Absolutely love your tutorials. Thank you sir.
Awesome, Thanks for watching. Glad we could help. Don’t hesitate to ask any questions
Getting the mounts for each led is critical so they don’t start falling off
The clips work just fine but we can try those on our next video. We have done about 60 installs clipping each light and have had no problems
Great info and great job passing your techniques to others. This install was in my area and looks amazing. I wish you were up here to do my small house. @Govee needs to sponsor you for sure.
Thank you very much for your comment, we really appreciate you taking the time to watch our content and your support. We will continue to do our best to help out and educate others regardless if Govee would like to sponsor us. Yes that would be nice, but I’m here to help in any way I can passing down what knowledge I have of the product. I’m learning something everyday so your questions and comments are a plus to the channel
Hey, what’s going on JD. Love that road trip video that you did in Dallas. What a big house. I noticed in the video you took one of the lights and tucked behind the flashing on the house. So my question to you is, I have one full string. 16 feet and I would like to know if I could cut one light off. Love your videos. Keep up the good work Mike.
Thank you for taking the time to view our content. At the time of the video, I was not aware that you could cut anywhere past 4 lights. Thought it was groups of 4. So cut pass anything 4 lights when ending them like this video. If your just transitioning form eave to eave then cut anywhere. Just make sure to bring the line back together. Hope this helps
I'm in Pflugerville, TX. Is that near you? My house is very similar to this one only the mirror opposite (garage doors on left). Been using the Govee lights on my back patio and fence for a while. Love them. Use them every day. Would love to know approximate price for an install. Great video btw! Enjoy!
We live in Sa, Tx. With our Christmas light installations that have started it is now difficult to maintain a Govee outdoor light travel. Please reach out to our facebook page or IG for a quote
I’m in Allen area. I’ve done many installs in Frisco if you need help let me know. No need to drive up from San Antonio!
lol, if they request my services I’ll be there. We enjoy the drive to be out there for our subscribers. We have a guy out there who does an amazing work that we contract work some of our work to. Thanks anyway
Wish you would come to PA! Is Govee better than trimlight ?
I already mentioned that we would. Take a look at the difference to trim lighting vs Govee using the links below. If you want a diffused lighting using pixel lights then trim light is for you. If you want a cone effect using the puck then Govee is for you.

I am interested in see or learning how you power the lights once you have the lights in the attic? Where do you typically find the outlets to plug into?
Hi there and thank you for your comment. We appreciate your support. If you have 100ft of installation then you will only need one outlet. We do not install them outside anymore. They are bulky and have a potential of coming undone. Most of the time in new homes, one power outlet will be in the center of attic or near a AC unit. Then on that side whether your lights will stream left or right, take the lights a little further back down the sides some so you sit kinda center of the attic. Drill a 5/16 hole to pass the controller extension through and connect your lights, then your power adapter last. For 2, If you have a porch over hang on the left or right, that’s where both your top and bottom lights will start. One on top to the attic, the other bottom to another outlet
Love you work! Do yall install in Corpus Chrisit TX?
We eventually will but we’re a putting some of our out of town Govee installs on hold due to our regular Christmas light installation beginning. We have 60+ loyal clients waiting. We will resume back after January for Govee installs. Thank your for your support and comment. 🙏
@@jbsdiytv i already have the lights 2 100ft govee pro. The wife didnt want me going up with the ladder haha
@@jbsdiytv that would be cool to be the 1st customer yall install for corpus
Yes, that would be awesome. Will definitely shoot content if so. Please let us know if you’re still needing our services then. Thanks for the support
Love the setup, want to pull the trigger, however I noticed most installs of this system have a closed rafters design. Unfortunately in the Pacific Northwest most homes are built with open rafters. Any suggestions to tackle this? Should I just staple the wire to rafters?
Hi thanks for watching. Get a 1/2”x2” Nominal board and use a finishing nailer to place this board 2-4” from the wall. Then mount your lights to that board. You can keep it like that or just paint it to match your open rafters
@@jbsdiytv amazing idea! Thank you. Once the pro line becomes available. I’ll purchase it.
Thanks for the video. Just got my first set of Govee for Christmas. Where would;d you recommend the power supply and controller be located? Attic seems a bit too hot to me.
We usually install them in the attic since that will extend the life of your devices and we are a business that installs them on a regular.i know that it may be good practice but it might not be the option for everyone. Second option is to use a waterproof box to protect the devices from the outdoor elements.
Visit my organized website to find the waterproof box that will fit both devices

There you will find “SHOP PERMANENT LIGHTING TOOLS & ACCESSORIES” hit the drop down and scroll till you see Tycoon
@efthimios yes you can do that. Take a look at my round rock video where we did just this. Drill a 1” hole beside the outlet and connect to it
Hi, do you travel to Rochester ny 😊 we can't seem to find anyone in our area to install them. Most want to install there own temporary lights every year. One guy was charging over $2ooo. What is your normal install charge. I would still like to know charge just to compare if what I'm being told is a fair price
Permanent lighting last a long time and has multiple settings and functions. These Govee lights last a estimated 12-15years with 4-6hrs use a day. Look to pay between $1500-$4000 for 150ft-350ft. $4000 and up if it’s more that 350ft. Since these strands come in white only, some will want them in a different color so now your having to pay for painting price to match soffit color. Keep in mind this pays for itself over the years. You can easily spend $1000 on Christmas Light installs for just a few months and now you have them up for years and different holidays and occasions
Does the controller box and the on/off box need to be inside the house? Looking to do this myself in the northeast and don’t want to be drilling through walls into my house
The controller is IP65 while the lights are IP67. I’ve done a hand full of installs and we only put them inside. We don’t chance the controller failing because one, we don’t want to go back if we have completed the install and two govee doesn’t sale them individually. So far the very first ones we did 2 failed so no need to be chancing it. Govee did replace them but we fixed the issue and we haven’t had any new problems. You won’t need to drill in walls but only one 3/4” hole to pass the first connection into the attic
How much does it cost for installation? I’m very interested in having someone put this together. I’m out in Harker heights TX would love to have y’all come hook my house up. I have 100ft that I just purchased
Really appreciate the comment and consideration for your install. Take a look at the social platforms up top for the links and message us on FB, or IG to get some info from you. Thank you
I have a roof peak and right below a small roof lip from dinning room windows. How do I run a strand of lights to the roof lip and get power to the lights?
We usually don’t light those unless the homeowner absolutely wants it. The only way to do this is that we plan in a way that the overhang is far left or far right so we can jump down. Or have them purchase a 50ft kit to cover the power adapter and controller
Hey, what do you recommend to do if the soffit is plastic but there are only holes in every other soffit piece? I saw that you recommended the hitch pins, which are awesome, but in my case a light may land on the soffit that doesn’t have any holes to use a pin.
It those cases, you can use a Govee clip(or bought out clip) and then use a small wood screw to keep that one in place. I say wood screw because the thread is wider to grab very well as oppose to a fine thread screw which will strip the plastic
Does the groups of 4 LEDs still apply to the PRO version of these lights?
The group of 4's doesn't apply anymore to both editions. Govee has made some changes. We have tested some strands cutting them at lights 5-12 and they still work. I would still hold off going under 4 lights as we have had issues here and there. Thanks for your question
so can you have more then one controller and sync both together?
Yes in same model group, add both devices. You can customize the direction it flows in the advance settings but the Govee presets you can’t so install your lights in one direction. All going left or all going right
what do you offer for warranties on the light installs?
Hello and thanks for your question. Govee has a 1 year manufacturer warranty and you can add more warranty on Amazon when you purchase the lights. As far as what I offer, if a strand goes bad because I’m at fault for not properly waterproofing the spliced connections then I will gladly replace it without any cost to the client. If it’s a manufacturer malfunction, then all you have to do is contact Govee and they will send you strands or sometimes send you a whole 50ft kit. It all depends. Then when that comes in, at my next available route to your location, I will change it out. I will not be replacing items for free unless it’s my fault. Other companies manufacture their own products for permanent lighting and therefore they do lifetime warranties. We are simply taking an online manufacturing product and installing them with limited altering of the line
Are those white lights at the eave corners from the Govee string or another light?
How far are you installing them from the wall?
Hi there and thanks for watching. Please take a look at 12:49. It is mentioned there.
Do you travel to Corpus Christi?
We do travel but currently we are in the state of slowly down on out of town Govee installs as we head into our regular Christmas light installations. We will pickup after the new year. Thank you for your support
Curious on what your pricing looks like for installation?
Hi there, please message us on Facebook @Jbs Holiday and Christmas Lighting LLC or Instagram @ jbsholidayandchristmaslighting for DM on pricing. Thanks for watching our content
Hello, I already installed 100ft. But end of installation I would like to add 3 more strands on it. Do you know does it work or doesn't?
Yes you can add 3 more strands. Just adjust your segments to 9 in the settings. Please let me know if you have made any custom jumps
@@jbsdiytv Do you mean 9 segments are 9 strands? I am just worrying about power supply and remote control can feed extra lights.
@@khash79 we have done multiple installs without issues with 9 strands( 9 segments) on 100ft 1st gen lights. If you don’t have drastic long custom jumps you’ll be fine
Do you have to make every cut at 4 or can you cut it 2 or 3 lights as long as you continue the light strand somwhere else?
Hello, thanks for watching the video. If it’s within the installation, it can be anywhere. This only applies when you end or cut lights for your last strand. So if you have groups of 4, 8, then it finishes at 11….then you’ll have 3 lights not working at all until that 4th light in that group gets put back together. Hope this answers your question
Yes it can be done without any problems. Just connect all the lines back together using small jumps and identify each line with the writing wire, solid wire and strip wire
Love the video, the info, and the break dance finish @ 16:35😂😎,, yes definitely gonna install these, my home will be a much easier install, but you gave me good practical insight,, thk you!
@@rodtrues1 thank you for watching and your support. Glad we could inspire you to take on this challenge to install these Govee lights. Good luck with your installation. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask
how many feet led used in this video.
150ft at the top then the garage overhang was 50ft kit. From that 50ft kit, only one strand was needed. Then the controllers were grouped in app to sync
What wire can you use to Jump if you dont have the govee extension?
Hi there. Thanks for watching. I have placed the link in the description. Thank you for your support. Keep in mind the 18-3 wire is only for small jumps -
2-3ft and make like 3 or 4 jumps max
Thank you for your response. Why is the 18/3 wire limited to 3ft when the factory extentions are 12ft? Also can you create a Y extension to feed 2 gables?
Is there any extension wire you can use to make longer jumps?@@jbsdiytv
Yes, in my Pinterest link there is a 6ft extension from Asahom. They fit inside each other but one side the cap is loose. All I did was put a thin strip of tape around the thread and it stayed tight
do you install ? and your location ?
Hi and thanks for your support to our channel. Yes we do. Located in San Antonio, Tx
Whats the rule for group of 4?
@@hustlewestbrook3021 don’t worry about that anymore. It’s been tested. You just need to end your lights with 4 or more for them to work. If your jumping from eave to eave then you can cut anywhere
OK so cutting anywhere is fine when going eve to eve, the key is the last extension needs at least 4
@@hustlewestbrook3021 that is correct. lol it’s been tough explaining this to everyone so I’m glad you understand. Keep your jumps small, less that 2ft and a minimum of 4 total
Do you travel to Corpus Christi?
We will eventually as we are a small business expanding. We provide Christmas and permanent lighting installs and currently in a full blown schedule for our returning Christmas light clients. We will resume after the new year. Thank you
After many years of installing and then taking down my Christmas lights and several months of investigating permanent lighting options on the internet, I came across JB’s Christmas Lighting and his Govee installation videos on CZcams and was amazed at what I saw. I contacted JB and after several conversations I decided to pull the trigger! JB made the trip to Frisco, Texas and after two long days the Govee installation was complete. JB and his team were amazing…. Very professional and completed one of the most meticulous installation jobs I have ever witnessed. I will never have to install another light on my roof…. Not only for Christmas time, but now I have permanent lighting all year round for every occasion. JB and his team took the extra time to make sure this installation will last many years without issues. Again, I can’t say enough about the professionalism and attention to detail that JB and his team put into my Govee permanent lighting installation. I highly recommend JB and if you are lucky enough to have him install your Govee permanent lighting you will not regret it!
Thank you taking the time for reviewing your home installation video. We put just as much effort into this video as we did with your installation. Your hospitality and your generosity was very much appreciated. Even though we encountered a few hiccups, we did not give up on getting it done right. Thank you to Andrew and my viewers for making this video happen🙏
They also installed mine, and I had more treat or treaters than I have had in previous years, and I give JB lights credit for guiding them to my house. I absolutely love these lights. You're right. They were very professional and did excellent work. I would also highly recommend them.
