I remember watching this over and over in 2002. I was 16 years old. Rewinding the video tape every day 20 times, trying to figure out how he did this, how he did that. Whats that song? Had goosebumps listening and watching this stuff. Plus one, Craze and Kentaro are the best 3 DJs on DMC. I recorded Mixery Raw Deluxe show every week from satellite to my VCR from channel VIVA Germany. Yeahhh. Good old times, no internet. No shazam and sh**. DMC channel one advice: Make a video with old winners, where they diconstruct they 6 minutes set, explaining what tunes they used and which technique they brought. In front of two turntables and a mixer. I mean it was like 20 years ago, they can explain it. It would be interesting. Very interesting.
@@andysanger4606 Agreed. Plus’ scratching in this took things up a notch. Sooooo fast. Then Kentaro came back (following year was it????) and did that AMAZING set that was almost musical in perfection and won it hands down. PlusOne tho.... He’s just incredible.
usually when they wanna do that they unscrew the old headshell and put in a new one with a needle that’s really messed up but i didn’t see him do that at all 😖
Im trying to remember if this was at Brixton academy. I went to a couple of dmc events there but back then you could smoke as much weed as you wanted in the venue so my memory is a little hazy 😊
"I will not lose", followed by "I'm still number one", and finally "I'm not conceited, they just couldn't beat it". Can you imagine if he actually lost?! :-p
Yer defo, Klevers set was unreal, his flow and general style was incredible. But having said that, Plus One finished pretty damn strong, and as someone else said his routine was considered 'next level'. Still for me, Klever was definitely the best that year.
plus one has incredible skill but on this night he is lucky that the judges were tone def because klever deserved it and should have one. better juggles and better scratching and cleaner what else is there?
What do you mean damage? Them needles are shure m447s they can take abuse like that and keep going unphased, you could abuse these needles and they would never break and last around 9 to 12 months before they wore down completely..... But they stopped making them this year :(
That style and many like it were what the scratch perverts were known for they would make tunes from various different things that didn't involve playing a record or scratching but still used the turntable or mixer so for example they would move the needle on the paper part to make a snare noise then on another turntable drum with the needle to make a kick sound then use a lead plugged into the mixer mic and using their finger on the end and use feedback to make a bassline, if you watch Alies DMC 2000 set they diss the fuck out of the perverts for doing it

You'll break your needle doing that son!
I can't believe how far these comps came in just 15 years, from '85 - '00ish.
I know right! It's weird seeing them still using headphones back in the day!
This has always been one of my top 5 favorite DMC routines of all time.
Absolutely! Are you from the UK by any chance?
Feedback routine was crazy. It was even crazier live, probably one of the most shocking things I've seen in DJaying.
i guess it's kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released movies online ?
Mad!!!...innovative and is set in history as a truly original set.....
Watching this masterpiece never gets old...
When he came up with that BDP Still Number One move he struck gold. Personally, I still prefer Kentaro's set tho from that year
Agree. He won that for technicality, unfortunately kentaros scratching let him down.

Kentaros set was ridiculous! One of my favourite sets!
plus1 stole the crown with that ninja strike. whereas in terns of technical ability kentaro owned it that year
@@Dexton0742 yep kentaro was next-level the following year
Watching him grind that needle over the record put my teeth on edge. Still one of the best
me too!!

Klever IMO was better and should of won - but, as someone else put it "This set was considered next level"
To me Kentaro had best thing going that year

Plus one is dope no doubt, and he brought originality to the battle that year, but in my opinion Klever should have won.

Fo sure💥💥💥💥💥
😍😍😍❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
I see this live and from 2.30 he smashes it
Arthritis in both hands in old age and a golden mixer nice dj abc uk ha ha ha yes plus no1 still
Fuckin crazyyyyyyyy
I heard that the airline lost one of his gold turntables from this winning routine 😢
What you have to do to beat Craze.
plus one has incredible skill but on this night he is lucky that the judges were tone def because klever deserved it and should have one. better juggles and better scratching and cleaner what else is there?
won
one* is better 😉
Look at how nice the flow is on Plus One's set. It's executed so much smoother than Klever. Klever is a beast but I don't think his set won.
Nah man. The still no.1 routine sealed it.
Du bon coté du n°1
They don’t make cocaine like they used to 😂
hahahaha...ouch...killer talent...ninja skillz
Jack beats party!
whats the record that begins at 0:33 plz? thanks!
Ed Rush - Skylab
@@fordon_greeman cheers!
Did I just see him do what I think he did?!!!! 😳. Them needles had nothing to do with the beef.. 😀
love Plus One. whats the sample at 1:48?
DJ Craze - Bully Breaks ;)
No need for the stylus damage sequence. Don't see the point in that.

Uh no... Kentaro was WAY better
A few very nice tricks, well executed, but lacking the musicality and flow of Kentarooooooooooo!
kentaro nailed it the following year
jr flo smashed him but he didn't even place?!
