@@rapidreaperMullins Cheltenham festival record over the last 5 years is -101 per pound stake, Henderson is -10, Elliott -40. But the clueless troll still pretends he makes a fortune exclusively backing only Mullins horses while discounting everything else as a yak. It's a bookies dream having somebody this daft backing horses regularly, basically a free trip to Seychelles every year for them.

Bring back the old days, top horses running in handicaps, grand national with 40 runners and fences you have to jump. I know the health & safety brigade exist but NH racing used to take place on firm ground, all the fences jumped in low sun & I remember the opening race on each day of the festival had 30 runners in them

What’s he supposed to do, turn horses down when they are offered to him. Not really his fault. Any trainer would do the same. racing needs an overhaul. In Ireland all top horses run against each other week in week out. Does not happen here for all sorts of reasons. Not going to change anytime soon. Let’s just appreciate the top class horses.
The top horses don't runt against each other every weekend there what so ever. Willie and Elliot have god knows how many horses which is why you see alot more. English trainers have got no where near the same amount of horses or money
Name one example where the top mullins horses take each other and doesn't turn into a farce where townend gets a soft lead and the others are non triers. That's a load of horse shit. I'm irish and English racing is a more compelling racing product. There's no monopoly.
Elliott has twice as many runners. Still can't touch him. And Willie doesn't sit on dead horses.
I watch NH racing regularly, and have been following it avidly since the early 1970s. The situation in Ireland at present is quite ridiculous, and anybody who cannot see that is either stupid or being disingenuous. The sport in Ireland lacks credible competitiveness, is boring and monotonous, and is in danger of killing itself slowly. Willie Mullins isn’t to blame, it’s certainly not his fault. But something must be done and soon.
I’ve never been convinced that WM is much if any better than other trainers. Hey, he has most of the best horses so of course he’s gonna have far more success than other trainers. Owners feed off this, either by purchasing the best horses he sources, or sending him the very best horses they have purchased themselves (JP being a notable exception). This is self-fulfilling, in that WM looks like the best trainer so more and more top horses go to him and more and more top owners send their top horses to him. The cycle repeats to strengthen WM’s position, thereby making other trainers look worse than they really are. This results in yet more top horses/owners seeing Mr Mullins as their best (only?) choice. It’s a quite ludicrous situation, so much so that even Gordon Elliott is struggling to get any kind of look in, and that with the brilliant Jack Kennedy riding for him.
I could go on and on but I won’t, because I have no beef at all with Mr Mullins. However, I should like to say just one more thing. I’d love anybody who says that WM is the best of the best, or even just the best trainer now, to come up with some tangible proof. For example, what has he done to win with horses he shouldn’t? Are there any examples? Is there anything to show he’s better than, for example, Jamie Snowden, Henry de Bromhead, Olly Murphy, Emmet Mullins, Gavin Cromwell, Venetia Williams etc etc etc? If all those trainers had Mr Mullins’ horses would they also not be more successful than their contemporaries? Of course they would.
You will be aware that Lydia Hislop hosts a show on Racing TV called Road to Cheltenham (with Ruby Walsh). I’ve written recently along similar lines on the chat for that show. No response. So, I wonder, why is nobody in the public eye commenting on this problem? I mean, in one race at the DRF next week WM trains 8 of the first 9 in the betting. Is this really what we all want in our wonderful sport?

He may be a brilliant trainer, but what he's doing to the health of irish racing is a farce. The grade 2 that Allaho won, just captured everything wrong with it. Cheveley park juggernaut bought for thousands out in front getting a soft lead, two other non triers from the same yard never put into the race and the only opposition was horse rated in the 140s. A joke of a product. The DRF glosses over all the nonsense on a weekly basis.

@@bigshug8576 He is but wouldnt it be better if the 2nd and 3rd choice horses for the different trips that Townend doesn’t ride were in another yard. So there wouldn’t be easy leads like allaho last week and we had some proper racing again
Gambling is a complete waste of time. If you're 20 years old and think you're fairly knowledgeable. Best case scenario you'll be down 20k in 10 years time. I'm definitely Gambling until i cash in my chips because i can't accept defeat but the youth need to be told. David O'Meara, Charles Byrnes and Nicky Henderson are complete crooks. However they'll never get done because they know how to play the game. Mc Nally got a significant ban and he's a gentleman compared to them crooks

@frankelforever14 I don't care about my addiction. I just like to highlight the pitfalls involved to arrogant gamblers who think they've got an edge on the bookies. Good luck to them. With the amount of fiddling going on, the lord above couldn't get an edge. It's scary how many crooked tramps are allowed to continue to stop horses and zero penalties. The game is beyond bent. I've told loads of young fellas what they're up against, but they literally won't listen. I suppose we all have to learn the hard way.
