- Arrived friday morning to film SP 4449 depart town. Family urged me to chase her awhile. Ya, all the way to Alma and back. Cross roads made it tough but it was great to see and fun to do. Biggest problem for cops and train fest staff, appears to be people getting too close to track. It's like they are not thinking about that this is a TRAIN that can squash you!

Great video. I wonder if the engineers worry about cars trying to beat them at a crossing. That would be a tragedy for all concerned.

Daniel Arnold Yes, it is an airhorn, originally intended for use in foggy weather, at night, or in areas that had a lot of blind crossings. The more focused, directional sound of the horn was found to be better at getting people’s attention.
Wow that is what that crossing (first shot) used to look like? I would've LOVED to film there then. Now that crossing is new gates with E-Bells
