How to Salvage a Small Sunken Fishing Boat

- The Boatbreakers team had a local collection this week (April 2022) to salvage and dispose of a sunken fishing boat from a mooring in Gosport. The boat had gone down in a recent storm and was still attached to the pontoon.
We are not sure why the boat had sunk. Haslar creek is quite a sheltered area of Portsmouth Harbour.
Her engine had been removed after the sinking. It is likely the boat was plundered for anything valuable after the incident.
Aided by our friends at OT Divers and Portsmouth Marine Services the boat was recovered and pulled across to the nearby slipway for us to collect. The video was filmed with our drone and an iPhone 12.
The boat has now been taken to the Boat Scrapyard to be disposed of.

A good video of how not to do salvage. Float bags first then pump then haul out. Definitely some ex navy divers here! 😅
Did anyone else wince when the hull was punctured - I guess that means it wasn't going to be lovingly restored!
This one was never in line to be restored unfortunately. She was a real mess and an insurance write off.
Very good job!
Stirling work, looks like an old Norman cruiser
Fookin' Viking longboat, I say !
It's a Norman 20. I could have had that for parts for my Norman 18.
Sad end to a boat that was once so loved.
Love the reg plate
Thank you! It was very fitting for this job :).
You should do a video of how you dispose of the boat once you get it back to your yard.
A boat in this state would just be crushed down. Some of our older videos have footage of the machines breaking up the hulls. Normally a boat would be stripped of any useful items but this one had nothing worth saving.
Love the number plates
So many old boats need removing don’t they
There are thousands of boats out there that need to be removed. It's a problem that's only going to grow.
Never understood these low, open transom boats
clean the weeds and critters before transport?
So, to be clear: “recent storm” means “within the last 6 years”? Cuz, me man, that was a serious crap-ton of growth on that wreck for two weeks’ worth of “sunken”. Wondering whether she’s worthy of a refit?
To be clear it was two weeks she was under for :).
Better to hold the drone still than all the nauseating movement.
How do you make a boat into a pull behind submarine "hold on I've got a video for you to watch"
The crewman on the barge needs to be shown how to wear a lifejacket
Wish it had audio all the way
just aerial view that sucks I wanted to see down in the water up close
This use to be my boat before I sold it on and shoked to see the status of it
She got caught under the pontoon in a storm and held under for two weeks. An unlucky end for her!
Well that thing was scrap before it sank.
Shame.
Надо было подводные крылья одеть он сам из воды выскочил бы.
No sound
We had some free to use backing music but then the "Artist" changed their copyright so we had to remove :(
How to mot salvage a boat
Nice to see some one taking up sunken boats, many just dont care nowadays. But really bad to have the engine running on your boat, tied to the dock. Both of them too, if it´s not doing any work, then it´s costing money and are bad for the enviroment. Turn them off!
very bad way to do this
Who makes a video with no sound come on people.
Ask CZcams, we had a non copyright song over the top and it was removed because the artist decided to copyright it!
It doesn’t matter how they got that boat out. It was scrap. And why the cheap shot at navy divers. There some of the best in the world 😮
