  • Volvo Truck hood does not close? Could be the hood lock or hood latch is broken.
LOCK: The lock inside the assembly normally gets worn out and your hood will not hold the pressure. This usually causes your hood to "pop up" when your driving down the road and this can be very dangerous. We recommend also replacing the hood pin that attaches to this hood latch.
LATCH: This hood latch will latch onto the hood lock and secure the hood. This hood latch is recommended to be replaced when you have issues with your hood that keeps coming popped up or unlatches from the hood lock.
    Replacement parts: Lock: Right - 20565618 Left - 20490445. Latch: 20498998

    Great Video!
Can you make one on the proper way to adjust/Aim the Headlights on a 2011 Volvo. I'm having a heck of a time seeing at night. My Headlights point down and really limit my vision.

I just had both sides replaced. The portion on the hood and over the quarter fender. I tried raising the cup side on both sides do you push-up towards the inside. That didn’t work. Every bump the hood still pops open. I noticed that when he took the pin side off of the hood there is a long bolt back there. That must be the adjustment. Another video I saw you can loosen the four bolts while the hood is closed and allow that pin to settle into the cup for proper alignment. I would imagine then going to the other portion of the latch on the hood and adjusting that bolt so the pin extends further into the cup. That’s what I’m going to try next. It’s pretty annoying when you paid a lot of money for a dealership to replace parts and they don’t fit them properly. Right out of the gate Tom would Volvo in Indianapolis while having the truck for a whole week to replace a water pump couldn’t even get the hood to close properly. Not to mention that they gave me a extended ETA for the water pump. My company actually ended up finding a woman in town and had it sent to them. They claim they couldn’t find one anywhere in Indianapolis when we found them all over the place when we called. I don’t recommend going to Tom-wood Volvo Indy to even get oil replaced. They seem like a bunch of yahoos.

I have the same issue. I haven't replaced my latches yet but I have bungee straps as a backup to make sure the hood doesn't fly open
