Kumihimo paracord dog leash- a bit fancy

- In this video I show you how to braid a Kumihimo dog leash out of paracord. I like how the leash turned out :). Most of the leash is relatively easy to make, the hard part is the fancy covering knot tied at the end. You can easily replace the knot using a Foot rope knot, Matthew Walker knot, a Diamond knot and many others.

If you always leave 3 strands at the bottom of the disk when you put it down, you always know which thread to move next. Great video.
When taking a break, I often bring a top right down first. This leaves 3 strands at the bottom and I know where to start back with a bottom left up to the top.
Such a great tutorial. I’d suggest to let people know about the Swedish fid as I am working this with a marlin spike which is a little challenging. Love this pattern so much 🌺
This was the easiest tutorial I've ever seen...especially considering it's not the easiest task! Thanks so much!
Kumihimo is my favorite way to make leashes. So many style options and they're very sturdy. If I can get the hang of making the handle cover, that would be perfect.
Hey!
Indeed, kumihimo is very useful for leashes! The decorative knot is the challenging part, but it is doable. You can also use a Footrope knot, Matthew Walker knot, Star knot or many others.
i totally LOVE how you show and tell all the way through the entire process. thank you!!
Your presentation in tutorials is phenomenal another great tutorial thanks for sharing and thanks for keeping it at a perfect pace for learning my opinion your one of the best out there in paracording tutorial that have come across thus far ⭐
Awesome tutorial! I just made one in black and red for my grandson’s pit bull. Thanks for making these videos.
My favourite Paracordist... Awesome tutorial.
This is intricate, this is ingenious, such a wonderfull presentation, guided step by step to the end.
Great job done here, and I love the results.
I did this in two colors and was so pleased with the outcome. Now doing it in 3 colors. 🌺
Thank you Mark, I started with a Matthew Walker Knot, looks amazing ;-) x
Thank you very much for your time and thoughtfulness. Excellently explained and executed. Best wishes from Rhode Island.
Explains things easily and very clearly.
Excellent tutorial! Very precise and slow enough. Thanks!
suggestion if you think that four strands coming through your snap hook looks a little sparse: i add two extra one foot pieces of cord looped onto the snap hook and use it as a core, weaving the first part of my braid around it, which gives me 6 cords over my snap hook.
when i make a collar with this braid on my kumihimo disk, i run the added core all the way through the center of the braid, just braiding around the core. for my big dog, the resulting thicker collar is more proportional and pleasing.
Thank you Great job demonstrating how to do this. It has inspired me to give it a go
Excellent video, very clear and informative and exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
Brilliant! I love how all the process is shown clearly, no speeding up on the essential bits and with easy to follow instructions! The best paracord tutorial channel ... ever!
i guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..?
I somehow lost my password. I love any help you can give me!
@James Allen instablaster =)
@Elon Patrick I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Elon Patrick It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you really help me out!
@James Allen no problem :)
Very clear and patient explanation - Thanks
Thank you for sharing. I found if you bundle up each strands, rubber band it and release cord as you need it as you braided they did not tangle up as bad.
Loved this! Plan on making mine this weekend! Thank you for such a detailed and close up instructional video!
Started mine last night and made it through about 2ft of leash. Quick question that I wasn't able to learn from the video - how much rope do you need at the end before starting the decorative knot? I'm guessing 2feet by the video, but would be nice to know the recommended minimum length needed before getting to that point.
Thx!
Amazing work and very detailed explanation!!!
Ya hice 2 correas para mis perros, me quedaron espectaculares, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos y la explicación está soberbia. Saludos desde México 🇲🇽.
I did this on my first try and it looks great! Thank you for such great instructions. I did find that as I worked through the process I was repeating the instructions to myself in your accident. Thank you again for such wonderful teaching!
This is absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely give it a try. I am left handed and my brain needs to work harder doing things the right handed way 😂 but this tutorial makes it look manageable, thank you!
Hello from Denmark.....
You are good at explaining how to do, you are good, I have learned a lot from you ..
Brilliant tutorial! Thank you.
Absolutely amazing!
Great instructional video, thank you 👍
Wow! Absolutely great video! Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
You are a very good teacher. Ty
Thank you very much for an excellent tutorial!
Exceptional video. Thanks heaps and thanks for being so clear.
Ууффф , во замутил , красавчик , хоть в английском не силен, но всё понятно показано. Молодчага !!! Не понятно только, сколько паракорда ушло... Подписываюсь однозначно!
Nice pattern. Much appreciated
This is beautiful! I was searching CZcams for a simple macrame pattern to use for a roller skate leash, but I couldn’t pass up this gorgeous decorative knot. Your instructions are so clear and helpful without a lot of extra chit chat. I love that! This dog leash is fancier than what I need for my skate leash, but I subscribed and will be looking through the rest of your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! 💜
What is a roller skate !each for? Lo!
@@kariann226 A skate leash is what I use to carry my skates with. It has a D ring on each end to make an adjustable loop that holds each skate securely. ✌🏼💜🛼
excelente , muy bien explicado y los subtitulos funcionaron de maravilla ....
Excelente trabajo. Un saludo desde Madrid.
What an amazing tutorial!! Thank you so much!
Excelente apresentação muito bem mostrado com detalhes, uma pena que não tem a tradução para entender melhor as explicações , mas mesmo assim parabéns 👏👏👏💥💥💥💥
Very good instructions, thank you for great video!
Very, very, very, very well presented thankyou very very, very much!
Yes I understood it all now I know 2 ways. I enjoyed
Well done! Thank you!
I wish we could share photos in a comment. Would love to share mine!! Thanks for the tutorial!! You're awesome Mark!!
Very good instructions, You always are very detailed, I enjoy watching and learning. Thank You Mark
nice turtorial!
MARK is very good at teaching us,takes time to show throughly….not 1000mph like some in other vids WELL DONE Mr MARK
I AM GOING TO CHECK ON THE DISK AND GET ONE
WHAT IS NAME OF THAT TOOL YOU USED TO GUIDE CORDS UNDER THE WEAVE I NEED TO GET ONE ALSO😀
I'd love to see how you would approach making a dog harness (not collar) to go with this great leash.
Well done.
How unexpected, i have been making dog leads with the kumihimo disk for several years now. I was actually shocked to see that someone else is not only doing it but there is even a video. I knew I should have made one myself but sadly I don’t know much about making videos.
Your work is nice but my design is a fair bit different. The way he installs his hardware at the start is harder than it has to be. Mine are made to where either end can be used to attach to the dog. One with a clip and the other end as a slip lead
Well done!
Excellent job, thanks for sharing
Excellent video on the possibilities of kumihimo. Having a little issue with the handle interweave, but otherwise fairly straightforward and easy to follow. Thanks again for sharing your skills.
The decorative knot takes a bit to get used to. You can always replace it with a Footrope knot, Matthew Walker knot, Star knot etc.
@@Paracordguild The decorative knot was manageable, it was the handle loop splice I had difficulty with. But I worked through it. Just have to be persistent. Thanks again. Donald
AMAZING. THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Wow, that was quite a journey. Realy interesting. I'm going to have to try that. Cheers!
Solid paracord work bro. Great video. Easy to understand and follow. I'm going to have to make this project, and I don't even have a dog! lol ... Liked and subscribed!
WELL DONE!!!
Nice I'll try even if it takes me one week. All the best
AMAZING!!! Thank you!
Does anyone know the exact length that each cord has to be before starting the decorative knot? I made my leash a bit longer and for some reason a few of the 8 strands are a bit longer that the other strands. I don’t want to start the knot and possibly not have enough cord to finish it.
Большая работа. Красиво получилось.
Well done presentation 👏👍👌😀
Hi Mark, absolutely fantastic stuff here, you really did a great job! I love watching your videos very much, thanks for doing what you do!
This looks like a good way to make some quality lead ropes for the horses. Gonna take some significant time to do, but quality nonetheless.
It's too advanced for me, but you are a legend bro!
Excellent video and extremely detailed so easy to follow. Would love a tutorial for a matching dog collar if possible. Thank you again for your time and expertise.
A very clear video. I just have one question: what size Swedish fid do you use? I want to get one but I'm not sure which one is the best to start with: 180mm, 280mm or 380mm?
Very well Done. 😀
very good worck sr thank u.
Very nice, thank you.
What is that tool called? Great tutorial and I’m so happy you shared this
Beautiful 🎉
Супер, нравится, классная работа!
Very nice jobs
Très bonne vidéo
God Bless you !!
Sure is beautiful
Before starting the decorative knot should all 8 strands be a certain length? If so what length should they be minimum?
My ends aren’t all the same length and before I started my knot I wanted to make sure that I had enough cord.
Awesome, any chance someone can tell me where I might find the big half-round fid tool?
A master @ work. Thank you.
if you "mentally" rotate the disk instead of actually physically rotating it, would there be less of a mess underneath?
Parabéns gostei muito
How long do you need the strands to do the decorative loop? I did not measure when I started. Thanks!
私もロウプが好きで色々調べ真似‼おしていますが難しく一様やつていますユウチユウブの実に美しい見事ですありがとう😍
Great video...One question is how would you finish off the loop if you didn't want the degrative knot
You have a few different options. You could use a footrope knot instead of the decorative knot. Or you could just work the ends of the cords deeper into the braid to secure the handle. Both ways work.
Amei demais❤
Sangat detail penjelasannya,,dan lengkap peralatan nya suka banget,,,seandainya 🐕🐕 saya masih hidup, saya buatkan tali leher untuk mereka 😭😊 sukses selalu 👍
You are the best realy i in joy it
Amazing ❤ I've just bought my first foal (paint/quarter) and he is also very skittish. We have held him twice to put on some sunblock on his muzzle but he absolutely freezes up and I couldn't go any near him afterwards. Yesterday I had had him for a week, and I decided to sit down and grab some grass for the mare, and he slowly approached me for some grass. He is now two weeks old. Do you think it is too late to try your method?
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes from Bella - Denmark 🇩🇰
If the paracord is taken out to soon how do you re-string it back into the Kumihimo disk where you left off
Can you use the square disc to make a dog lead for me. Many thanks.
neat tool where did you get it
Please help! I can't seem to figure out how to cover the initial tucks with the decorative part. Also, what is the name of the decorative part? Maybe if I see it separate from the leash something will click? It's a gift so I feel it must be perfect.
fANTASTIC !
Maybe I missed it but how much paracord do you need for the decorative knot when should you stop braiding your leash. You don’t really show that in the video. ?
I braided until I had the length I wanted from the top of the loop to the end of the hook. I used the measurement from the beginning to make a 6' leash and ended up with about 18" when fully done
is there a less fancy way of ending this 8 strand Kumihimo with a more simple and practical lanyard at the finish
How I can end the other side with another clip ?
Gostaria de saber como faço pra comprar esse material
