Im getting a crestie in like 2 weeks and thought i knew nearly everything cause I’ve been doing research since September but this helped so much still! Never knew Ikea did “hydroballs” but their so much cheaper so glad i didn’t buy any for £14
Edit- Got the crestie 🥰
Wonderful! My pleasure! Congrats on your new crestie!
name him toaster strudels well maybe not that my creasted geckos name but it a fun one at frist it was gonna to be teostra but I said toaster and then I got the idea for toaster strudels
Joverlord Thats a Great name actually 🦎 Got him like 4 months ago his name is Bean ☺️
@@elsssaa8947 how's bean doing?
Erinn C-B He’s good, love chasing his crickets 🦗
I would love a list of the plants you used and or plants that would be safe to use with created geckos
RageQuitVideos if u look up crested mania safe plants it comes up.
G.O.B you are the best
@@the569 why are there plants that not safe for them? do they chew on the leaves?
@@jdandkikisExotics They don't tend to chew, but they jump. Some plants emanate toxic fumes (made worse by the fact it's an enclosed and warm space), some have toxic sap and the gecko jumping around damages the plant and lets sap leek out (dumbcane/Dieffenbachia/philodendrons/ficuses/aloes for instance).
Sorry to be off topic but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb lost my account password. I love any tricks you can offer me
To whoever else is following this tutorial I have one tip - DON'T wash your LECO/Hydroponic/Clay Balls in your sink. I think the clay dust will clog up your pipes leaving you guys with an expensive bill...Learned this from my plant groups online!
Yikes! Thanks for the warning! 😮
Ive had one for 6 years and just had a huge scare. My cat got into the enclosure while my dad was watching him on christmas (dad did nothing wrong). He was gone and I thought he died but 4 days later aboug 45 min ago I found the little butthead in my laundry. Im overjoyed and have always wanted to do this lind of upgrade. Life is fleeting and This scared the bejeezus outta me. Thanks for the vid! I think Im gonna go ahead and do it
I know this is an "older" video, but I just wanted to say how cool it was the way you talked to your geckos:) You could tell how much you cared for them and the was really neat to listen to.
ILLUM• LIFE thanks so much for the kind words ☺️. I def do this a lot haha
Honey is a good name. She looks like honey.
Honey honey do do do do oh honey honey do do do do
Recently started acquiring the things for my first crestie vivarium, so I was very excited to see you post this! Thanks so much for the awesome and informative video! 😊🖤
Just looking back through some of your older videos. The quality alone is even more impressive now. This particular video is so helpful and enjoyable 👏 you are gold dust!
I love that you showed how Pingu looked as a baby and how much she changed! It’s hard to find examples of that. Amazing!
This was so awesome! I was a little overwhelmed by all the info on starting a vivarium but this video made it look super simple!! Can't wait to start!
Mireille Painter wonderful! Glad it helped and good luck!
Thanks so much for such an in depth video! I've been meaning to make my crestie a bioactive setup
Tabitha thanks for watching and the kind words! I’m truly touched to receive such rest feedback and I’m excited that this may help you setup your beloved pets very own bioactive terrarium! I would suggest some T5 sun blaster or aquarium plant lights! They do wonders! Good luck!
I am highjacking this question..... do crested geckos need any special lighting? I have read they do and they don't. What do you think?
@@MrWeeleigh crested geckos don't actually need special lighting, but if you keep them with live plants that it could be better to get a light for the plants.
Random comment: hydroton is basically used by everyone in Scandinavian as a drainage layer when potting up outdoor plants, and widely manufactured locally many places. I'm not surprised to see them having it at IKEA. (Odla = to cultivate/grow [crops])
Thanks for sharing that’s super neat!
Beautiful thank you I am doing studies on vivariums hopefully to put my mate crested geckos in. This video was so much help!
5:00 me craving coco puffs
That’s the best creative setup I’ve ever seen
I’m building my bioactive tank right now for my first reptile/crestie. This has been helpful thx.
Thanks! I am doing lots of research as I can as I am getting my crestie next week on things from bone disease to the cleaning and flooring of their cage!
The little slap as she jumped onto the box 🥰🥰🥰
dude thank you so much for this, been looking to make a nice tank for my crestie and this is the only tutorial i could find that actually shows different options for products and how to properly prepare them and why things are necessary
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching/the kind words!
Omg Tysmmm I didn’t know what I wanted to name my crestie and pengu sounds so cute
I love the wire idea, I didnt even think of it, thanks for that.
Bob Kob I’m so glad! Thanks for watching!
I’m very new to having a crested gecko. This video was AMAZING!! Thank you SO SO much!!
You mentioned about cleaning the tank and decor. Do you have a video showing this in great detail? That would be extremely helpful!
Thank you very much!
Beautiful Crested Geckos!

Tes geckos sont superbes 😍 et la réalisation de tes terrarium est parfaite 👍
Encore une magnifique vidéo, merci ! 😎
Great advice about adding new plants to a vivarium. Well said!
Pengu is a GORGEOUS gecko!! I’m fixing to invest in a crestie with a natural bio setup. Crazy to see how much their morph can change over time!!
Thanks very much! ☺️ yea they change a lot!
Awesome video!! Thank you for making an in detail video on the setups 🙂
Thank you!
Great video. Patient and thorough. Well done.
I just found your channel and I looooooove your set ups!! Even your boxes to keep them in while you showing your beauties to us in the beginning!! Your video is also super helpful 😅🙌🏽
Thanks so much! Really happy you enjoyed the video! Please consider subscribing :)
Snap!
I set up two very similar enclosures for my loopy juvies and yep... one has nearly destroyed all the plants, and, I think all the isopods have been munched... Prob need to redo the enclosures or help out the suffering plants somewhat, somehow! I never thought to use the gardening wire for the vines, great tip! I kinda added to the vines by using vivarium safe silicone on natural/organic rope and twisted it around them before dunking in dry substrate, worked a treat and they are very, very random.
Thank you for this video, confirmed that I did it almost right! ;)
I'm gearing up to do my first bioactive here in a month or 2 thankyou for going into such detail step by step!
My pleasure! Best of luck!
Super helpful! Thanks so much for sharing!!
thanks so much for watching!
This is just the video I’ve been looking for! Gonna be picking up a crestie as soon as I have a similar setup!
Wonderful! How exciting! 🦎
Thanks so much for helping me I just got my crested gecko thank you
Thank you so much! I’m looking into making my crestie a bioactive vivarium and this video was the simplest one I’ve seen. All the other ones looks so complicated 😭😭

Dayyan, I really really like the style of this video. You're playful and I really like it. Great job!!
Thank you!
Simple and beautiful ❤
Thank you!
Wow pingu is stunning. She looks like white chocolate with some milk chocolate/caramel sauce (I may have just had an ice cream with caramel sauce earlier which influenced my description). She is gorgeous, wow!
Pingue is absolutely beautiful ❤️
Thanks dude I’m doing one this week
We love it big HEART.
I wanna do that for my Crested Gecko ^.^
Tarantula Kat dooooooo it ☺️👍🏼!
Great builds and appreciate the details. Your lily white crested gecko is beautiful and on my wishlist. If you can, would you mind naming your plants once again especially your second one.
Pingu is stunning!!! Going for the name Peanut.. can’t explain why it just popped into my head lol pingu and peanut lol I would of routed for Kelly but she doesn’t look like one haha xo
I loveeeee the Harlequin crestie
What absolute delights. I want to take one in someday I just dont have the means to support one so I shall enjoy yours (also yes I am binge watching your videos dont mind me)
Nice Terrarium !
this is best tutorial for terarium ive seen yet so far, lot of infos, i just wonder how are you feeding them? because i feed in way i put insects into terarium so the gecko have to hunt himself, and in this kind of setup makes it very difficult
Sweet set up bro! 🤘 what’s the name of that second plant you put in?
I love your geckos
Randomness Man thanks so much! Me too!
Thanks, I'm planning to upgrade my boys tank soon. He doesn't have any live plants at the moment so this was very helpful.
Awesome video
You have got beautifle geckos
Thank you!
Any hydroponic store will have those drainage balls as well! Great vid 😁
Yes! Thank you!
@@Reptiliatus do lavarocks work at well?
Very helpful! thanks
You're welcome!
Great video
Bob Kob thanks a million man! ☺️🙏🏼
Pingu is so stunning. Both your girls are but she’s stole my heart a bit 🤍
Great setups
Tarantula Channy thanks a million! ☺️🙏🏼
Your cresties are gorgeous
Thanks so much for creating this detailed and wholesome tutorial! What bulbs do you use for above their tanks? Do they stay on? If so how many hours?
Wonderful, wonderful! I want Pengu. Could you list the plants you used?
Why… why haven’t I thought of that wire trick?? It’s PERFECT
pingoo is soooo cute!!!!
She sure is! Thanks!
I love that wire idea. And your geckos are beautiful!
Thanks a million! ☺️🙏🏼
Great video, I used the wire method for the vines in a Exo Terra 12” x 12” x 18” vivarium for my Eurydactylode Agricolae male “ Juno” , Great Tip!
Ice cream is a great name for the gecko
That first gecko us so pretty with the white horns
Thank you! She is a lily white crested gecko!
Pingu is one of the nicest lily whites out there geez
Thank you!
I’m buying my first crested gecko soon
Wonderful! Congrats!
Reptiliatus I just bought a harleyquin quad pinstripe crested gecko
@@HllShockvv how's it doing?
Erinn C-B Is your message about my Crested Gecko?
I finally got everything I need to make the switch to BIOACTIVE for my crestie! Question though, do they not try to hunt and eat the isopods? Mine will try to eat anything that seems to be moving.
What lighting do you use? Thank you for this video!!!
I'm not sure if you have one yet....but I'd love to see you post a video on housing and care for baby crested geckos. I like how detailed and well informed you are. I want to provide the best for my baby. Thank you so much, I love your channel!!
I don’t have a specific video per day but this one nicely outlines how I set up babies! ☺️👍🏼 czcams.com/video/p7BTorC-eAo/video.html
@@Reptiliatus thank you so so much!!
What kinda lights did you use ?
Any special lights for the plants ?
amazing video btw !!
Can I ask you some care questions? How often do you disinfect the glass and decor? What do you use when you do?
Wow, I never thought about washing off my plants.
Definitely an important step!
I absolutely love your beard. You wear it well😘
Sandra or Sandy because she's a Sandy color 😏
Chairman Meow thanks for sharing suggestions!
Great setups, could you list the plants you used please?
Thank you for this helpful and informative video. I am doing lots of research for my first gecko. Can you use plastic or any kind of fake plants?
Pengu is very pretty. Goals ✌🏻
Scorpion Addiction thank you so much!
When I rinsed my clay I got one of my big car wash buckets and just dumped it all in there and gave it a good swish, dumped the water, did it again. Not sure if this is any more time efficient though. You wouldn't believe the gunk that settled on the bottom though. The entire bottom was covered in little grains and sludge
Tank you for the tutorial! I want to change my geckos enclosure to live plants with soil and isopods and spring tails to help with the clean up. What type of plants can you put in the enclosure? My room doesn't get a lot of light so I would want to pick sturdy low light plant, but I don't want to put something harmful for my gecko.
You should get a grow light with different brightness settings, they’re pretty cheap
Pothos are pretty good
Awesome vid! One question, what type of lightning do you use for these enclosures you have?
Gatør i use t5 reptisun 5.0 bulbs as well as sun blaster t5’s for plant growth! Thank you for watching!
In the tank on the right what is the plant called in the back right corner. I think it looks stunning and I might have to use it.
Was expecting an AD at 10 min but the yogurt break was a nice surprise
Haha
What plants did you use? I know there are lists of safe ones but I like your choices.
I know this isn't the answer you were looking for but check Josh's frogs out. You can select plants for pets>crested gecko and he has a huge I mean HUGE selection of plants. Maybe you'll see one or a few of the ones he used. I'll be ordering some from them within the next few days because I'm building my first crested setup, yay!
A lot of their stuff is sold out right now, not just plants but across the board. I think most shops are having some issues with suppliers atm. Anywho. Hope this helps.
@@pewpewcat7679 oh yeah...I took care of the setbup already thanks though. I just liked his choice...
@@saraf5320 yeah I figured my answer would be of no use to you, just thought maybe someone else would find it helpful 😊
Man I wish we could just post pics in the comment section, I'd love to see your setup! I'm building 2 right now from absolute scratch, as in building the actual tanks out of glass I salvaged from a 55 gallon (absolutely NO fun to take apart and cut, it was my first and last time doing that, what a royal pain in the ass). I'm starting the background on the first enclosure today. Love building bioactive setups, so much more fun than slapping some plastic/resin stuff in a tank and calling it good.
hey what lights do you use for your crested geckos? and where is the best place to find lights? I would love the help thank you :)
I was wondering: are there any plants I should avoid using when making a terrarium for my crestie?
beautiful... and only question is...when you gonna make a music video of you singing with your babies?
CastRepts lol not sure about that!? Thanks for watching
Im thinking of getting a crestie but I’m trying to do a lot of research before jumping in. A vivarium set up seems like a really good idea. Why do you still have to pick out the feces? I’ve seen some other youtubers say you have to wait for the plants and insects to settle in the enclosure for a few weeks before introducing the geckos- do you feel like it’s a necessary step? What happens when you want to switch to a bigger cage- do you reuse all of the hydroballs and substrate when you switch to a new cage? Also what do you use to clean the glass/disinfect cage decor? Sorry lots of questions!
Ugh these are literally all the same questions I have lol
Sandy and snow
what were the plants that you used? I am turning my cresties enclosure bioactive and your plants were awesome!!!
Dracaena "Janet craig" :). Thanks for watching!
Is there another janitor bug that you can use instead of springtails? My only fear is that the springtails might get out of the tank as I've had non reptile related springtail infestation issues before
Hello! I am new to your channel but I am so happy I came across it
I am also having a hard time finding "organic black earth" :( any suggestions for leads?
im soon gonna get a crestie, I m gonna call her Lou
cant wait
Hi there! IMPORTANT QUESTION: I have a cresty in a bioactive 10 Gallon Tank but it’s not tall enough for him to climb at all. My big question that I want to know is would you recommend me changing all of the current media (coco husk and moss) to brand new media and buying all new mold eating bugs and such.. and the drainage balls for the bottom of the tank too. OR am I able to keep the current stuff and plants and just place them into the new tank??? I will probly forsure replace the drainage balls but the coco husk and moss is what I’m wondering. I’ve had them in there for a year now.
What lighting would you suggest for a bio active tank for a crested and a crocodile gecko?
