So being someone who was born mid 60s I grew up with vinyl but vinyl scratched, popped, jumped etc.
So I would buy an album on vinyl on more or less make a tape copy on the first play. The album then got put away. You could then listen to the tape in a Walkman or a tape player.
The other joy of tapes was making your own compilation of songs you liked (or record the chats off the radio).
That is so cool!!
im 1984.... phill collins is my music
Love it!!
I have this theory that some of market availability is value-driven. That one of the reasons it's hard to find cassettes (and 8-tracks) is that they don't have the monetary value of vinyl. But if (hypothetically) tapes all of a sudden had a huge market value, they would all of a sudden show up in every store.
Wow. I think this is spot on! Never occurred to me. I hope you’re right!!
I started out buying cassettes and have a huge collection of which the majority still sound great. my Phil and Genesis began on cassette and I love them as that's where I came in. i have the love songs double got it from Thailand I think.
So cool!!
I have Spot The Pigeon on cassette. From Argentina. My vinyl Spot The Pigeon is from Canada and I’ve got the cd from England.
Oh that would be a cool one to find!!
I love his tunes 😄😁😆
This week i bought mike and the mechanics (the 1st álbum) on cassette, argentinian edition. Sounds great!
Awesome!
i still have my "But Seriously"-cassette from 1989 (also got the CD).
I thought I was the World's biggest Phil Collins/ Genesis fan, but my friend I was wrong. Its cool to see there's someone else out there obsessed with Phil and Genesis as much as me. Anyways I love your channel. I have a real nice cassette of Buster I'd be happy to send ya. If you can let me know where to send it I will.
Haha amazing! And thank you!! Send me an email info@everythingphilcollins.com or dm on insta. @everythingphilcollins
@EverythingPhilCollins Will do after work. It's good condition too. We may not know each other but anyone who loves Phil Collins and Genesis as much as I do is automatically considered a friend.
I agree, I absolutely love cassettes. I don’t really play them, just like to have them. My FV cassette is my most treasured.
Awesome!
I used to have a whole lot of tapes by Phil Collins/Genesis. If I didn’t needed room I’d still have those tapes. Long story short we took our tapes (my girlfriend included in this) bought it to her sister for safe keeping, but her husband got rid of all the tapes. I actually wanted to see what I had for my excel file I have to make myself a tape collection sheet. Your pal Bill
Hope they turn up one day. :)

I grew up with vinyl and 8-tracks, but it was cassettes that dominated my music collection in the 80s(my vinyl was mostly stand up and Broadway shows). If I had to take a guess, the shapes album was my first G/PC purchase, and I had most everything on cassette, and most on vinyl. My first CD purchase was Fish's first solo album, Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors, a full year before I even got a CD player.
So cool!
The only cassette in my collection that did melt is Peter Gabriel's III.
("II" is the only CD that did scratch, obviously).
I like that Indonesian Tarzan! I recently picked up the Indonesian Brother Bear cassette, but even though I’ve got multiple Tarzan cassettes I don’t think I have one from Indonesia. I tend to avoid later releases on cassette, especially compilations like Hits and Love Songs, but I’m starting to pick up a few. Looking forward to more cassette videos! 👍🏻
Hope to find more!!
Cassettes are cool but have none. I did fairly recent acquire an original vinyl copy of Both Sides but haven't given a spin yet. But have listened to the first ever cd release of Face Value, which I own, and it's wonderfully mixed though the highs could just be a little but toned down and the lows could be upped. Making a video about the differences of the (Face Value) mixes would be cool, lmk if you want the cd mix coming your way😅
Would love to find that one on original vinyl! Congrats!
