It’s just not peak season from Amazon that’s why the loads are down you can’t solely depend on Amazon

Hey Todd! Thanks for another great video! Hope all is well w/ you and your family! Quick question....is it due to the new 5 hour assignment rule that you cannot string together 2-3 loads and make a good day of it with these local 53 loads? Or is it the way that amazon is scheduling the loads at the same time? Are you able to do much better with other brokers while staying local? Thanks again! Jason (Otay Mesa)

I appreciate it, thank you 🙏🏻
The way they are scheduling them is temporary and I see it as just a “phase”, things have been slow lately. They won’t be able to schedule them this way when things pick back up.
They recently created a policy change (future video coming on this FOR SURE) that says you can no longer use the excuse of a prior Amazon load being a reason to be late to a future Amazon load. Historically, on nights where I have worked, I would watch the load board for at least four hours, and built a decent schedule out of it (3-5 loads, cumulatively paying $1000-$1200). I would be super diligent about not overlapping start/end times. Example:
      #1 SAN5➡️DSD8➡️SAN3 20:00-1:30
      #2 SAN5➡️SAN3 2:00-3:00
      #3 SAN5➡️DSD4➡️SAN5 3:15-5:15
But say #1 goes over because of an Amazon created problem (I.e. no empties at DSD8), now I’m going to be late to #2 (and possibly#3) and now, those lates are gonna be on me. 🤬
Basically, they want you to book one, finish it completely, then book your next load. It’s kind of a miserable way to work because there’s always a chance you went out for just one load, which I don’t like. I suspect they are trying to lure people into blocks which I won’t do at their current rates for them.
Other brokers are becoming more attractive to me. A couple weeks ago I took a trailer required load for another broker up to Moreno Valley that was paying $1K because it was a 24 hour trailer drop. I had every intention of running Amazon loads up there while I waited for my trailer. I found a good power only load heading to Yuma from Ontario and on the way back found a a PO load going from Heber to San Bernardino (they were trying to run it as a load out trailer but since I was going straight through, they were willing to come up a little on the rate). When the trailer was done, I grabbed a water load back to SD (these are plentiful and always available (Live logistics, Convoy, Uber) and are usually around $450-$650, but are heavy (44Klbs). None of these loads involved Amazon.
All in all, it took almost 2 days of driving, had to do a reset, but grossed $3K. If I compare this to what Amazon is paying for a Solo2, I made almost $2K more than I could have made with Amazon.
I like Amazon, but I feel like their system is built on complacency. It’s very easy to not have to call/email on loads, onboard, invoice, but I’m also not willing to leave $2K on the table for these conveniences.

How accurate are the times? I notice under the box 26 routes it would say like 4.5 hours for 26 miles. Obviously time to get loaded at the warehouse. But then if your just dropping at a post office in a route sceduled for a box truck. Coulnt take more than 15 to 20 mins to roll racks or pallets off could it?
Basically asking is it possible to take that box 26 route that pays 230 and be done in 2 hous or so?

I believe they block out way too much time to prevent them from having to pay detention pay. I run 53’ equipment and am usually done in 50-60% of the time they claim it will take.
What I would caution anyone about is getting “comfortable” with loads finishing early and starting to book your next load close to or at the same time your current load ends. They came out with a policy change that will unfortunately punish you for doing this that goes into effect on 7/1/24. I have a video about it, will have it published soon.
To answer your question, yes, if you could get that load done in 2 hours and clear it from your work queue, you would be done with it and would not owe them any additional time.
