    I love how you always find older fun books. Mrs Pollifax and now Mrs Jefferies.

    I'm always jealous of people like you, because when I'm sick I can barely open my eyes. I can't even listen to audiobooks, because my head is about to explode.

      I'm sorry that's terrible.😔 That was me last week. Even if I'd been able to read, I wouldn't have been able to turn the page.

      Oh, that's no fun! I definitely get sick like that at times, thankfully my sickness at the beginning of the month wasn't like that!

      I’m with you, I always get jealous at people that are really athletic because I’m not and with my condition it hurts to work out. I can only walk if I’m not in pain. I fall asleep when I read at night. I read in the morning if I don’t do it in the morning I just don’t read. ❤ sending love.

    I have listened to interviews with authors who collaborate on books and it sounds like often one takes the lead. So, one would write and then the other would review and compile the 2 works.

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay

      That would make sense, but in some ways seems like so much more work!

    November was a slow reading month for me. I enjoyed the Mrs. Pollifax books and Chautona books but not much else.

    ‘A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking’ sounds right up my alley. Instantly put it on hold at my library 😁
    I’m glad to hear you liked Defiant. I am looking forward to reading it and seeing how the series wraps up. Hoping to get to it right after the holidays.

    My favorite group noun for animals is a Shadow of Jaguars or a Cackle of Hyenas.
    New releases saved my bad reading month, The Kingdom of Sweets by Erika Johansen 4.5 and Resurrection Walk by Michael Connelly 4.5

    Yes, Molly's stepmother is the WORST!!! I do understand why Molly is such a passive character, but that's just so not the kind of main character we see in most modern books. Which is cool, but also makes rooting for her harder.

    I looove long videos 😅😉, buuuut I totally understand. Hyacinth Claire 😡🤬🤯 SO manipulative! I have the same feelings about her! But I love Molly, Squire Hamley cracks me up, and I actually like Mr. Gibson, too! Oh, and Aimee! If you get a chance, I highly recommend the BBC adaptation. 😅

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay
      @ChantelReadsAllDay  Před 9 měsíci

      Maybe the Christmas one will be a stand alone? So far of the few I've read they give some spoilers for previous mysteries and they do seem to build off of each other.

    I agree about An Enchantment of Ravens. It was fine, but I didn’t love it. I just finished A Wizard’s Guide to Defensive Baking and it was so funny. I understand now why T. Kingfisher is so popular.

    Weyward is def just historical fiction about women experiencing lots of abuse and then a sprinkle of magic at the end. I didn’t hate it and I think the author has potential but it’s not what it was advertised as.

    Molly's stepmother is definitely an awful person - I think narcissistic emotionally abusive people are the worst because they're abuse is the most subtle and sly. And also, I'm probably not in the majority here, but I understand Molly's response, even if I think I would have responded differently. People close to me have been in relationships with people like that and their response has been similar to Molly's. I don't think Molly is a product of her time so much as very normally human. Narcissistic abusive people have a way of keeping their victims under their thumb; that's why they're called abusive. Because of their gaslighting (like in the scene you mentioned), they make it impossible to argue with them and then you start to question yourself and your own understanding. It's a super effective form of abuse and I think that's why this book has stood the test of time. It's very true to reality and human nature, unfortunately.

    People said I wouldn’t be upset at the ending of Wives and Daughters, but I definitely am. I don’t know what it is about Gaskell and endings, but that is why I did not like north and south. The ending was not great. My favorite of her’s is actually Ruth. I don’t think I can read Wives and Daughter’s again. The mother in law was literally awful.

    • @ChantelReadsAllDay
      @ChantelReadsAllDay  Před 9 měsíci +1

      That's too bad you didn't like the endings! I've only read Wives and Daughters and North and South and definitely preferred North and South but I wasn't disappointed by the ending in Wives and Daughters. I do own Ruth and hope to get to it soon!

    • @capturedbyannamarie
      @capturedbyannamarie Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@ChantelReadsAllDay yeah, I think for me I just like when the endings feel very wrapped up, it makes the book more worth it to me. Ruth is sadder than the others, but she brings in her faith more. I really liked it.

    Looks like you have read a lot of great books.
    I have been meaning to ask you - Did you ever get to read and look at the Postcard Book that I sent you. You daughter stole the book from you when you first got it so I was just wondering if you ever got the chance to read and look at it.
    I hope that you feel better

      @@ChantelReadsAllDay Just finished the book last night! Kinda made me want to cry, but surprisingly I was okay with it. It seemed so poetically perfect that I couldn't even be mad about it. I can't wait to see what he does with the Skyward Legacy series.
