    Great video, really enjoying your discussions on Necromunda. By the way, we play that knocking someone off a ledge does "directly cause someone to go out of action" (and it is still on their turn and a part of their activation) so they will get the XP for it. Falling off is a result of the action, e.g. shooting with knockback or whatever. That's how we see it and it does feel right and adds a few XP each campaign. Once the Attacker's activation is over, then yea, they won't get any XP if the guy dies in recovery.

      That's a good idea, and still a good way to not lose track of who did what!

    If you set someone on fire, they fall off a ledge and then go out of action you DO get the XP now as it’s ‘owing to your action’ as per the latest FAQ.
    Also a great watch

    This series of videos have been excellent sad that I've caught up (but it does mean my campaign start date is closer)

    Advancements in Necromunda are really a mess. There are a lot of scenarios where it's better to retire fighters and buy new ones than to advance them. What we've attempted so far to make advancements actually FEEL like an advancement is to a) reduce the increased credit values for advanced fighters, b) make promotions to champion or - god emperor forbid - leader more impactful by giving it a free accuracy increase (BS or WS), primary stat increase (M, S, T, W, I or A) and secondary stat increase (LD, CL, WIL, INT) of +1 each. We've also thought of even adding a free skill, but were not sure yet if that would be too powerful after all.
    We've also added more ways of earning XP, especially for juves and gangers, but that's another topic.

    One thing you didn't mention, is that promoting can change what skills a character has access to- both in terms of the skill trees they can learn from, and also any potential baked in skills a certain rank may have.

    The promotion mechanic is so hard to pull off and does so little to change a fighter's ability. It would be cleaner if they just deleted it from the rules - not worth layering on additional house rules to try to fix that design error.

    I’m playing a homebrew version of the game where everyone rolls randomly for advancements (more in the vein of Oldmunda)

    I have been playing that if someone dies to blaze, the model that set them on fire gets the xp, as they are responsible for setting them on fire. Does not seem to have caused any particular issue.

    So is it a real rule that every time you upgrade your gang if the other gang is lower rated they get more cards and bonuses or is that only something people add if they want???

    • @miniaturesrundown
      @miniaturesrundown  Před 6 měsíci +2

      In the basic rulebook, the missions will have a section where they state if one gang gets bonuses for being significantly under the other in power. Usually it's another tactic card for each 100 credits. Several other supplements add additional "underdog" rules, ranging from "House Patronage" to "Underdog tactics" which are very powerful. Like all additional supplemental rules these rules are up to Arbitrator discretion, but they're not really 'house rules' because they were written by the rules writers. Usually you want to have a discussion with your group at the start of your campaign on how you're going to handle power differences as the campaign goes on. Between the supplements there's a few official was to handle it, not necessarily ones you should overlap or use all at once.
