Thanks for your review.
I thought that the small powered head is designed for soft furnishings such as cushions on which a pet may have laid and shed hair.
It would also be good for vacuuming mattresses.
On the basis of your and other favourable reviews I have purchased this model, and should receive it today.
With the current discount code for £100 off it makes this vacuum cleaner a bargain for £149.

yes it most certainly is. it's intended mainly for upholstery mattresses & small areas of carpet like stairs

The small head is the power head and is the head designed for pet hair as its compact size it increases power(asked a gtech employee)

I did keep it , as we only have carpet we keep the power head on the long pole and always on high power too
