  • Stanley Jordan (born July 31, 1959) is an outstanding American jazz guitarist whose technique involves tapping his fingers on the fretboard of the guitar with both hands.
    Jordan's touch technique is an advanced form of two-handed tapping. The guitarist produces a note using only one finger by quickly tapping (or hammering) his finger down behind the appropriate fret.
    He was the first artist signed to the Blue Note label started by Bruce Lundvall in 1985. Blue Note released his album Magic Touch, which sat at No.1 on Billboard 's jazz chart for 51 weeks, setting a record.
    Stanley Jordan played with Quincy Jones, Benny Carter, Dizzy Gillespie, The Dave Matthews Band, and numerous other artists.
    This outstanding solo recording was made during Stanley Jordan’s first visit to the North Sea Jazz Festival in the Congress Building, The Hague, The Netherlands on 11 July 1987.

    Really, SUPERNATURAL!!!! This One-Man-Band performance is akin to BACH-MOZART-BEETHOVEN penning a carefully manuscript masterpiece opus, collectively. This visual and audial wonderment is the equivalent, in human experience, in discovering King-Kong, ET or any phenomenon - such enigmatic magic simply steals your breath away and places one UNDER ARREST. Stanley Jordan Stands Alongside Any Greatest Human Being In The History Of Mankind.

    It's like piano on the guitar. Completely ridiculous. George Van Eps invented the concept of Lap Piano on the 7-string hollowbody, which he also invented, but to me this is the logical successor. Ineffable.
    Not only that, but he is in fact playing the bass line, chord harmonies, and the melody statements at the same time. It is a very very high order of playing.
    Do yourself a favor, just go to 44:51 in this video.

    *This is EXACTLY, whom EDDIE VANHALLEN learned the 2 hand technique from...! YET, gives no credibility to the brother whom came before him! ...It was only KARMA, that Vito Bratta came up watching Eddie, then learned his licks and improved on Eddies own technique and took it to a whole another level - right here in Eddie's haye-day, and begun a path to OUTSHINE EDDIE VANHALLEN, as Eddie STOLE Stanley Jordan's craft and PORTRADE to the world AS IF he himself came up with it - fueled by bottomless budget MOB MONEY in the music industry - so as to say it louder and faster to more folk of the world - crystalizing his name as the first to do that technique.....! ...Then of course EDDIE VANHALLEN recognized Vito Bratta doing it to him, but publically paying Eddie his respects at the same time, EDDIE NATURALLY used his political weight to have VITTO BRATTA career in music DESTROYED, during the mid 1990's, when WHITE LION was on Tour with Van Hallen, and more people, especially the ladies was checking for Vito! ..................And now you all know*

    i can't understand why people like listening to this, the tone is so terrible like why not just play normal and hire a bassist it makes no sense to me why you would sacrifice the tone so much just to be able to do this trick

    • @isheetfromaswhole3657
      @isheetfromaswhole3657 Před rokem

      The music is terrible because his music is technically correct. His feel for music is purely mechanical. His tapping isn't what makes it bad. If he played normally, then it would still be awful because he just doesn't have a feel for music. There is a reason nobody has heard of this person.
