  • House Therapy Staging Co. presents a DIY video on how to make a twine globe. Some people may refer these awesome home décor pieces as yarn globes, rope lanterns or twine spheres, but it doesn't really matter because all point to a super chic accessory that you can add to your home today! Here are the supplies I used:
    - roll of jute (you can also use twin, cotton yarn)
    www.michaels.com/bead-landing-...
    - Elmer's glue (about 12 oz.)
    www.michaels.com/elmers-washab...
    - plastic blown up bouncy ball (I used a large one from Walmart). Usually can find these types of balls at Target or sometimes CVS. They are usually located at the end of an aisle in a cage, all together.
    - Lighting swag kit
    www.worldmarket.com/product/b...
    - two large plastic garbage bags
    - 10oz of water
    - two large bowls
    - scissors
    - electrical plate cover
    - light bulb

I just want to add a little something to what she said about NOT TAPING A HOLE FOR YOUR LIGHT SOURSE/SWAG TO GO THROUGH! It will totally work if you do it her way, (obviously, look at the absolutely beautiful end result) and it will be much easier because it does prove a bit more difficult to maintain a perfect hole through tye wrapping process. However, those loose strings that she ended up having to hot glue were actually caused by forcing the yarn into that hole shape at the end. Totally not a big deal, super quick and easy fix but that is whitout a doubt the reason for those loose sttings. I just wanted to note that here for you guys so everyone was aware!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE THIS WITH US! You have proven that it is possible to use twine with the same 1:1 mixture! I have had it lying around for months and am now pregnant with my first baby so I want to do this for the light fixture in her nursery but am not in any position for trial and error and money wasting crafting these days! So thank you for helping give me the go ahead! Ive been making and using yarn balls for years weather it be for christmas gifts or decorations but never tried any other materials!
    Beautiful outcome!

Why not put the bulb in before u stuck it in the hole?
    But awesome! Love it!
But will the Elmer's glue start melting from the heat of the bulb?

I love these. I tried to make 1 to use as a hanging cat bed! Unfortunately it did not come out as great as urs did. I didn't soak the twine, I painted over the twine as I formed it around the balloon. I had it outside to dry, some 15 hrs or so the balloon popped 🤭 It became a jumbled up twin mess IDK. I am going to try again using ur directions & see if I get a better out come. Thanks so much for sharing!

This is AWESOME! Ideas I hadn't thought of yet so thanks so much. I'm making a Basketball hanging light for my nephew so researching. I ordered Orange cord and puff paint so I can add the black stripes. :)

How would you make this waterproof to keep outdoor year round? I tried it with the Elmer's glue and it totally failed once it got humid outside. :(
