    The new battery is for shock protection. negative and positive on both ends....if you're mounting or holding weapon and firing there is no bounce and shutoff since there is a continuous connection....nitecore also does this with their tactical light batteries

    That rubber hump on the battery is done so that you can use the momentary on off feature. So that the battery positive terminal is not always connected to the main switch board, until you either push with a bit of force or hard click.

    The battery is designed for magnetic charging. My Seeker pro ll uses that battery, it's not bad if you have a few lights that use it and not bad really even if you don't! I personally dislike greatly USB charging ports being they DO wear out. a mag charger has nothing to go bad. The battery is cheap considering the quality and longevity you get out of the battery which is a quality battery. It would be good to have a spare if needed to swap out anyway in worse case scenario. Great vid! I'm ordering ANOTHER OLight..gotta have that new Warrior!

    The reason they use a proprietary battery is because the tail switch isn't used for ground. The driver is the positive and negative and the tail switch is used for just charging. Used as a switch it's only sensing the button press and sending signal to the driver in the head of the light.

    A tight hotspot means you have to sweep the light around more to be situationally aware of the same area as a broad hotspot. Meaning you have to swing your barrel around more. If you're covering two, three people, you have to give up the edge a little to keep them all in view. Depends on your use. I like a tight hotspot with some flood so you can zero in on a subject but also keep situationally aware of everything going on around you. A little sacrifice isn't much to ask for... to get a decent throw will some spill of a flood. You're not going to be making 1,000 meter ( which some new lights throw out to) shots at night anyway. I'd rather have decent throw and decent spill.

    • @Geoff

    I just bought the Olight Warrior X Pro, and I notice that if I take the tactical ring off entirely, which I prefer, then an o-ring is visible. I can see it in your video too.

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  Před 3 lety +1

      If it’s anything like the M2R Pro, the ring holds in the lens and reflector in. I bet if you tap it a few times, the assembly will pop out. If so, yes, leaving the ring off would affect its water resistance

      I’m sorry. I misread your first comment. I thought you were referring to the tactical bezel ring. You meant the hand stop ring. No. Removing that does not affect water resistance. In fact there should be another o-ring under the tail cap. That’s your water barrier.

  • @dtom420
    @dtom420 Před 4 lety +4

    So what are the REAL world run times for each beam strength? That battery deal is a hard hurdle to clear because anyone that really understands batteries knows that they’re ALL made by just a few makers and no matter what they try to claim about ‘proprietary’ or ‘designed by us,’ the reality is...these batteries are one of a limited number of models out there that’s been re-wrapped with their logo. It’s not a bash on Olight....it’s just how it’s done. Vape industry is the same way and uses the same batteries but with a much harder load. So, whatever their premium battery is, the exact same battery can be purchased at a much cheaper price. Likely, there’s even a BETTER battery out there for less. Their “proprietary” wrapping that prevents the use of less expensive and possibly better (longer lasting) batteries is a very unfair move. They count on the ignorance of the general consumer (like others who do this) and that makes people who who know the truth feel uncomfortable about supporting the product.

    • @killstrees
      @killstrees Před 4 lety

      Its not just "proprietary wrapping" on their batteries, but they also uses a different terminal layout so that their magnetic charging system works. Positive inside the negative on one end and negative on the other end. Nobody else does that. The cell itself is obviously a standard run of the mill cell like everybody else's, but with that extra circuitry on the battery it does make it proprietary. Most of their lights will allow you to use other batteries, but they also lose charging and turbo mode functions.

    The battery issue is simple. Olight's greed for money. It's absurd that they engineer newer models this way. So basically you are S.O.L if you ever needed to get buy with a non-Olight battery (even without turbo mode). Older models atleast accept "standard batteries" at the cost of turbo mode. Soon every Olight will be like this. They have been slowly shifting all newer models to this nonsense. Tyrone Walker this is capitalism at it’s finest! Companies churning out replacements for what was supposed to be the latest, greatest, “gotta have it” technology so you think what you have is obsolete or somehow sub-par and you buy the new one! Olight has mastered the art of “pyramid-schemish” marketing- and it’s working! Well, on me at least! Haha.
      Seriously though- they’re all good lights. Even their keychain lights have been good for me. My current favorite is the Warrior Pro. Not the Warrior X version. It’s bright enough to do anything you need and small enough to put in your pocket. Not that it’s the best option for that, but you CAN. Just to be clear- I love capitalism, as well as Olight! You can’t go wrong with either!

    If these are all highest setting it doesn't help much something that lasts for 1 millisecond on 10,000 lumen at 500 degrees then goes to 4hrs on 35lumen is a 35 lumen flashlight.
    So Javelot Pro is at best a not long lasting 1000lumen and really should be only considered a 600Lumen flashlight
    Run-time LEVEL 1 2100 lumens (~1000lm); 5 mins+145 mins
    LEVEL 2 (lumens) 600
    Run-time LEVEL 2 5hours.
    So the most important distance comparisons would be at 1000lumen and mostly 600lumen.

      @@konner3593 I understand the concept of grossly exaggerating the capability of a light in function to make sales.
      Think of it it more simple terms - your next car will be able to get unlimited MPG - its completely stationary.
      Orbthink of it like food you buy will not give you lethal doses of salmonella - as long as you completely eat and digest it within 10 seconds
      It's a ridiculous thing that has no bearing on functions people need.
      But.... But.... But I wanna pretend I'm a soldier and I may need 2100 lumen; yea but (hey yeah but.... What Costello?) what about the next seventy times you also need that before you see any electricity to recharge or any time to sit and wait for the charge..
      Do you want to be able to USE the light or just show off to someone how bright it can get?
      A light should be rated on its maximum setting if can sustain and then how long.
      Some of these olights 1000lumen for 4min then 250 then 150 OR they can do 600 for 2.5hrs straight.... Well son that is a 600 max lumen led that some person put a sudden burst if you just have to have it.

      Finally someone who understands flashlight. For others, Olight has a long history of over stating their max run time. This means in real world, you would only get their claimed output for a minute or two before they step down to as low as 40% of its maximum output.

      Depends on your use-case. When i hunt at night, i have used lights like the M2R and it just doesn't reach out far enough. The Warrior X excels in throwing distance. If you want a more well-rounded general purpose light, the M2R is definitely more versatile. What's your use-case?

      I love my Warrior Pro. I prefer the multiple settings that it offers over the limited number of settings on the Warrior X or X Pro. I also prefer the larger hotspot on the Warrior Pro. It’s a more useful light. I would NEVER upgrade from a Warrior X to X Pro. Nowhere near enough improvement over the old version.

      Maybe for a more simple tool to operate. No fumbling or trying to remember how to activate extra modes. Just press softly for low and press harder for full brightness. It’s good to have options. If someone needs a strobe in their flashlight, there are many other models to choose from that have that feature.
