That Bess Armstrong look back is one of the most crushing scenes ever. Such an underrated movie with an amazing soundtrack.
Great comment. I never understood why this movie was so overlooked.
Absolutely great comment. I was thinking exactly the same!
So beyond true.
Such a great scene
It is. I've watched it 50 times at least over the years. Reminded me of my lost true love. We are back together after 28 years! The clip still makes me tear up.
Bess Armstrong’s cycling companion knows he is just her “rebound” beau. She belongs with Tom Hanks. It’s all over her face.
Great scene! Very powerful.
This is one of those great 80’s flicks that just never gets old ..👍🏻
agreed
I'm a movie buff-That 2:09 look back from Bess-the connection that she and Tom share is movie magic! I've viewed that scene God knows how may times in the last 45 years-true perfection!
Yeah man, sounds like you got a lot of time on your hands..Lol.
She looked at him like that in disappointment. He basically sold out.
I like Bess a lot. Beautiful actress
Where can anybody find that look after we are old and screwed up? I love this scene.
This movie is an absolute gem. This scene is absolutely tremendous . The looks ,given from everyone knowing that there is something between the two is so well acted.
Funny, growing up in Chicago & hitting the bar scene in my day. Now, I am "David" dining el fresco at a pretentious eatery in the Loop.
Stay with whoever looks at you like Bess Armstrong looks at Tom Hanks...
I love this song......it certainly makes this scene memorable.
My heart breaks every time I see this scene…just beautiful!
Mines too. I’m glad they came back together
One of the best scenes ever in the history of movies at the end!
Bess Armstrong: a NATURAL beauty!
One of my favorite movie scenes.
One of my all time favorite scenes in a movie. However, this absolutely brilliant song is not available anywhere.
It’s on the Nothing in Common vinyl LP. eBay has several for around $15.
I had the cassette of the whole soundtrack but it is lost in the past! Lol
I know. What the hell. This is a beautiful song ❤
this scene and music brings me to tears every time as it reminds me of what love looks like and that I knew I would never find but life goes on
That look at 2:09... Bess Armstrong is really gorgeous
Bess Armstrong will always be remembered in my generation as Patty Chase in the short-lived classic My So-Called Life.
Correct. The best show of the 90s.
I like her a lot. She’s beautiful.
Bess Armstrong is just so adorable here, the way she uses her eyes - reminds me of someone i once knew.
Chills. Great scene. Been in that exact situation. Relatable.
I love this movie. It's probably his most underrated movie.
this video should get more real comment!!
man.. how young tom hanks is and that girl.. the songs just fit!!! man i love 80's
I WANT THIS IN MY MUSIC ROTATION SO BAAAAAD!!!!!!
Just watched this classic I was so impressed great comedy drama flick ❤
One of my fav movies and senses heartfelt
The 80’s were the best. How can we get them back?!
Same summer as About Last Night. Loved that one. Hard to believe it's been 37 years.
Love these scenes. Love this song.
Of all the countless movies I have seen nothing can capture the chemistry of that moment in time between those two characters. It’s also the song that brings everyone back to a different time when we were all young and hoping to find true love.
and there it is , the look back
That awkward moment when you realize she's moved on with a facsimile of you @1:18
2:07 We never should have split up. I've never met anyone like you. Be with me. I miss you. I love you.
In the 80s it was cinema law that Carly Simon had to make at least one song for your film.
Tom Hanks is and always will be my favorite actor.
I love Bess Armstrong. She’s so beautiful 😍
❤❤❤ this . Feel like a kid again
What a pretty song
Not the typical comment here BUT... at 00:05 Beautiful Sela Ward is dressed in Satin / Spandex bodysuit/leotard/bodyshaper with Silky black Pantyhose ... Seeing this as a kid in the 1980's (and even now!) gets my heart beating very fast. I had to put it on the slowest speed. :) Thank you for sharing the clip.
Man no offense to anyone who loves this movie but Hanks became such a superstar a couple of years later it has been largely forgotten. I enjoyed it but haven't seen it since it came out.
Love these expressive looks.
The moment he puts her hair back. You know he's in love with her .
A young, 19 year old Mark Ruffalo on the background at 0:53.. woow!
Martin Szalma no way, can’t be, the age doesn’t add up. If you want to see young Mark Ruffalo, there’s a tape of him doing a scene in Stella Adlers class
He would have been 18 during filming so not sure if it's him. Other sources don't list this movie as one he appeared in although he would have been uncredited. Looks like him though.
2:09 Bess Armstrong is so pretty!!😍😍
Buena película
She helped kill Jaws 🦈
@ 2:09. There’s a lot going on in that look.
Big shoulder pad
fashion and times
Nice
Wow typical 80s background music. Yikes .
