  • Image and Likeness - What It Means That God Created Man in His Own Image | Theology Academy
What does it mean when the scripture says, “God created man in his own image and likeness?” Understanding Biblical interpretations of God's likeness can help us develop a deeper understanding of human nature and our own likeness in relation to the Holy Spirit.
In English, Genesis 1 states, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness.” In this video, we discuss the Hebrew word tselem (image) and the Hebrew word demuth (likeness) and their subtle differences, as well as the different theological interpretations of what it means for human beings to be created in the image of God and the likeness of God. What does it mean that we are his image bearers?
From the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, human life has been a reflection of the glory of God - but how does this manifest within us? And can we tarnish or lose it? Why was it important that Jesus Christ come to Earth as a man when he was the son of God? Historical and Christian interpretations of New Testament and Old Testament bible passages can deepen our love of not only other human beings, but our love for ourselves as well.
Theology Academy explores these questions and more. We work to provide credible theological content that enhances our audiences understanding through scientific, academic, and historical explorations of the Bible. What's amazing is that God made men and women equally to His image and likeness

we are made in the image of god - we are finite self consciousnesses wheras god is the infinite self consciousness. this is why we can behold the universal through thought, like God, and is why we have language.

I say 'you' are Gods (those Gods that Yahweh directly speaks to in the council) can only refer to the other Gods (such as Yahweh himself) who are sons of the Most High (El Elyon).
"But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes." This phrase again can only refer to the Gods who are immortal.
Each God was responsible for their own allotment (given to them by El) of nation/territory this is why the divine council was called for to settle divine ruling matters. The Holy Trinity assuming that this was what John was referring to was absent in the Garden of Eden.

In John 10:34, Jesus said Ye ARE gods.
Genesis 1 is ELOHIM (Lucifer and the fallen angels).
      They made this realm.
They made man in their image. (tares)
Man is an idol, a trap to hunt angels.
Genesis 2:7 the Lord God forms His representative in their system. (wheat)
      One Gospel:
      Gospel (GOOD ANGEL) of Reconciliation.
Jesus Christ came into THEIR kingdom
to reconcile fallen angels unto Himself.
We are the fallen angels (ELOHIM) kept in DNA chains of darkness.
If you do not confess being a fallen angel in Lucifer's kingdom, then you are an unbeliever.
Unbeliever = those that claim to be made in the image of ELOHIM(gods).

It sure is. But he said, "The son of God became man so that we could become God." Basically the same thing. Blasphemy. His first mistake was his interpretation of Psalm 82:6. God was not speaking to men but to a ruling class of angels. Read the whole chapter and check the original Hebrew.

When God/YHVH created Adam, what did He "breathe" in him? His Spirit. So, Adam became a living soul. A soul is a body with God's Spirit which is what allows us to live, to think, learn, behave, love, have emotion etc.
So, YHVH imparts His Spirit in each of us, in all human beings and this is why we are called children of God, not that we are God or can claim to be God. This is the "image" spoken of in Genesis 1:26 and it's not about God's physical appearance since our Creator is not a physical being, esp not a man. However, because of our flesh, our human body that desires fleshly things, our spirit, which is actually our mind and heart, is defiled. So, now we have a heart and mind issue. This is why Messiah was "sent" as our example of how to "fix" this problem so that we can continue being children of God.
      ‭Jeremiah 17:9-10
[9] “The heart (and mind) is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? [10] I, YHVH, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man (His reward) according to his ways (be evil or good), According to the fruit of his doings (if evil = death, if good = salvation).
      ‭Ezekiel 18:4
[4] “Behold, all souls are Mine; The soul of the father As well as the soul of the son is Mine; The soul who sins shall die (2nd death, death of your spirit).
The problem is our human nature which teaches our mind and heart to be against God if we continue to let human nature rule over us. God gave His Commandments/Laws to help us combat our human nature, to not let it rule over us. Messiah became our example of someone who has overcome his human nature by obeying the Law of his God through YHVH's Spirit's desire instead of the desire of his flesh. Basically, Messiah sacrificed the "self" to have his mind and heart "renewed" or perfected in the knowledge of the Law of God. He lived his life denying his flesh. That was his sacrifice and why he was called The Passover Lamb. A Passover Lamb is a metaphor for a person whose heart and mind are in line with our Creators heart and mind or in otherwords what our Bible refers to as a Circumcised Heart.
      Colossians 3:10
And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator.
Like Father like children. A mirror image of each other like Messiah became a mirror image of YHVH and why he said, "I and the Father are One," or in unity of mind and heart. Messiah was not sinless but was perfected (Hebrews 5). He also said, "just as you are one in us." This "being one" with YHVH is not talking about the Trinity which is a false doctrine or Incarnation. Messiah did not say that he is God in the flesh which is blasphemy. Believing these false doctrines proves your still uncircumcised of heart. If you are not a mirror image of Yahusha who is our example and a mirror image of YHVH, then you are not YHVH's. Meaning you are a soul that has not overcome his human nature whose hearts and mind are defiled by your sinful flesh, in otherwords, uncircumcised of heart/mind.
      ‭Romans 8:9-11
[9] But you are not ruled by your sinful selves. You are ruled by the Spirit (of YHVH), if that Spirit of YHVH really lives in you (or if His Spirit rules over you, unless you are still ruled over by your human nature which is Satan). But whoever does not have the Spirit of Messiah (your spirit does not mirror his) does not belong to Messiah (not in Covenant, not in agreement, not in unity). [10] Your body (the sinful flesh) will always be dead because of sin (human nature). But if Messiah is in you (his spirit), then the Spirit gives you life, because Messiah made you right with YHVH (by following Messiah, your heart and mind will be renewed to like that of YHVH's). [11] God raised Yahusha from death. And if God’s Spirit lives in you, it will also give life to your bodies that die. Yes, YHVH is the one who raised Messiah from death (what's a mirror image of Him belongs to Him forever!), and He will raise you to life through His Spirit living in you.

This you must repent. Repentance means to have your mind and heart be corrected of this error in knowledge and understanding. Keep the Law of YHVH because that is the beginning of the knowledge of truth which keeps at bay your human nature (or Satan) from deceiving yourself and others.

This is a lie! The Bible doesn't say or use the word humankind. God never said that! God specifically said MAN! I have an 1600 edition of the KING JAMES VERSION OF THE BIBLE and it doesn't say HUMANKIND. These modern versions of the so called Bible are false teachings. In fact Adam and Eve were NEVER MARRIED. Because God NEVER used the word WIFE.
God said IT IS NOT GOOD FOR MAN TO BE ALONE. LET US MAKE FOR "HIM" A HELPER. Therefore God never performed a wedding ceremony between Adam and Eve.
When God created MAN he gave man HIS breath of life. Then HE said that man is a living soul. God NEVER said that about Eve. That's why I don't order Spare Ribs from a Chinese restaurant.
So whenever I get into an argument with my wife, I tell her ""you can leave anytime you want, BUT give me back MY rib." So in Divorce Court I tell the judge that I owe her absolutely nothing since she has MY SPARE RIB!
