UCL Match Highlights | Celtic 2-1 Feyenoord | Celts end Group Stage with a Victory at Paradise!

- Brendan Rodgers’ side signed off their UEFA Champions League group-stage campaign with a 2-1 home win over Feyenoord.
The Hoops took the lead through a Luis Palma penalty, which was cancelled out with nine minutes remaining, but substitute Gustaf Lagerbielke headed home the winner in the 90th minute with his first goal for the club.
In a competitive first-half, it was the visitors who first threatened when Quinten Timber had a shot from the edge of the box which was deflected wide for a corner.
Celtic carved out their first real chance after 10 minute when the two Johnstons on the right flank, Mikey and Alistair, combined well to set up O’Riley, and when his cross was blocked, Alistair Johnston threaded a ball into the path of Callum McGregor. His shot was on target but was saved by the Feyenoord keeper.
Six minutes later, Liam Scales threaded a great ball through the visitors’ defence into the path of Kyogo, but he too was denied by Justin Bijlow in the Feyenoord goal.
A minute later Brendan Rodgers’ side suffered an injury blow when Tomoki Iwata was forced off through injury, to be replaced by Paulo Bernardo.
Feyenoord had the ball in the net on 21 minutes through the dangerous Santiago Gimenez, but it was ruled out for offside, and the same player threatened just before the half-hour mark, but he was denied by a good Joe Hart save.
Just a minute later, Feyenoord’s Ramiz Zerrouki was penalised for hauling Liam Scales to the ground inside the box, and Luis Palma stepped up to fire the ball home from the spot to give Celtic a 1-0 lead.
Feyenoord looked for a way back into the game and they had three quickfire efforts, all prevented by a combination of Joe Hart and the Celtic defence.
With three minutes of the half remaining, Feyenoord carved out an opening inside the box, but Lutsharel Geertruida’s effort came back off the post.
There was still time for one more chance for the Dutch side when a free-kick from the right-hand side of the box was pushed away by Hart to ensure the Hoops led at the break.
Within 40 seconds of the restart, Feyenoord threatened inside the Celtic area, but Geertruida couldn’t get a connection on the ball and Hart dealt with the danger.
Two minutes later, Celtic had a great chance to double their lead following good work down the right flank.
Mikey Johnston played a dangerous ball across the box for Luis Palma, who cut back on to his right foot and fired a shot to the near post which was saved by the keeper’s foot.
And from the resulting corner, Greg Taylor’s shot from the edge of the box was blocked before Callum McGregor’s effort found its way into the keeper’s arms.
With 10 minutes of the second half gone, Joe Hart was called into action to deny the visitors a they searched for an equaliser.
And on 58 minutes, a shot from Luka Ivanusec was deflected out for a corner.
Into the last 15 minutes and Feyenoord began to step up the pressure, and they were rewarded when substitute Yankuba Minteh slotted the ball home at the back post to make it 1-1.
Luis Palma was forced off, and he was replaced by teenager Mitchel Frame, with the Youth Academy graduate making his first-team debut. And he was immediately in the action, delivering a dangerous ball from the left flank that was deflected wide for a corner.
The Dutch side then came close to taking the lead with six minutes remaining through Ayase Ueda, but his header was comfortably saved by Hart.
And then Paradise erupted in the 90 minute when Gustaf Lagerbielke, on as a substitute for Stephen Welsh, headed home from a couple of yards out following a wonderful Matt O’Riley cross to the back post to make it 2-1 and ensure a night of celebration for the home side.
