  • This is one awesome fly pattern I got from TS Adventures. They gave me permission to use their pattern, and I couldn’t be happier. I expect this to catch lots of fish! This fly is also very durable, I fished it near some rocks and had it bouncing off them all day long. The fly stayed together very well. The way it swims is also quite natural, as it looks just like a squid. Short quick strips will give it the darting motion that squid do, then long strips also give just a regular swimming motion. This is one of my favorite flies for saltwater fish Ive seen in a long time.

    I really like articulated flies. Seems like they entice more strikes than conventionally tied streamer flies. This one really looks like a 🦑 squid! Well done Angler!

    Fantastic looking fly. Squid move backwards so articuling the head at the rear is the way to go.
    Seems like this technique would match long bodied bottom dwelling crustaceans like ghost shrimp and mantis shrimp

      Thank you sir, I’ve got another video coming out tomorrow on this same fly with some new ways of doing it. Check it out tomorrow

    Awesome fly. Dont have a need for it but still gonna give it a try. Maybe someday I'll fly fish salt water.

    Damn, that's a great looking fly, bet in other colors such as orange or pink that thing would be fantastic! Don't get me wrong white is also fantastic but I find adding some color wakes up fish to hit the bait quicker and harder for some reason.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  Před 3 lety

      For sure man, I think just using a pink or orange sharpie would be the best option here. Thank you

      @McFlyAngler  Před 5 lety

      Ha! Ohhh there are lots of things you could do with them! I love rubber legs, so useful in many types of flies.

    I saw one at the local fly shop and thought wow that looks great but it must be complicated to do, then I found this video and said I can do that ! Just need the articulated wire , may have to make my own if I can’t find them , great pattern, have you fished it yet ? 👍🏼

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! I actually have not. I moved just after making this video to an area that doesn’t have lots of shrimp

    what size wire would be a good replacement instead of the risen rib?

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly I made this video a long time ago, can’t remember it exactly…. But I’d guess a thicker wire like brassie or medium sized would work best.

      @@McFlyAngler one more question when i tie flies sometimes my hook get a little bit covered by materials what is a good way to clear out the hook eye?

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  Před 4 lety

      Well the best way is not to tie up onto the eye. If you get resin or glue in there then use a feather to pull through. If it’s materials, then there isn’t really many good ways

  • @bobmihaylov

    Thumbs up for the pattern. Could have taken that crooked hook 0:27 out of the pack prior to making the video though.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  Před 5 lety +1

      I didn’t see it till after I uploaded the video. Lol! Oops! So, that’s one hook out of like 20 packets with a mess up. Good odds!

    I would eat it. Maybe not the hook though...
