This part is not included in the interview that was broadcasted.
You can hear RM's honest stories such as his thoughts on the recent small concert and why the title of his first solo album is INDIGO.

'뉴스를 만나다' 순서입니다. K-팝의 대표주자라고 해야겠죠. 방탄소년단 BTS가 내년에 결성 10주년을 맞는다고 합니다. 며칠 전 멤버 가운데 '진' 씨가 군 입대를 해서 외신들이 주목하기도 했었죠. 오늘(18일) '뉴스를 만나다'에서는 BTS의 리더이고, 또 최근에 솔로 앨범을 내서 주목을 받고 있는 RM 씨를 만나보겠습니다. 어서 오십시오
Now it’s time for “Meet the News.” The front runners for K-pop, BTS will mark their 10th anniversary next year. And a few days ago, one member of the group, Jin started his military service and it drew attention from foreign media. At today’s Meet the News, we’re going to meet the leader of BTS, RM. He is now under the spotlight after recently releasing his first solo album. Thank you for coming.

I feel really awkward since I am here alone.
그래도 UN에서 연설하신 경험도 있으시니까.
But you even gave a speech at the UN.

솔로 앨범은 이따가 또 얘기하겠지만, 이달 초에 내셨고.
We will come back to your solo album later, but you released it early this month.

빌보드 차트에서 성적이 좋더라고요. 물론 더 올라갈 수도 있겠습니다만.
It is doing well on the Billboard. But of course your ranking may go up higher.

요즘 교양 예능 프로그램이라고 해야 할까요. 거기서 이제 MC도 맡으셨고.
And nowadays you are also co-hosting an edutainment show.

솔로 앨범도 내셨고. 또 얼마 전에는 소규모 콘서트도 하신 거로 들었습니다.
You launched a solo album, and not long ago, you held a small concert, too.

바쁘실 것 같은데. BTS 때랑 비교하면 그래도 좀 여유가 상대적으로 있는 편입니까. 어떻습니까.
You must be busy, but compared to the time as BTS, do you feel like you have relatively more leeway or what?
여유가 상대적으로 있는 편인데. 아무래도 밀도가 좀 높아진 것 같아요. 보통 BTS로 활동하다 보면 이제 팀이니까.
제 몫이 7분의 1 아니겠습니까. 근데 혼자 하다 보니까 밀도나 농도가 굉장히 짙은. 제가 많은 걸 해내야 하기 때문에.
밀도가 좀 높아지는 감이 있습니다.
I do have relatively more leeway but it feels like things are getting more intense. Usually when we are performing together as a group, my share is just 1/7. But now that I am doing everything by myself, it’s very dense and intense. I have to do a lot on my own, so I feel like things are more intense.
밀도가 높아져서 더 부담감도 커졌습니까.
As it gets more intense, do you feel more pressure?
아무래도 제 이름으로 모든 것들이 진행되는 거니까. 부담도 상당히 있지만, 재미도 또 7배로 있을 때도 있는 것 같습니다.
Yes, because everything is happening in my name, I am under a lot of pressure. But sometimes it feels 7 times more fun.
그렇군요. 200명 콘서트. 소규모로 진행을 엊그저께 하셨다고 들었는데. (네 그렇습니다.) BTS 때는 몇만 명을 앞에 두고 콘서트를 하시다가 그렇게 소규모 콘서트를 하시면 느낌이 많이 남달랐을 것 같아요.
I see. I heard you held a small concert a few days ago with 200 fans. (Yes, I did.) When you were together as BTS, you used to perform in front of tens of thousands of fans. But when you performed at a small concert hall like that, did you feel differently?
사실 그 공연장이 제가 어렸을 때 홍대에서 아마추어, 길거리에서 음악하고 노래하고 랩 하고 그랬을 때 홍대에서 가장 공연하고 싶었던 공연장이었어요. 그래서 홍대 쪽에서 가장 유명한 분들이 그 공연장에서 공연하셨거든요. 그래서 제가 데뷔한 지 10년 만에 그 공연장에서 드디어 공연을 할 수 있게 된 거죠. 그래서 말씀해 주신 것처럼 무수한 스타디움에서 많이 공연한 경험이 있습니다마는 특별한, 굉장히 특별한 경험이었습니다. 제가 어렸을 때, 15년 정도 전에 음악을 처음 시작했을 때 가장 공연을 하고 싶었던. 마포에 있는, 홍대에 있는 공연장입니다.
Actually, when I was young, singing and rapping on the streets in Hongdae as an amateur musician, this concert hall was where I wanted to perform the most. The most popular musicians in Hongdae performed at this venue. So, at last, 10 years after my debut, I could perform at this venue.
So as you said, I have performed in countless stadiums, but this was indeed a very special experience. When I was young, when I starting music about 15 years ago, this concert hall in Hongdae, Mapo was the most desired venue I wanted to perform at.

I am always amazed (but not surprised) at the way Namjoon is able to adapt to the variety of interviews he has participated in for his album, Indigo. From being casual and hilarious (Psick University) to formal, and more serious as in Zach Sang and this interview - his capability to honestly reflect and communicate his thoughts to the interviewer and audience are admirable. Thank you KBS for having Namjoon on your program and re-playing the entire episode with English sub-titles. His album, to me, is really a masterpiece. I appreciate all his hard work, efforts and thoughtfulness. Thank you Namjoon!!!

Am never bored hearing RM talk
Rm is the Artist who can talk and really explain his art. You can see by his answers how much he enjoys, puts effort and respects what he does. Amazing man, amazing Artist.
Fantastic interview, diving into the depths with RM and his "diary entries"; where at times he speaks poetry instead of mere sentences; humbled by the crown he wears; balanced by the strength, as a member of BTS he takes with him; and the Rhythm And Poetry he tracked while walking the streets of Hongdae. My God, we as Army are entrusted to hold with grace in our hearts our devotion and belief in them as artists. What a gift. What a gift.

RM is a rare talent. Bang Si-Hyuk saw the potential in him. He could have become an ordinary businessman or writer if he was not introduced to Bang PD. I am inspired by this thoughtful young man who has perserved thru the hard times & stayed grounded while always delivering his sincerity thru music. He kept his promises to his parents, Army & even haters - that he will conquer the hearts of many with his music.

I always appreciate how intentional Namjoon is about his choices; down to walking the streets he walked in before and thinking back to how he felt in that exact moment, just to try and go back to basics, I respect that so much. Thank you for releasing the uncut footage, I loved hearing him speak in depth about why he chose the title INDIGO and what that means to him, and I love the fact that he is at a point where he is balancing being the leader of BTS and at the same time the artist RM; that is no easy feat, and he is doing wonderfully.

The first day of 2023 is over, and I guess I am welcoming the new year watching this interview.
Although classified as a "cold" color, blue has always been my favorite one. I know its freedom, its depth, and the intangible stories hiding in its comforting silence.
Namjoon and his "Indigo" are just like that - comfortable warmth coming from an unexpected, quiet depth.
In a world full of flashes and screams, with not enough poetry and organic affection, I am grateful for such a soul connection.

I agree with Namjon. If at some point in your life you have to put on a mask to hide the real feelings that are tormenting you. You feel unfulfilled, burdened, lost and insecure. It's best to go back to the beginning of your artistic path, which will show you the right direction. Happy is the one who can just be himself

I really appreciate the effort to show the whole interview with good subtitles. I am an older army and I use to listen very carefully and think about what people are allowed to say. Namjoon is always very aware of what should not be said publically. and as I read through the comments, people trust his words, I wonder: If I have a better time now, more leeway, more time for myself to work AND enjoy life, do I really want to go back? how should bts work after 2025? they should not return to the way it was but how could it be.... there must be a way. I hope so.
I think so too. I think that in 2025 ARMYs will show up in a new version, because the passage of time will require it. Don't look back, just move forward.

Oh my gosh... they are so formal but also very engaged at the same time. The interviewer has done a wonderful job to give us an insight to RM´s mindset but also he kept his distance. I like that a lot. I am trust BTS and the members will come back glorious after fulfilling their duty.

I've listened to him talk and describe his album in detail countless times and I still watched this. There's a certain joy in hearing this person talk💜
Namjoon was really an inspiration to me when he spoke. He really derives his words very clean and clear of his point. It doesn't bend easily for what he believes and he knows, and it doesn't affect nor influence to change his thoughts or what he knows to be said in one conversation. He always carried himself very well-respected to receive his words and understandable. Thank you, Joonie for always giving us a learning you didn't know you did 😊
I just learned that RAP means Rhythm And Poetry, and you don't become a Poetics, you did it in another world which is in music and in lyrics as what you have said.
I love Indigo. It is really a personified diary of yours that every time I listen to it, it goes with me into another life. Thank you RM for making music and releasing the music you like and continuing on creating Music as a healing medicine power we all needed.
