    There is also another way to plumb the regulator on an EFI system. If you plumb the regulator post Fuel rail and plug the third hole, you can control the amount of fuel pressure in on the injectors. Then run return line back to the cell. Just make sure on a forced induction engine running high boost (20 - 30) hp, that vacuum lines run for fuel pressure increase as boost increases.

    with the tank you have in the video where does the return line go into? can you use the one of the outlets at the bottom for the return and one for the out, or do you have to make a new hole in the tank at the top? thanks

    ok. i have a 1996 f250 regular cab long bed with a 460. it has dual fuel tanks and ive always had problems. id like to take out both fuel tanks, and everything in between, to the engine, and replace with a large fuel cell or a single tank. options?

    Have a brand new non return fuel cell connected to an LS3. The venting gas fumes fill the garage when sitting. How do I over come this?

    On 600hp big block application using a carburetor and mechanical 110 gph pump what type of filter do you recommend? Should it be before or after the pump?

      Hi MrGnrnut,
      It really depends on what you want to look at. If you want to plumb and see an anodized filter under the hood we have plenty of choices. If you don’t want to see it and it just needs to function properly, then mount a Fram HPG1 canister style filter assembly back by the fuel tank.

    Ok so I got a sort of specific question. I currently have a 96 Cobra engine and transmission. I am putting into a 99 V6 Mustang. Aside from the other things I must change over, can I use the return-less style fuel system on the 99 on my 96 Cobra (with the return fuel style) with a 96 Cobra fuel pump?

      Providing you will also be using the matching computer, wiring harness and sensors for the Cobra motor this should not be a problem.

    I currently have a Holly HP 125 fuel pump and just received an 8 an install kit from you at summit, I am at about 500 Hp on motor and 125 extra on NOS, is it ok to use the 8 an from the tank all the way up to the regulator right before the carb and then down to 6 an or do i need 6 an all the way from the outlet side of the pump?

      For that power level 8an should be used all the way to the regulator & carb assuming it is a Holley. 6an can be used to your NOS solenoid.

    I want to renew my skyline r33 fuel line, i want to make 600hp engine on it. my question is which diameter of hose or tubing i'm going to use. should i use an6 or an8 hose for fuel delivery e.g fuel pump to pre filter to big filter and regulators inlet using an8 size and then an6 from regulator outlet to fuel rail. or all the way by using an6 size only

      Hi Md Armie Abd Rahman,
      Always use a large line from the tank to the inlet side of the pump. This minimizes the chances of cavitation or air bubbles being introduced into the fuel system. For this application, use an 8AN on the inlet and a 6AN on the pressure and return sides.

    can you tell me please which way is better for install the fuel regulator connections is after the fuel rails or before the fuel rails .. becomes the in fuel line is from one fuel rail and the out fuel line is from the sacand fuel rail

      Both ways you’ve mentioned work well. It really is the builders preference and may depend on how the overall plumbing will be routed on the vehicle.

    I have a late 90's ford 4.0 v6 efi and I would like to install an in tank fuel pump system. my tank will mot accept the factory pump. Do you offer an aftermarket in tank fuel pump that can be fitted into my stock tank. I do know the desired psi is 35-40. I can put on a regulator with a return line if needed. thanks. Jim

    I appreciate how much detail you put into making this video. I am installing my first complete fuel system in my 85 Chevy K10 and found this video very very helpful. Keep up the great work Summit Racing team! I just have one question, can I get away with just one pre pump filter or do I need two?

      Yes, a large body canister or cartridge type filter would be recommended. It provides a large surface area for the pump to draw through with little restriction.

    it always happens... just after you hit send, you think of something you forgot to add: I am not against paying for quality, because I know...the cost of quality is long forgotten as opposed to the problems of a cheaping out. That being said, the use for this car is going to be a "grocery getter". I don't want to break the bank, but I don't need street rod performance, I think you get me. Great video, watched twice and was easy to understand. please advise. thx Jim

    Hi!
    I have a toyota land cruiser 100 series 2001 with 1FZ-FE engine.
    Here are the applied modifications on my cruiser:
    Turbo charger with 7.5PSI boost. (350 WHP)
    550cc injectors
    Main fuel pump: AEM 340
    Sub fuel pump: AEROMOTIVE 340
    Aeromotive fuel regulator set on 40PSI
    (No change on fuel line and fuel filter from tanks to engine)
    AEM water methanol system
    During highway cruising in hot days (+30 C) after almost 100 kilometers, the fuel pump fails. By changing the tank, the engine starts and operates normally.
    This scenario happens on both pumps in same situations. The failed pump would operate normally after 10 to 20 minutes of rest.
    Previously on my previouse pumps (aeromotive 340) after facing few failures as explained, my pump failed to deliver 40psi on half voltage in low rpm. It could pump about 20 psi.
    (100 series have fuel circuit resistor which works on 6.5V or 11.5V based on necessary fuel flow)
    I jumped my fuel circuit resistor for a while to receive 40psi on damaged pump but after a while the pump died.
    (It's like the damaged pump, pumps 20psi on 6.5 but 40psi on 11.5)
    Now I have two pumps from different brands with same specs but they both act the same under pressure in hot days.
    I need your advise on the issue I am facing.

      Yes, sender is only for your fuel gauge, it doesn't move fuel.

      Plastic fuel cells are generally made from seamless polyethylene, which provides excellent chemical and impact resistance.

      Patrick Moore Umm. Only if you are fuel injected and have good computers.
      Intake injectors would be pree hard to accurately feed without a return for the excess fuel needed for pressure.

    That fuel cell is not for a return system. The secondary port in the sump is for a second fuel pump option. A return cell has a port on top for vent and a port on top for a return line.

      Thanks for saying that. I was about to use it as one!!! Maybe you can help me. I have a external pump with a stock tank and a welded in sump. Can I use the return port of the internal pump housing that I just got plugged off? Instead of drilling my tank and putting in a return bung? Thanks!!!!

      @@billmcclellan9743 man I do not know without seeing your set up. I do not want to tell you the wrong info with that. I run my Holley Black pump as a dead head set up and have never ran a return fuel system.

    What in the world, this is incorrect. On a return system the fuel regulator is AFTER the engine on the return line.
