Seriously , this is arguably the greatest live performance ever filmed.
Been my all time favorite for many years.❤️😂
There's nothing that can compare. It's the ONLY live performance that should be mentioned as the greatest live performance of the 20th century.
@@xciteful
It is the most impressive live performance of the 20th century, according to The Rolling Stone Magazine!
Could not agree more!! Elvis greatest single performance and possibly the greatest of all time in music.
Elvis should have received an Oscar for this live Performance for his vocals, interpretation, acting talent, heartfelt emotion, range of tones, perfect phrasing, perfect pitch, perfect everything.......and Face of the Century!!
He really supported MLK....this was a tribute to him.
did he go to his funeral?
Always something New from you, zappa fan hahahaha, i misjudged you, hahahaha 🤣🤣
This performance is perfection
🙌🏾
I'm a huge Elvis fan it makes me so happy to see young people discovering him. thank you so much.
Yeah me too Paula🕺
Absolutely my feelings as well.
My dad loved him and I became obsessed with everything about him from the age of 15… I’m 29 now and nothing has changed.
You can't deny the quality, that was powerful
People don't realize that elvis was a very caring man and loved everyone and very generous
I second that emotion
absolutely! glorious human being
I love the Unity n love He expressed in this beautiful song😁👍😍❤️😍👍👍😁
I disagree ... He was very well known for his generosity and love of humanity ....
It wasn't just for MLK and Kennedy. It was for the boys too in Vietnam. The red scarf was remembering the ones he heard who have died. It got him really upset.
It's a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr, and Robert Kennedy, ❤ The GOAT 💯 God bless you guys, 🇵🇷🇺🇸🙏
Elvis Presley the best singer on artist all times. Always the King of music forever, Elvis Presley.
We need this song out on the air waves,,,,its even more relevant these days.
We definitely do need songs like this in heavy rotation now a days……Rob 🔒

Just Elvis singing! No auto tune, just pure talent.
stage presence, good looks, charisma!!!!! He's the bomb!!

NO COMPUTERS... NO SYNTHESIZERS...NO LIP-SYNCING... PURE TALENT AND PURE LIVE VOICE!!!!
It's not a song. It's an EXPERIENCE!👌👑
Hit the nail on the head!

Elvis presley possessed a chameleon voice.
He was soul depth and diversity personified. An iconic artist, the likes of which may never be seen again.
Elvis spoke to Steve Binder (producer) and Earl Brown (songwriter) about his feelings about the state of the world. Steve then asked Earl to write a song that summed up what Elvis had said. This was the result.
That’s a fact Mr. Webb🕺
What an amazing and classic result......Rob 🔒
The song was written and recorded in 24 hrs of that conversation. Not many people know that.
GOAT. No one comes close.
The Greatest Of All Time, The Revolutionary, Humanitarian, Best Looking, The King Elvis ! Elvis is emotional in this video, MLK Tribute shorty after his assassination, Elvis memorized MLK'S If I Can Dream Speech !
If you pay attention to him and the music, he is directing the band with his movements. All the time.
Definitely didn’t know that and that dope that he’s able to do it while putting on a great performance……Rob 🔒
@@Roblockdn That's Elvis.
I never heard this song before this year...I'm 57. Where was I?? Brought to tears, praying we can live this dream before I die. Love to all!!
Two words..... THE KING ❤️❤️
He is the best!! Love, Love about Martin Luther King Jr. which makes it ever better!! My two hero’s!!!
I cried during that. He’s pleading to God to please let his Dream come true right now. He never sang this again after that performance. He felt it was too important too do it in his concerts etc. His loving tribute to MLK & Bobby Kennedy was right on. May they all RIP. All gone way too young. It’s a song that Could be written for today & that was back in 1968. Amazing. Thanks so much for playing this.
Elvis is one of the most recognized & famous people in music history, & no doubt, one of the most talented, however his heart & love for humanity, is his true legacy 💗💚💜 I wish with every fiber of my being, that his dream would come true right now!!! 💗💚💜 RIP **Martin Luther King** RIP **Robert Kennedy** RIP **Elvis Presley** 💗💚💜 3 amazing men, who tried to change to world for the better, & paid the ultimate price 😔 ******GREAT REACTION GUYS******

Elvis is his own genre! He could do anything: blues, pop, rock, pop, country, gospel-Sing, sang, dance, choreograph, act, play instruments. If you haven’t checked out and or react to Elvis and the Black Community part 1. It explains who he was.
This needs to be blasted all over the radio RIGHT NOW!!!!
This song was Elvis' tribute to MLK. After he sang this song he went backstage in a fetal position and cried because he gave it all he had and it was very emotional.
Documentation please for your assertion for the first dozen words of your second sentence.
No it is not a tribute to mlk.
@@timcarr6401 look it up, lazy AZZ
@@CjJohns1776 Look, all you had to do was say that you heard it somewhere or that it sounded good to you. But don't try to back out by being so immature. Since you won't admit your blunder, you are like those who spread urban myths.
@@timcarr6401 "If I Can Dream" is a song made famous by Elvis Presley, written by Walter Earl Brown and notable for its direct quotations of Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 "I Have a Dream" speech.
That comes up upon a quick google search was If I can dream dedicated to MLK, and when Elvis did sing this it was not long after MLK was assassinated.
In most of the Elvis live performance videos you get Elvis the entertainer - the flashy outfits, the dancing, the banter with the audience and his band. In this video you are witnessing Elvis the man - just him on a stage, pouring his heart and soul into every single word he's singing!
Elvis is in no doubt 100% the best singing live with Tom Jones singing “I’ll never fall in love again” a very very close second ♥️
So great to see people finally realise he wasn't just doing The Jailhouse Rock 🎶😯
Appreciate I honestly forgot he did that song, I only remembered heartbreak hotel......Rob 🔒
Those were difficult times, racism wasvery strong and nobody wanted him to sing this song but he did it, was dangerous, he admired MLK very much
If I Can Dream ..... Was written by Earl Brown ..... For ALL the trauma that was in the 60's created by the Deep State ...... The killings of John Kennedy ..... Robert Kennedy ..... Martin Luther King ..... And all the killing of the soldiers of the wars ..... As the red scarf Elvis wore was for the soldiers ..... It was written for those reasons ..... And not just for just one .... But all the killings ..... Someone some-were along the line SOMEONE posted the rumor about it being for MLK .... And that rumor was born ..... However it was for all of it ..... So if you don't understand that the song was written for all ..... And not just one after reading this posting ..... Then you don't know Elvis ..... Then you just don't know Elvis .....Elvis sang it to the world ..... For all the death and destruction in that decade ...... As it not only hurt him ..... But the planet of people wanting peace on Earth ..... That the controllers fights ...... Every step of the way ..... UNDERSTAND ..... Cause once you know the real Elvis ..... You'll know a truly God given talent ...... And why he sang it to the world ..... {The reach for peace} ..... No Brag ..... Just Fact ......
Yea, he went all the way out on that limb and he didn't sing quiet or shy either..
Only his manager didn't want him to sing it. It wasn't a lot of people saying not to sing it.
The.most shocking thing to happen was the persistent rumours that Elvis was a racist person. It still permeates through younger generations because of famous people labeling him that way and taking the stories as fact because that's all they have heard.
He was not a racist although he was accused of that.
I had lunch with George Klein (Elvis best friend)about 15 years ago. We got on to the subject of this performance. He told me that Elvis was very upset over the asassinations of MLK AND BOBBY KENNEDY, and wanted to end the show with a tribute song. Colonel Parker wanted a Christmas song. Elvis was persistent and ended the show with what I believe is the greatest live performance of all time. Whatever the reason, or what we believe, we can agree he was ahead of his time, and also, this is what I was told by his best friend. and Yes , he was so emotional after the performance, that he went backstage and cried.
This was written as a tribute to Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy. I’m so happy you loved the performance and you got the message! Elvis is the King!
It's just Elvis showing his greatness and knowlege of the country at that point in time... he never wrote a song but dang... he could sing it and make everyone love
If you want to know the true Elvis, watch the Searcher on Netflix. You will finally see who Elvis was behind what c.parker put in front of everyone. He had talent and musical brilliance that connected every race and genre throughout every generation. He is what brought music to us all. We tend to forget that because of all the crap Elvis was forced to paint his life with to be heard. That you both for playing this truly spectacular performance on your channel.
Awesome !!! - Bridge Over Troubled Water Live 1970 -
A master piece then, a master piece now and a master piece in 100 years.
He sang in my opinion the greatest live performance ever, then went backstage and cried. This told to me from his best friend George Klein.
This was the closiing finale of the '68 comeback special, this IS the best version.
This song was a tribute to Dr.Martin Luther king his good friend. It is said that when he went back stage after singing that song and broke down in tears.
Passion..the one thing no artist will ever top Elvis on! Passion!
Elvis il crevé tous les écran le plus photographie au monde et holywod aucun chanteur ou acteur arrive à sa classe trop trop classe le plus beau à voir à la télé Amérique c est elvis
Elvis sang many styles that rocker voice and then he gets that silky voice the rockabilly voice the bluesy n soulful voice and this timeless song is relevant today
Sometimes you forget just how powerful Elvis can sing! I never heard this song either. Talk about touching your soul
Seriously has me in awe and speechless for most parts……Rob 🔒
Check out Elvis and the Black Community and you’ll see why he was so passionate with this song.
This was his heartfelt tribute in reaction to Dr. King's & Bobby Kennedy's assignations.
His voice truly resonated to the world that love peace and understanding is the way forward
Elvis was a awesome singer. How great thou art is an amazing song in 1977 he’s gives it everything he has.. Also in 1977 the media was asking people what they liked about Elvis. You should see their reactions. A couples house had caught on fire and burned to the ground and I ended up in the hospital the husband overnight, but they came to Ellis’s concert because they didn’t want to miss it.
I’m so happy Elvis is being discovered by people who only know the caricature of him. He is the greatest singer of the 20th century. As John Lennon said, “ Before Elvis, there was nothing.” If you weren’t alive in the ‘60s, it’s hard to realize how decisive and tumultuous the times were. Elvis was very patriotic and mourned the deaths of MLK and RFK. MLK was killed in Memphis, Elvis’s hometown and he always said MLK spoke the truth. This song was a tribute to both leaders and used words from MLK’s I Have a Dream speech. Elvis sang his heart out. He did not perform this song after because it was meant to be a special tribute.
Elvis had this song written for him in 1968 to be the final song in his 1968 TV special. This video is of an additional filming he did in the studio with no audience. He wore a white suit rather than one of his typical concert costumes. He dedicated this song to MLK and his quest for a dream. Elvis grew up in poverty in primarily black neighborhoods in Tupelo, MO and Memphis, TN. He sang gospel at a local, black Baptist church in Memphis while in high school. Check out a video "Elvis and the Black Community".
Top performers of all time Elvis Freddie Mercury and Pavarotti in my humble opinion.
right on guys, its been one of my favorite Elvis songs , showing the king with one of his best performances, live , passionate, great vocals , feeling the pulse of the 12/8 on the outro ,swinging his arm back and forth and the cherry that the song had so much importance and meaning as he performed it as a tribute . Great lyrics so inspiring and positive " If I Can Dream " . Right on Elvis, you left the world with a gem of a performance , and good to see the recognition your receiving for it . Thankyou.
The king make me cry 😢, he is unbelievable
🙌🏾
A tribute to MLK and Senator Kennedy. Elvis left everything he had on the stage that night.
Elvis put all of his heart and soul into his music and it shows. GOOD REACTION.
You will never witness another live performance as perfect as this one. Perfection. Period. End. Of. Story.
God given talent, King of music Elvis Aaron Presley. Greatest of all times

Don’t feel bad you didn’t know Elvis could sing like this. I got into Elvis after watching the movie and I can’t stop watching his performances now. I had no idea he could sing like this. Everyday I keep finding one great performance after another.
Elvis recorded Exactly 769 songs ..... The more you know ..... The more he becomes .....
That's why they call him the king ,!!! He could sing anything and sang from the heart !!! Great job !
Not a huge Elvis music fan. Don't get me wrong, talented as heck. Beautiful voice etc.
But as for the man....RESPECT. I think he was one of the rare people who had empathy for others, a belief that one( himself) is of no more importance than others. Had a desire to do what is Right.
Had is flaws as all do, but recognized them and tried to overcome them.
Until someone mentioned it, I didn't realize that he was forming a peace sign with his body at the end. Remarkable, unparalleled singer and amazing human being. Thank you, Elvis, and rest in peace.

Elvis fan for over 50 years and this is my favorite. Sang it once live……mic drop. Red Scarf was for Service members lost in Vietnam. He’s still waiting for that to happen 🙏
He is hitting you with the Gospel. Never doubt.
"I'm really lost for words on this one."
What an amazing reaction to this phenomenal song. This tribute to Dr Martin Luther King Jr. is from his 1968 Comeback Special, and as you noted, Elvis sang with so much conviction and passion. He admired Dr King (some Elvis fans tend to claim that they were friends but there's no substantiated proof of this) and was devastated to hear of his murder.
Such a shame that a 1968 song with a message about racial reconciliation remains too relevant today.
I really appreciated your reaction and I hope you enjoy checking out Elvis: during his 1954-1977 career, he sang just about every genre of music: from country to rock n roll, gospel, rhythm and blues and pop.

Well you were mostly correct. It was a tribute to Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy.
@@ronaldpoddig6188 This was mostly for his friend Dr.MLK. He was just assinated weeks before he made this tribute to MLK, Dr. King was murdered 3 blocks away from Graceland, Elvis was devastated, and even broke down after he sang this song, and BTW he did drop the mike at the end,, that's how upset he was. His backup singers even said they never saw Elvis sing like that. History people 💔❤🔥❤🩹

I can't express how unbelievably touched to see this great man being reintroduced and introduced to those who never knew of him. He revolutionized the culture and music as we know it today. The movie was the vehicle that started the re-emergence and I am so grateful for all that made it possible. It brought Elvis back to where he should have been all this time.
