    I agree with your favourite and if buying a few at once then the price can be very reasonable around 20 USD each plus shipping. No point bothering with the other ones (apart from maybe the plastic travel ones) regardless of the value of the shoes they are just bad design. A nice set of matching cedar shoe trees should last an adult lifetime. Also worth getting a few taller boot trees with the same large/small part divided toe, rounded heel and matching metal knob.

    • @theaestheticminimalist
      @theaestheticminimalist  Před 4 lety +2

      If you ask me which one can actually cause damage, I'd say too big. You want just the right amount of tension. Worst case for a pair of small show trees is they won't provide enough support but can still remove odor and keep your shoes dry.

  • @brendan5235
    @brendan5235 Před 3 lety +1

    Great video! Have you noticed any damage resulting from the second set of shoe trees? I have a set of very similar shoe trees which I've been using on an old pair of CPs, and I've noticed over time that the heel tab of the shoe has severely weakened in the middle and is actually beginning to tear. Whether this is the result of the shoe trees being too narrow, or if it's just from years of wear and tear (literally), I don't know.

    • @theaestheticminimalist
      @theaestheticminimalist  Před 3 lety +1

      I haven't seen any damage caused by the second pair. Do you think you got the right size of the shoe trees? I think it might be a combination of reasons why you start to see damage to your CPs now - The heel part is too narrow with too much force can definitely cause towards your shoes.

    • @brendan5235
      @brendan5235 Před 3 lety

      @@theaestheticminimalist I purchased the shoe trees from a local shop and to my understanding, they were a one-size-fits-all. The pressure applied to the heel of the shoe is pretty strong - I kind of have to force it forward in order to remove it. I wasn't sure if this was to be expected because they're the only set of shoe trees I own. I'm pretty convinced years of wear has worn down the heel tab, and the shoe trees have only sped up the process. Needless to say I have definitely stopped using these shoe trees on my CPs and have now devoted them to my less expensive pairs.

    • @theaestheticminimalist
      @theaestheticminimalist  Před rokem +1

      Technically you don't need shoetrees for a brand new pair of shoes. Some brand put paper inserts to keep the shoes in shape during shipping. However, if you live somewhere humid, putting wood trees in even new shoes that you don't wear is not a bad idea.
