      Jeremy watts first off there's no compound that you could 'drink' to make you immortal. if your were to some how make yourself immortal by using this jellyfish you would have to identify the gene that causes it to act this way and insert it into a humans DNA obviously the gene it self would have to be altered to allow it to work, but i doubt we would see this happen in our lifetimes, also immortality in humans would be detrimental to the earth. were not dying quick enough as it is

    "Hungry or stressed out?" That is a summary of a new hypotheses that suggests that the body is built on food in (the hungry part) or waste out (the stressed out part). Then you see that that evolved from anabolic and catabolic. This is built on the premise of the evolution of catabolic and anabolic processes to other separate deconstructive and constructive processes.
    Catabolic and anabolic processes evolve but they do not blend

    I've always taken issue with the name "immortal jellyfish" since this creature is not, under any circumstances, actually, or even technically, immortal. A polyp doesn't turn into a medusa. It buds medusae. The medusae that bud off of the polyp may be genetically identical to it but the medusae no more *are* the polyp than identical twins *are* eachother. Polyps make medusae that can turn back into polyps and make more medusae. Notice though, that the individual that turned back into a polyp never turns back into a medusa. Imagine this scenario. A polyp buds off a bunch of medusae. One of those medusae is placed under stress and forms a new polyp, which then buds more medusae. One of those medusae is immediately stressed out again and turns into a polyp, landing on the ground next to the polyp that originally budded it. So now you have two polyps right next to eachother. They can't both *be* the original polyp. Polyps don't become medusae. They give birth to them. So really, the immortal jellyfish, more accurately, should be referred to maybe as the "jellyfish with an immortal germ line." That's not as catchy, but it does do well to remind us that nothing living is actually immortal.

    Concentrated Cannabis Oil produced via the Naptha extraction method, which is very expensive, has been able to completely heal/cure topical/skin exposed cancers in about 5 direct applications to the spot over the course of a few days... while internal cancers such as cancers of the liver have shown to take up to 6 weeks - several months depending on the severity, and depending on how it is gotten into the body. The amount needed is very high for internal cancers.

    See vsauce video about "What would happens if the sun gone disappeared" The earth will frozen up, but the deep sea part near eart core will still have enough warmth to keep deep sea creatures such as hydra (which is also immortal) and ,I'm sure jellyfish too, survive.

    Being Cnidarians too, corals work in similar ways. Which would mean these jellyfish aren't the only animal that can regenerate it's entire body as you can cut a coral and it will regrow. In fact the cut piece of the coral can regrow to another piece. I would say asexual reproduction instead of immortality.

      +Fish Ed However, the individual cells don't change. Corals are colonies rather than an individual organism.

    • @CeridwenPax
      @CeridwenPax Před 8 lety

      +Fish Ed It doesn't count for corals because they are technically a colony of cells, not a single organism. They fit into the same class as algae and kelp. When you cut off a part of it, it just recolonizes.

    I personally experienced the flowering of glass jelly.
    It's was beautiful to look at. They where so fragile that by simply lifting one up carefully with my hand would make it turn to mush.
    The ocean was filled with it. Like millions of stars propelling themselves towards the surface sun. :)

  • @BurnRoddy
    @BurnRoddy Před 10 lety

    The other soultion is remaining still over time.
    Unfortunately for us, fertilized ascaris lumbricoides eggs can live for many years without food or water, meanwhile waterbears can survive 10 years without water or food. Even large animals like scorpions can come back to life after being frozen solid.
    The problem with most animals is no matter how dormant their body functions may seem, they still need oxygen to survive and oxygen warns out the cells.
