- The RØDE NT1 Cardioid Condenser Microphone. In this video, I'm unboxing and exploring the Rode NT1 Microphone Kit and hoping to give you a better idea of why this microphone might be the best microphone for creatives and home studios ever (in my opinion)... This microphone is known to be the quietest microphone in the world! But does that say much? Watch the whole video to figure out.
► Get the RØDE NT1 KIT here: amzn.to/3bCU2zm
► Get the RØDE PSA1 here: amzn.to/2F7OOjl
Note: this mic is a Cardioid Condensor XLR microphone. This means that this mic does not connect with a USB cable, but works with an audio interface/soundcard. For this microphone, a 48V Phantom Power is required. The frequency ranges from 20Hz to 20kHz.
I'm also quickly showing the difference in sound between the three different RØDE microphones I use to record my voice. I'm comparing the Røde SmartLav+, the VideoMic Pro, and the NT1.
Other products I use with the microphone:
► Scarlett Focusrite 2i2: amzn.to/2RhADeI
► KRK Rokit 6: amzn.to/2y2mMBV
► Audio-Technica ATH-M50x: amzn.to/3c3kLEC
► Røde VideoMic Pro: amzn.to/2JPvUwo
► Røde SmartLav+: amzn.to/2xTNVqX

That's great to hear!
When I looked around for reviews for this microphone there weren't any. And now when I have this mic, the reviews are there when I don't need them anymore. But beside that, very nice review. Keep up the good work. :D
What made you look up reviews? Thank you! New video coming out really soon.
@@felixkruip A few years ago I wanted to buy this mic, (I have it now) and at this time there weren't any reviews out that were helpful. :)

Hey, good review and nice video. Just one remark, it's really hard to focus on the content with the background music. For me it feels like 2 people are talking through each other and I lose my focus.
But let that not distract you ;-) keep up the good work!
High quality review, mate! Amazing job!!
Thank you so much!
Great and convincing review man. I think you can use to voiceover or boadcasting media and content tutorials. All the best.

The only thing I would have liked better is the popshield shown in this video (mine was round).
High quality microphone that is affordable and high quality review!
I'm happy to hear that! The pop shield you got is part of a different NT1 Kit. Enjoy the mic!

Very Very NICE Video! Thanks!
Thank YOU for taking the time to comment!
Sold! thanks buddy
That’s great to hear! (if you want to support my work, use the link in the description) have fun with it!
This my go-to mic for longer Voice Over gigs. I do recommend ditching the provided Metal Pop-Filter though...it can actually accentuate T, F and S sounds. A Mesh Pop-Filter is both smaller and better at taming those frequencies.
Another fun tip...you can actually take apart and flip the internals of the shock mount so the mic can be used upside down. It's a quick hack to give yourself more space in an office or VO booth instead of having the entire mic, shock mount and boom arm in your way. Speaking directly into the mic diaphragm rather than into the body helps tame S sounds as well.
Great review!!
Thank you so much for commenting, I really enjoyed reading it!
I've noticed the metal pop making a weird 'S' indeed! Great catch. Do you recommend any mesh pop-filters? Also, tell me about your other favorite mics!
I will definitely be trying the shock mount flip! (edit: do you have a picture for me? I can't seem to figure it out..)
Cheers!
@@felixkruip The Sterling PF2 is the pop filter I've been using for a while now. They're pretty inexpensive and the mesh is very transparent frequency-wise.
The Rode NT-1, Sennheiser MK4 and the Sennheiser MKH416 are my workhorses. Believe it or not one of my clients requests the NT-1 over the MKH416 for their ads! They love the smoothness of the Rode.
To flip the shock mount you'll need to unscrew the little up/down adjustment screw on the rear of the shock mount all the way. Take it out completely...there is a small pin inside, pop that out too. Now you can access the entire housing. Pulling it apart can pinch your fingers a bit so be careful. Now you can separate the shock mount part from the piece that screws into your boom arm. Flip the shock mount over, reassemble it and BOOM! Now the mic is upside down and the body is out of your way.
I have my VO booth set up this way and it makes seeing scripts way easier. Even better, mics that aren't designed for that shock mount will still fit if they have a similar screw-in setup. I modded the stock shock mount ring for my Sennheiser MK4 so it is compatible with the Rode shock mount. I can switch mics in the booth in like 30 seconds without swapping shock mounts. ;)
Hope that helped.
great video what was the song playing in the background with the guy singing?
Good video, I wonder if the arm will hold the Townsend Lab L22
Great video! Im recieving this one tommorow and and when i opened the video i could immediatly hear you are dutch too haha, your channel looks great!
That's awesome!
Did the mic perform as you expected? Are you happy with it? :)
@@nikolajhansen15 yes its great, i love adam sandler
@@nikolajhansen15 i was bron in 1954
if you want a good and nice audio interface, i recommend SSL 2 or SSL2+, all of the inputs are behind the interface so cables are not shown in your desk, and it has really nice amps,
Great review💖💖💖
Thank you 🤗
THANKS for doing a video review on it. I ordered one just now :D, Great review! What's the song in the background @5:10?

Good Stuff!
This dude only got 9k subs? Wtf he deserves more
😁✌🏼
Please make a video on "how to connect Scarlett 2i2 to the receiver unit & how it works."
Great production
Thanks!
Hele goede review Felix, maar waar kan ik deze kit nog krijgen in dezelfde configuratie? Ik heb me gesubscribed op je channel👊👍😎
Bedankt. Tof dat je ge-subscribed bent! Ik heb even gekeken, maar het lijkt dat de kit in deze configuratie uitverkocht is in NL. Even wachten, of de alternatieve kit kopen.
Where can I buy the XLR cable? Amazing video!
Great review man! What do you usually tweak in post for your audio voice overs? Keep it up man!
Appreciate it! I mostly do compRession, EQ, and limiting. I can make a tutorial about it if you'd like that.
How to Creative awesome! And yeah absolutely! It sounds buttery smooth, I’d love to see your EQ workflow, I just got this mic and I’d love to master it as much as I can. You got my Sub 👌🏼
Haha awesome! I put it on my to-do list. Appreciate ya!
6:45 that headset hook under the desk is very neat
Nice job Fellow Creator👍
Subbed,Liked and hit the bell
Much appreciated fellow creator!
cool video mate rly
Appreciate it!
What music is used? Btw, great video!
When he switched to the NT1... I died
Can u Tell me how you edit your voice on this video ?
And how you mix that with music ?
Very clean and easy to listen
Excellent review. I bought this mic in the Complete Studio Kit (incl XLR cable) with the AI-1 interface for best results and ultra low noise. Got the PSA-1 separately too. Do you recommend Ableton Live over Adobe Audition? Keep up the good work.
Thank you! I do recommend Ableton live a lot, but audition is also great depending on what you are using it for.
@@felixkruip Thanks for your reply. Well it would be just for voiceover work as such, not midi or live. I got a free version of Ableton 10 Lite with the Rode studio kit.
@@anthonymagnier2331 Hi , I hope you are doing well , can you tell me how did things go for you , i got a good deal for a used one like you have with the AI-1 interface and Im looking to see if it's worth it , is the asmr filter good despite being from metal?
was thinking about getting the nt1 5th generation usb, but I was a bit hesitant about using it in a untreated room aka my bedroom. Some say it should only be used in a controlled setting bc it picks up way too much background noise along with sounding boxy. Have you sound treated your room since purchasing this mic? If not how do you deal with background noise? noise gate?
quality! a1
xlr cable should be male to female right when connecting the rode nt1 kit to scarlett 2i2?
Yea!
Really appreciated this review! Next time, consider using music without lyrics - it made it more difficult to hear your voice, which is a critical aspect of this video.
Thanks, hmm it did cross my mind. This was the first time I used a track with lyrics. I thought there was enough compression/sidechaining going on. Not enough it seems. Thanks for the tip.
That's nice mic
What's The best nt1 or nt1a ? Please reply me
I would say the Rode NT1 :)
Excellent man, how you made that elevation system for the desk?
Thanks, it's an automatic desk by IKEA. I recently made a video about it.
Is the NT1 with Focusrite solo an good option? I know solo isn't the best but I'm only recording vocals and already have a solo.
Your content's been super helpful man.
Yep, perfect mic/interface combo! You will love it. Thanks for the kind words
Good work, I found the background music a bit loud and disturbing. Probably you can check it out on your next videos :)
Yea, other people have mentioned it too.. Should be better in future videos
Hey bro, great video. Just wanted to ask what Headset you use? I’m not quite sure what headset will fit in the scarlet headset Jack so im just wondering what one ur using?
I’m using the Audio Technica ATH m50x. But every headphone works with with a jack to mini jack converter
@@felixkruip sweet. Thank u bro, keep making these awesome videos👍
Damn this was a solid review. Sold!
Could we have more details about the XLR cable please ?
Yo, what song was that in the background. I Love it but I can't find it. If you could tell me that would be great.
How did you manage to get the shock mount perfectly perpendicular when attaching to the psa1? I have the nt1 with the sm6 shock mount and I wanted the mic to face me the same way as yours in the video but I just can't get it to be perfectly align. It will always be slanted a bit.
I had that at first too. Try screwing up the metal ring below the mount as far up as you can. Then screw on the mount. It should now be able to tilt a bit farther.
A common bundle is the Rode NT1 coming with the AI1 Audio Interface. Do you know this interface well? Is it decent? Or did you choose your Scarlet interface because it's way better? :)
The AI1 is great! I wouldn't say Scarlett is way better... I already had the 2i2, so I did not need a new interface :).
Спасибо! Хороший обзор
Hi, the kit you have is a bit different than the one in the amazon link above. Is it possible to get a link to the same one you have? Yours has a premium shock mount. Tanks for the video, keep it going!
The kit that he's got is the older version, nothing really premium about that Rycote shock mount, in fact the one you see on Amazon is a lot better and more professional shock mount , and in the new kit you'll also get a nice 6m xlr cable and an adjustable pop filter.
The quality of this video is very high!
Good review although I found the background music track to be terribly distracting with the vocals.
Thanks, yea I made a mistake. Won't do it again! 😁
great review. just too much music & vocals in the background. got a bit too messy and confusing in several parts.
