But in Andres Breivik's case he wasn't sentenced to 10 to 21 years, he was sentenced to 10 to 21 years with additional preventive custody, meaning he can be imprisoned indefinitely after these 21 years, if he is still considered dangerous. So in essence he got life in prison.

Here in Europe, specifically again in Germany but also in West-Europe we have some smaller self-declared right-wing nationalist terrorist groups, "preparing" for the new "great war" against "population exchange", directed mostly against Muslims but also towards Jews. They are more or less comparable with the white Supremacists movements in the USA. The newcomers on the political stage, nationalistic political parties, are using the immigration card to play their game successfully too. These terrorists are actually feel encouraged to continue their "mission" by these parties. Most of them are also very hard anti-EU.
In the Eastern countries of the EU an increasingly nationalistic attitude and political slurring supported, encouraged and imposed by local national governments is on the rise as well.
While in the Baltics, Poland and to a lesser decree in the Scandinavian countries imposing nationalistic anti-Russian campaigns (against ethnic Russians, who live there) are the norm since the fall of the USSR, the Hungarian government under Orban is playing the anti-Jewish blame-game particular during pre-election periods.
The historically very old but in a certain way again new anti-Russian oppression (basically 2nd class citizens in these countries - restricted voting rights, no passports, unclear status of citizenship....) was one of the major driving forces to have Pr. Putin turning his back on the West after 10myears of trying to cooperate with us. Particular against the anti-Russian bias our EU-institutions did not do anything although it would be required by the statutes of the European Union. As long as it is directed against Russia (and now China) it is all OK it seems, an attitude reaching far back to the 2000s years.
In Poland the old PiS-party lost the election recently, but besides being anti-Russian they fuelled also quite anti-German ressentiments over years when they were in power, probably diverting the attention to self-caused or neglected domestic problems towards an outer opponent or enemy.
It is the same old game over and over again, hatred imposed by short-minded and uneducated people, often with easy access to guns.
We need courageous and educated politicians (also in the West) to put an end to all of this.
Extremists of any kind only want to stir up violence, they should be locked away and taken out of any democratic procedures.
