- We did it! Thanks to all you who helped point out issues and better ways to do it along the way, together we passed the Airworthiness Inspection! The MIDO DAR, Gary Brown finally made it back from his California and Arizona airplane birthing tour to look over the Backcountry Bogey. It wasn't without some pretty big finds, but overall I'm ecstatic. I'm fixed them right away and am ready for the maiden test flight. I just wrote my first test card and am only waiting on weather!

Yay! A childhood dream come true via determination and persistence! … and openness to learning!
After doing it 5 times, I can fully appreciate the joy you're feeling! Wait until the first time you fly, it's been known to make strong men cry!
Wow! 5 times?! Impressive! I might have one or two left in me… up to wifey tho
This episode is HEART warming to watch you Smiling from Ear to Ear! You built it and it actually passed the FAA inspectors check out ! CONGRATULATIONS !
Congrats on the build! It's one thing to strap on a McDonnell Douglas built bird and relying on them to keep it together, it's a whole different thing to strap on a plane that you are responsible for every nut and bolt! That's huge! I've been watching the entire build and almost as excited as you...well...pretty excited for you! On to the flight! I'm sure that will be as exciting as your first solo so many years ago! Maybe more...
Congratulations Steve!! What an accomplishment. Welcome to the club😎👍

So frickin’ happy for you!!! It’s been a real pleasure coming along for the journey these last few years. You’ve provided a real service to the community…and I’m even more excited to see that continue into flight testing. That will be some uniquely valuable content!
What an accomplishment! When my V35 is back together, I'd love to make the trip down to Bend to see your birds.
Fallowing you since the start. Cant wait for air adventures with the Backcountry Bogey. Keep it up sir.
Enjoyed your video.
One correction..... the Certificate portion (the part at the top of the first page) of the Certificate of Airworthiness is the document that needs to be on display and visible at the entrance to the aircraft (requirement is in the FAR's).
Not the registration card.
The registration is what just needs to be in the aircraft and made available to authorities if requested.
Not having the Cert. of Airworthiness visibly displayed is a fast track to a ramp check.
FAR 91.203(b) states "No person may operate a civil aircraft unless the airworthiness certificate required by paragraph (a) of this section or a special flight authorization issued under § 91.715 is displayed at the cabin or cockpit entrance so that it is legible to passengers or crew."
Thank you so much! I was scratching my head why I don’t have my Bonanza’s registration visible… see great nuggets like this keep me posting videos!
Yep, I was wondering if that was a slip of the tongue or I had it wrong all these years!
Big achievement, Airworthy! 👏 I've an infatuation for Tail Winds, but I'd probably hurt myself with one. But have always liked the S21s ever since Rans came out with them.
Congratulations! Awesome you shared all. Cant wait for first flight footage!!
Congrats Steve, been with you since your tenth rivet😄. My son now out of the Navy and First officer for an airline. Thanks again for your service and am happy for you in all your successes! Happy first flights, can't wait to hear about them/see them! all the best to you and your family - R
Great stuff, Steve. Super excited for you. I'm looking forward to that day!! Have fun with the test flying. Randy

Congratulations!! You deserve it, very beautiful plane.🛩️
Congrats! Now I need to check my motor mounts. Yikes.
We went thru 2x Kavlico oil pressure sensors. I bought a RIFE and it's lasted!
Secured our wiring to servo plate with adel clamp.
I'm thrilled for you. Groovy job on the Bogey.
Congratulations! Looking forward to the next chapters and the milestones alone the way.

Dude! Congratulations!!!!
Thank you!!!
Congrats. Going to be cool seeing you in the woods and at the track. You can set up a practice spot easily at Alvord.
PROUD OF YOU BUD!!!!
Thanks Kent! 2 flights in the logbook! She’s flying awesome
Congratulations on a job well done
Congrats.
Congrats! Question about your camera mounts…. Have you or other builders ever run usb power out to mount points on wings and tails?
USB-C is heavy, expensive, and lossy so I have 2 power supplies I have yet to mount. I run aircraft 18ga wire to them and the power supply converts to USB. www.prorigshop.com
Congrats, you've built a very nice airplane!
Congratulations on the build. Did you track all the hours?
Thank you! Nope
I have heard that there is a way to log and have inspected your build time so that it counts as hours towards A&P.
Nice! That would be great
Wow! A 1000 days. Seems less than a year.
Congrats! Pretty minor all things considered. Are you planning on getting your repairman's certificate for this plane?
I sure am. I haven’t seen what I have to do yet…any idea?
@@CLEAREDDIRECTNot really. Couple stories I've read you go through an FAA inspection (I imagine it's similar to the DAR examination) where they ask you questions about your plane to see if you're qualified to do your own annuals. I wouldn't imagine you'd have any issues since your plane is a "slow build" not a QB or builders assist. Cool plane, really thinking about kicking off my own S21 adventure. It checks all the right boxes for my mission.
Pretty sure I cut that back baffling… my bad 😉
WTF ! You sped up the part that ANY new home builder would want to know about.... the paperwork.
Outstanding
Congratulations!
Congrats!!!
Congrats!
