  • Welcome to Loutro, one of the most beautiful places in Crete and all of Greece. It is truly is a Greek Island hidden paradise and one of our favorite beach destinations to visit in all of the world.
Loutro lies on the south coast of the Chania region in west Crete, between Chora Sfakion and Agia Roumeli, the exit to the Samaria Gorge. This magical fishing village is only accessible by foot or by sea, and Ferries run daily connecting Loutro to nearby towns. There is no better place to disconnect from the outside world than here while relaxing on the pebble beach with turquoise water slowing lapping back and forth. The little village is lined with tavernas serving up traditional Greek food and fish from the Mediterranean Sea. Our favorite restaurant is Ilios, where you can sometimes see locals playing traditional Greek music and dancing on the weekends.

Thanks so much for posting this. My wife and I have so many amazing memories staying here not once but twice. We stayed both times at Hotel Porto Loutro who were kind enough to pick us up in their boat with our cases because we missed the last ferry from Sfakia to the east on arrival in Crete from the airport and the taxi ride over the mountain. Our bedroom faced the beach directly and got amazing views from our bed including the ferry looking like it would come directly in to the bedroom itself. We loved it so much and hope we may return one day. We were last there around 2000-2001 and I can say from your video that it just hasn't changed a bit. I'm guessing it may still be this way in another 20 years too. An absolute gem. Thanks again.

Question please? How you get the rental boat to go to Loutro and how much you charter one way? Thank you so much for the information. Your video is a great inspiration

You can find the rental boat at the end of the walking area in the town.

Best wifi in town. We stayed at a lot of the places in Loutro, and Molos is the newest, and that also means best wifi and aircondition 👍😊
