Great presentation!...First rate audio/camera and a genial host. Chris Smither is an absolute treasure. Hoping here that in time, people who have never experienced him live in an intimate setting will seize the opportunity to do so. Do not pass on the chance!! Praying Chris remains healthy.....looking forward to seeing him on the road again. Thanks again, for sharing this.
In 1999 I requested a song by this gentleman twice, was denied the third time. I didn't own the CD, so I asked the radio station, 2:45 in the morning, the last time. I could read the smile on the DJs face when he said "thats enough, maybe quit coding tonight and go to sleep", I didn't. Code was written, I got an A for the assignment. The song was that Drive thing...thanks Mr. Smither....you sing pretty to thoughtlesness SIR. That song was about "data per se" coming to roost on "a" table! My table for holding THOUGHT. I was going to Cabrillo College for Java Programming. The problem we were assigned was Knight's Tour or a Database from Scratch. Data belongs on a grid correlatable to all people, thoughts, movements, sidewalks, stuff, you know. I am good at data I am good at cutting wood. I'm good at picking music:) Wish I had the CD Piggly Wiggly.
Having been born in Lake Charles, raised to a teen in Shreveport with years of college in Baton Rouge plus weekends in Ne.w Orleans, I feel that essence and he is so right. You don't know how it has influenced you because you atent getting an objective viewpoint. Those lyrics I think are also speaking to and as a musician. It's a misunderstood place as well.

@@damianevans5777 yes he is good that was 2 years ago. Never understood why an artist would alienate 40 percent or more of the us population. Some anti maga remark but not a big deal.
Recently discovered Chris. Listening to him is always a placid grounding experience.

first saw Chris Smither at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr, PA in 1976. He was great. Still is.

November 11, 2023 - Armistice Day
In loving memory of the 20 million killed in WW I - total deaths including civilians
80 million in WW II
2 million 300 thousand in Korea
1 million 363 thousand in Vietnam
all the fallen in the Middle East
Armistice Day
In honor of all who serve
Thank you for the lives you save
and the freedoms your love gave
Warriors for the good
the good of humankind
the kind of courage that would
give their lives for us anytime
they'd do more if they could
'Our' great warriors of America
We are so grateful for all you've done
and we're ready to give back
to every American daughter and son
that braved an enemy attack
to help you heal
till you can celebrate yourselves with us
your courage and your zeal
We worship adore and cherish
each and every one of you
and we'll never forget
all the trauma you went through
the blood the gore
with you we will ask
"what for"
and we'll call them to task
when they're called to answer
the questions they'll ask
will not alter 'Our' course
as we help rebuild your pride
and you'll all get rides
in the parades where freedom
in America and the World resides
safe in the bosom of peace and love
for 'Our' great sisters and brothers
who rise above
that fight for us all
we will accept no others
we celebrate those not afraid of the fall
we will stand with and uphold you all
and you will get your benefits
and those cowards never will prevail
that try to deny what you won with courage
'Our' birthright
'Our' heritage
you all wear the heroes badge
we will fight with you all the way
and we will celebrate you all
on 'Armistice Day'
With love and deep gratitude, The Colvin Family

White man blues. Its cool
He’s pretty much beyond blues. It’s blues inspired, and he does do some straight blues tunes, but he’s really his own thing which is why we love him!
Sound engineer needs to cut out some of that sibilance.
would have loved this but the slide comment about Maga - see ya
Adios
I didn't hear it. What did he say? He seems like a great guy. Only recently discovered his music. So good.
