  • I did something highly unusual yesterday, I purchased a G-Shock purely for its collectibility value rather that because I envisage wearing it for a specific purpose. That watch is the G-Shock GA-2000BT (Bhutan Limited Edition).
    The G-Shock GA-2000BT-1A is a wonderfully ornate yet practical watch which caught my eye as either an investment piece of a present for a friend or family. The design is inspired from the Bhutan ‘Lungta’ Prayer Flag, a beautifully stitched pattern containing colours that represent the five elements of the earth; Blue = Water, White = Wind, Red = Fire, Green = Wood, Yellow = Earth. It’s genuinely very beautiful.
    This is a unique and ultra rare watch from the new and highly populate GA 2000 range with Carbon Core and mid-range functionality like World Time, Stopwatch and Timer. With the general popularity of the GA-200 range and the fact this is a limited edition watch, its fair to say this may be one of the most collectible G Shock watches of the moment. In this video I also show how easy it is to change between the two factory supplied straps with the specialist tool provided.
    I am a big fan of carbon core watches and recently uploaded a video of my MudMaster GG B100 on a hot run - it was so comfortable, see the video here: G-Shock MUDMASTER FIELD TEST: GG-B100 vs GWG 1000 HOT RUN • G-Shock MUDMASTER FIEL...

    This is a beautiful watch the colours work so well. I like the stitched band most. Thanx

      Thanks, yes I understand those looking for a fashion statement will prefer the stitched strap. For me I prioritise functionality so would use the resin one. Cheers...

    I don’t normally like ga2000, but this is an exception. I prefer this one to the gorillaz collab

      Yes I'm with you. It's not my favorite model generally but this is something special. I must say the GA 2000 is a very comfortable watch in general, like the GG-B100 with the carbon core signature back plate they just fit so well on the wrist whilst being incredibly light. Cheers

    Surprising they give you a tool for s springbar thats supposed to be tooless. I just use my thumb on these types of bars.

      Yeah it does make it super easy though. Less fiddly, but agreed not totally necessary.

    I can see that becoming more collectable... looks great... wonder how many are made? You will have to keep that safe for at least two years, so hopefully the battery lasts?
    Cheers for shearing my friend :))

    Where did you get that little tool to remove the band? Did the watch come with it?

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, it’s a very hand little tool which came with the watch. I’ve only seen it with this model and it works a dream.

      @@stormrider1119 I saw they come with the little tool which is good. I would want to put a rubber/silicone style dive band on this watch; do you know the band dimensions?

    I bought this watch too based on just the style. It ws quite a bit more than the other GA2000 varients, but I felt it was worth it. I don't wear it every day, but I do wear it somewhat regularly.

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety

      It's totally unique in the G-Shock line up. Like you I won't wear it a lot but it's cool, and most likely will become rather collectible over time. Thanks for dropping by the StormRider channel :)

      Nice Rickenbacker by the way. I used to play a 330. Beautiful guitar with a very special sound.

    I wish these had solar. I have allot of Gshocks, protreks and even an edifice. I really am starting to detest my Gshocks that have batteries with their miserly 2 years battery lives. Especially since the local jewlers where I live charge $50-$60 to change a gshock battery over 20 bucks on ANYTHING else.
    Yes I could do it myself but Id rather pay a jeweler to do it cause they take allot of care that no dust gets in the watch. Something I have issues with living on a prairie.

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety

      Tough solar is one of my favorite G-Shock functions, however with certain models like the GA-2100 I understand they need to balance price point etc. Hopefully one day all our favorite models will come out with tough solar and a compass for me :)

    Quick release spring bars are the devil; flimsy and unreliable, even if they are convenient. Surprised to see them on a G-Shock.

    • @stormrider1119
      @stormrider1119  Před 3 lety

      Interesting, have you seen them fail before? I've only ever had the GA-2100 before this with spring bars and no issues so far although admittedly I don't use that watch for any serious physical activity. Thanks for the insight...

    • @heminder
      @heminder Před 3 lety

      @@stormrider1119 I've always replaced mine with 1.5mm or 2mm spring bars (the biggest that will fit), so have never taken the chance of one failing. They typically use weak springs inside their tube to make taking them on/off easier. I personally don't trust them.
