all of us are sending healing energy into the universe to comfort you. And Sara, you are exactly right. Find the positive, every single day. The three of you are together, in your happy place. That’s enough for now.
While Luca’s illness is rare, so is true love. Supporting each other during times of illness makes the good times all the better. You have a beautiful and loving child whose love is clearly returned and shared. You three have a special relationship. Your love and understanding is present in all of your videos. Thank you for sharing and we are hoping for the best. My wife survived a devastating heart attack at 52. The cardiologists and surgeons saved her life several times. She died in our family room but was brought back to continue to live a full life. She is still here at age 73. We love each other unconditionally and our lives are good because of that love. Continue to do what you three do so well - love and live.

I bet, there are young people who follow your channel, or Sara, some of your fellow farming students, who would volunteer to help you with the olive grove and renovating the buildings.
Try using ice packs when you get pain. Better than pain killers. It helps with inflammation. Take it slow. It takes time to recover from such an invasive surgery. Be good to yourself.
Ice packs work incredibly - pls try them + swimming in the cold ocean too
This is the best idea! For back pain, I would take an ice pad (similar in size to an American heating bad….12” by 16” inches, perhaps, which I kept in freezer). Even frozen, it would remain flexible. Place in thin linen towel…
Press to painful area use towel ends to secure in place….or maybe a belt? And just wear it till it’s no longer cold. Ahhhhh, relief!
Better yet, walk into ocean and sit allowing the chill waters to surround the painful area. That alone would settle painful inflamed areas for a couple of days!
Also, suggesting, it is good to have courage for that last idea!🤩🤩🤩🤩🤗🤗🤗 BETTER THAN PILLS!
Pills continue, of course if needed….but maybe only I/2 of dose…..wean yourself, if you can….it will help.

You are fortunate that you don’t have to wear a neck brace. Ice works well on the neck also! Put it on quickly to ward off that headache! You have more freedom of movement so can still drive, I see. 3 years ago my son was diagnosed with cancer. I could not go to visit him in the hospital or go to his wedding, because of the lockdown in my province. My daughter was 30 and diagnosed with RA and couldn't dress herself for months. She travelled around the world with her job and had to leave it. They were both so active and, yes, it was difficult for them. BUT, please you have to relax and do the right thing no matter how hard. Yes, it is hard. You have a wonderful family who just want you back to normal however long that takes. Both mine are absolutely fabulous now which makes me so very happy . Be kind to yourself darling. ❤ From Valencia

I have a problem that is stopping me from caring for my chickens and 8,000 square foot garden now until I go to an appointment May 9th. I have been waiting a while for the appointment then surgery, I have my husband daughter helping with the chickens and a little in the garden.You are young and have many more years ahead of you to take care of the olive trees.Have a wonderful week.

Wow- pruning is really severe! It seems like too much but I’m sure the professionals know what they are doing.
That is too much pruning for an ornamental olive tree, but those trees are being pruned for production. Olives are very hardy. That's why they have some 1000 year old trees. In a few years, the pruned trees will come back shorter and bushier than ever, which is perfect for production.
Morning, Luca you are in the healing process. While walking try not to look down this changes the angle of spinal canal an will produce pain. Remember the first attempt they told you stay in bed flat you have been on the go. Sarah be strong god does not give you more than you can handle. Señorita Luce continue learning your brain is a sponge and absorbing take care of your papa and mother.

I have several dwarf (so called, but always getting too big) fruit trees in my yard in Southern California. I just squeeed one of the last oranges yesterday. It is such a pleasure to have ones own trees, and the flowers are already profuse for this years crop, as we have had two good years of early spring rain. I love catching up with your family on Sunday mornings. I wish everything good for you. Just watched Martijn Doolaard install a copper shower in his cottage in Italian Alps. Do you have a shower over the small tub in the bathroom? If not, this might work until you finish the shower in the other room (but don't do it yourself Luca!)

Any time you have something done to your spine or brain it can be a rough go for a while, especially when it involves spinal fluid. I pray the surgery was successful. Take this time to take it easy and heal. I can see from posts here that many are praying for your recovery. Just take it easy for now. I know it is difficult when you have plans, but the healing now is what is important. Hang in there and have patience❤️

Love you all so much ❤❤❤we all have limitations. Many times it's our mind that has to understand this, we've been blessed to do what we did before, as we get older we start accepting and learning how to navigate our lives with possible limitations or obstacles or challenges appear especially with unknown possibilities with Luchas condition. Like Sara says being smart about learning as much as you can is best for now. We have to take good care ❤️ and stay blessed by who and what is in our lives. There is a time and season for everything. Hi Luca and Sarah , I'm a nurse Ive worked on a Neuro-ICU Ive had alot of patients with Luca's condition. When myelogram doesnt work or cant see , you can go for cerebral angiogram . Its very similar to myelo . Its done by neroradiologists . Might be hard to find one , but 100% sure there are a few in Germany or UK . If blood patches fail you can repeat it or add a glue we use called Onyx . So you have options ❤😊. As for your activity level , correct dont pick up anything heavier than 2-5lbs , no working out or home remodeling. I think you will feel better at sea 🌊 level than at high in the mountains. If you are allowed to take ibuprofen take it , it will help with inflammation. But it may be contraindicated if you are taking a "blood thinner" so check with doctor. If they gave you a pain medication, take it , because gritting your theeth thru pain makes it worse and their isn't a gold medal 🏅 to give if your try to grit thru pain. It will get better , the pain you feel is inflammation pressing on your cervical nerves , ouch ! I know its very painful, like puke pain 😢. Rest up and heal 🙏 ❤😊

Thank you for answering my two questions! I feel honored! I'm so happy that Luca has come through the surgery and looks well. Sit back and enjoy life for a while. Seeing the trees pruned reminds me of pruning orange trees after the big freeze of 1984/85 in Florida. I was the "puller." That's the person who, after my partner cut them down with a chainsaw, pulls and then lifts and throws the cut branches into the middle of the rows so the bulldozer could come and push them into piles to burn. It was hot and physically demanding work. But I was on a fun crew and had a great boss, and that made all the difference. Luce has grown so much! She's a bundle of energy. You should put up a couple of beehives. Free honey!
Luca, please remember...that as frustrating as this time is, when you can't do the physical work, you have more time to spend with Luce and Sara. Time is precious! Each hour with your beautiful baby girl is so precious. Enjoy your girls! Enjoy the view of the sea, and the warmth of the sun on your face. I'm a 65-year-old woman who is not in the best health. Dear Luca, I’m happy that you are recovering from your surgery. And yes, it takes time to heal so be patient you have a very supportive wife, which is great and a joyful daughter that makes you smile. Hopefully your parents will come and visit and give you the support and help that you may need at different times. Consider yourself fortunate to have parents that love you. Not everyone has such supportive family members and I’m sure you appreciate them. I do have a suggestion Luca, perhaps you should do the cooking, so Sara doesn’t have to do it and that should be a help To her. Cooking can be therapeutic and not strenuous. As always, I enjoy watching your videos.
As an early child educator (teacher), I have noticed Luce's vocabulary improve dramatically over the last few months. How wonderful that you speak to her constantly and she is being raised in a bilingual family. My parents are both Italian and all of my cousins are in Italy, but I am in America. Your videos remind me of the beauty and peace in Italy. I hope to return soon. Much love to you.
Life has dealt you a cruel blow in the shape of Luca's rare illness, but on the positive side you have great riches, a loving relationship, an adorable daughter, a supportive family, beautiful surroundings, kind neighbours, dream piece of land, almost like the Gods said " we are testing you, we give you everything, but you will have a struggle as well ".Good luck, and rest Luca, don't feel guilty to take the time you need.

Luca, sorry you had post-op pain after Luce's birthday, but I'm glad you are able to be at home to recover with your family. I send you lots of love and healing prayers that there are no more CSF leaks and that you will be pain free soon. Luce's delight in feeding the feral cats is fun to watch. Sara has a lot on her shoulders but she's a strong, courageous, compassionate woman. Wonderful that you gave your olive trees a good "haircut." It should produce more olives later. Take care everyone! ❤💜💙💚 p.s. My brother had a TBI in 2014 from a bike accident. Although he made a remarkable recovery, he still suffers from headaches on and off, which he attributes to cervical issues. He periodically had chiropractic adjustments of his neck, which seems to help. In 1-3% of TBIs they can have CSF leaks with dementia symptoms, but hopefully he doesn't have CSF. Jenny USA

I am 63 and as much as I can’t do everything I want to I can still do many things. So please take it easy enjoy the rest and when you are back to feel like yourself and pasted by the doctors to work again. Then you can start again. It is a hard journey we walk at times but as long as we try our best to do what we can we have had a good day. All the best and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I am so glad that Sara is able to keep Luca from over doing. This is the time to rest, so that Luca will get better and stronger.
