I don't really understand barrel racing, but part of me wants to learn it and understand. I don't really know what the score thing means, but I can guess the higher the number the better. I haven't ridden a horse in like 4 or 5 years, and this virus made me really want to get back into it. I want to learn to jump. I want to canter, because I was never comfortable with the speed, and when I really wanted to in the past, the horse would take a step or two and just stop. I also bounced around a lot, so I have a lot to learn, but I want to get back to it asap. I miss it...
The score is time and you want the fastest time
The "D" classification is all based on the fastest run. The fastest run is 1st place in the 1D. 2D is usually .5 seconds slower than the fastest time, so if you are .5 seconds slower than the fastest time, you are 1st Place in the 2D. 3D is 1 second slower than the fastest and 4D is 2 seconds slower.
That's why you can never really tell what a "good" time is, because it's different based on arena, conditions, and who you're running against.

I really hope you see this Fallon or C-money..... The native sharman would often communicate telepathically with horses...the modern scientists say horses have HUGE energy frequency fields (2-3 metres)...and that horses are one of the most sensitive to human energy... which we know is true with rider/horse connection....so....I watch Baby Flo... it's her launch that takes my breath away and gives me arythmias ...I swear to the boss upstairs that Baby Flo is "riding the energy wave" 🌊🌊🌊🌊 it's like she senses a whirlpool of energy inside the arena... and she literally launches herself and Fallon into it!!!!!! Then thunders out! just because you can and it could be helpful and stuff, you should do a video where you explain who every horse is, like full body pictures, head shots, bloodlines and other stuff because you have SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many horses and they all have nicknames and pet names (like boy-boy) and I cant keep them straight....I know for sure who Baby Flo AND Shortcake are AND THATS IT only cause Baby Flo has the spot on her head above her eye and shortcake is legit the only roan you have... other than that they all just kinda blend together. So a video explaining all the stuff and things about the horses would be muchley appreciated. :) :) :)

This reminds me of the one time me and my horse were not communicating well and we knocked all three barrels🤣 and I remember coming back through the alleyway and people were like all judgey of me and I remember laughing cause ,I left that arena wrecked , like the barrels were almost in the middle of the arenaBecause I hit them so hard

That’s life in the thunderdome. We have horrible drivers and too much oilfield traffic and people think just because they have a Ford Raptor they can drive fast on ice 😂 Said from a born and raised midlander. We had even more snow east of midland where I live in Greenwood! Crazy times.

and different technical question: do you prefer the smaller horses with smaller strides or the bigger horses with longer strides? in your opinion which makes for a better barrel racer and which ones do you find have an easier time getting around the pattern and which ones go faster and which ones do you find have better times?
Sandhills dates will never be changed because the stock show kids need and have to get their points and scholarships before major season. Therefore has to be January or February at latest mid March.
But then you’re on top of ft worth, Houston, San Antonio, Angelo and Austin. It’s at a perfect time tbh😂
