An updated version with hot swap keys and OLED screens IMO would be very interesting.
@@slasherFTK They did for their huntsman. but you can only swap their switches…So it’s pointless but it’s a start
Ok, Razer or Elgato or someone else needs to do this today.
I'm actually rather baffled many OEM's don't make this anymore. Well there is one Everest keyboard that does similar thing but without that toushcreen Trackpad.
I wish more will make similar with this one but mechanical and more modern and slimmer profile.
Though sadly I find the trend with modern mechanical keyboards not having any dedicated macro keys, only few and only for full size keyboards.
@@kornkernel2232 Maybe they will do it when they stop messing with switches, right now everyone in their mother are making optical mechanical switches for their keyboards.
@@jaybird0312 Tell that to the mainstream manufactures. Like my ideal keyboard will be one where every setting the keyboard has can be done via the FN key(Looking at you Razer, Logitech and especially HyperX), and be hotswap-able. The only mainstream one that I found with this criteria was Redragon 556 that's about 60$ -70$.
I still have my Deathstalker. I actually really liked typing on it.
I still have mine and still using it to this day. I got the Star Wars one when it came out to play SWTOR.
I think I am in the minority when I say I don't really like mechanical keyboards.
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. If Corsair released a new version of this, I feel like it would sell very well. This keyboard was way ahead of it's time that's for sure
Yeah I think so too. What's funny is that the membrane keys are actually the biggest selling point for me lol. Much prefer scissor switch over mechanical (and no I'm not broke, I've had multiple mechs).
I'd love to see a new take on this, but with a 60/65% format, and actual switches lol
Low profile switches are the best of both worlds.
Maybe they can raise the area around the keys so they are level with the screen
I don’t think it would work with a smaller profile. The whole point it it takes up the space of the numpad. Like someone said the Everest would be the best bet having the detachable parts
@@Jesper588 The media bar on the Everest Max doesn't come close to the level of utility that this Razer keyboard does.
I remember the Razer Blade 17 having this and I loved it.
legit surprised corsair havent brought something like this to market, especially with the little lcd screen thats attachable to the keyboard
Still rocking this keyboard. A lot of the apps are broken but I assigned macros and custom icons for some of my most used short cuts. Also the wallpaper can be set as a gif if want something animated. The PC resource monitor still works and is pretty cool.
I like this kind of video, we won't even know it existed, it's really cool to see these old, weird, unique techs. Thank you Frank
I saved all my pocket money and paper round money when I was younger to buy that keyboard shortly after it release and it is still going today with no issues, the wrist rest still has a lot of its grip to this day and I still enjoy using it along side my original tarterus key pad
13:58 didnt know we missed the year 202012 🤣🤣 love ya content!!
I remember this used to be my dream keyboard, I remember mistaking this Razer deathstalker Ultimate keyboard for the normal deathstalker lol almost bought the normal deathstalker one day
I used to want this when it first came out and I still kinda do but a new version with mechanical switches and a modern display would be really cool to see
I remember wanting to own this when it first came out. I have always been a fan of the Deathstalker keyboards. I appreciate this video, Frank. Thank you!
man that keyboard is sooo nostalgic, it was my dream keyboard in 2014 and i could only afford the deathstalker essential (which i used for almost 3 years and loved it), if it comes back refreshed i would consider buying one again
I've been using the deathstalker essential till today and even though it cannot compare to the modern mechanical keyboards, it still gets the job done and I prefer typing on low profile keys. Good job man......finding this keyboard....nostalgic.
I actually used a regular deathstalker for my first keyboard for about 6 years. Got to high ranks with it on every fps game i played, its not as bad as you’d think especially if you aren’t used to a more modern keyboard. Always will have fond memories of it
Man, I remember seeing this when it came out, a lot of people were hyped about it. But when they review it, they realized it's not that great and like you said, for 250$ you could get a nice mechanical keyboard.
Awesome video, it is kinda wild how we’ve moved from mainly wanting slim keys to the chunky ones again.
I remember this being my dream keyboard back then (they even had it in one of the Razer Blade variants). Even my college ex girlfriend promised me to buy one of this as a bday gift (she already had the non-ultimate variant and we were gaming with it). We broke up months prior to my bday and I never got this as I tried to avoid the memories I got with her. Lmao the bitterness
dont beat yourself up over her. you should of got the keyboard it looks pretty nice
@@Nurse_Xochitl that was a long time ago (while this is just a trip down memory lane) and I’ve already moved on. Thanks bro. Oh and my huntsman TKL is awesome so there’s that 😂
ComeOn..Razer we need a 2022 edition of deathstalker 😁
Very happy to see that review! I remember when it launched back then.
What is the green keyboard and wrist rest you are using they looks amazing ??
I remember FaZe Rain had this and I was thinking it looked awesome but I could never find out anything about it or how to identify it. This is really cool to see!
i'd love to see an updated version of this. I also love those low profile razer keys from back in starcraft: brood war days
edit: i feel like height of the keyboard with wrist rest they could replace rubber dome with low profile mechanical. Would be great to see.
Where do you get your moving liquid wallpapers!?! I love that look! Thanks!
I've been wanting one thank you for the video
was my dream kb back in the day. ended up finally buyin one and i just remember it being more tedious than i expected. i had a regular deathstalker without the tacky wrist grip stuff, so i never ended up using the new one much. v cool concept tho and i seem to remember razer was doing such cool stuff, i remember yearning for their laptops as well.. maybe it was just the rgb lol
I remember at the time thinking this would become the standard, like all keyboards would start shipping with individual screens on all of the keys too. Still a cool idea and surprising you don't see more keyboards like this, if they work out the kinks.
could you desolder and put in proper switches with the board currently?
I had the normal version of the deathstalker, it was my first "gaming" keyboard too... its really been that long
for cleaning did u try compressed air?
I like this keyboard. Question I use samsung dex and want to stream can this keyboard work with it?
I had the Star Wars The Old Republic version of this and the Naga. Still to this day they were my favorite peripherals Razer has ever released.
What software do you use with this keyboard...I have the razer chroma but it doesn't detect it
Hey I love your videos so much thanks for making videos so enjoyable
I love the idea of an elgato on my keyboard. However, having the extra space from a TKL board is irreplacable imo. How about a TKL with a long thin rectangular oled screen across the top to keep the small forn factor?
an updated version of this would be so goood. this 10 years ago is amazing
I have one of these but as the Star Wars TOR version - the keys are fully programmable with XML and recording macros along with custom icons
Seeing this keyboard again brings up some long lost memories, in a good and bad way. Days when 13-14 year old me can barely even afford a Razer Deathadder. Definitely nice to see this keyboard being talked about again, how times have passed.
I remember when they did the Star Wars the old republic version of this keyboard. You could set the lcd keys to hotkeys for game abilities and the keys all had the star wars alphabet featured on them and would type in it.
is the RGB on the highest lighting? my black widow ultimate 2013 is more clearer and brighter with its green only lighting.
Just the oled and the lcd keys on their own would be great to have . Wonder if something like that can be hacked together
To be completely honest, I really don't see the point in putting a screen on your keyboard. Nobody is really going to be looking directly down at their keyboard all the time to use it. The stream deck works because you can place it an a good angle to just glance over at it instead of straining your neck
Cool! I'm still using my razer SWTOR keyboard up to this date!
I love this keyboard, had the chroma edition for about 5 years I just switched to a Huntsman TE this very year
gotta know what knife that was at the beginning. Sick vid
Oh wow! I've never heard of this. Thanks for the awesome video once again
I've been thinkin of trying to do this as a DIY project since the Deathstalker Ultimate, hoping your video creates a newer version with 2022 updated preferences.
So there's one for $65 someone has for sale near me. Are they rare or would it be worth buying? It's not unopened but the box is in good shape same with the board itself.
Ended up having this keyboard for years. Definitely ahead of its time. For years ive been hoping they would revive this keyboard with options for mechanical or the original membrane. It wasnt great for gaming. More of an okay. I liked it for typing and personally like quiet boards so it was nice for a time, but wish it had a mechanical keys. The touchscreen was awesome. Still a great concept. But i noticed over the year it became very slow to respond if responding at all. Tried to keep it updated but eventually it just became less usable. It mentioned it in the video but god cleaning it was rough. Used windex and cloth to clean best i could. Unfortunately the clear buttons would also get stuff under them easily and would also break with lots of use. Loved the low profile look and loved that keyboard. Really hope they would one day bring this back id go back in a heart beat with a more updated version
The closest thing to this is the keyboard that I am using right now, the Mountain Everest Max. It isn't as insane as this Razer but it is still really cool.
have you opened it up to see what switches could fit in it. really think it could a bit of a weird but great gaming Keyboard
I bought one of these for very very cheap recently, it still works but all the standalone apps arent really supported, but the configurable tile icons are still supported. I would love a new released version. I also loved the fact it was a short travel keyboard, as i came from a macbook before coming back to a PC.
Could it be possible the wrist rest became tacky over time? Like it was perfect the day it was released, but age does a thing especially on rubber type grips on flight sticks so it could be the same thing.
I actually remember this keyboard and wanted a mechanical switch version. I had totally forgot about it till today
Ah yes I remember this, back when I was 12 this was an absolute wet dream, and i still remember the razor blade pro had this built in back then, would love to see this make a comeback with a mechanical keyboard because i would definitely get one.
I want to buy this, sadly can’t find any listing so don’t even know how much they’re going around for
Remindes me of the Mad Catz Strike 7 tbh. Had its own display attached to the keyboard.
Oh man, I remember when this was my dream keyboard I could not afford! Take a look at the Mad Catz Strike 7, that thing was amazing (and bad at the same time)! Thx for the memories frank!
I'm actually using this exact keyboard right now and have been for 10 years, Every key still works perfectly, The touch screen stopped receiving firmware update about 6 years ago so you can no longer watch videos on the screen but it still works as a tracpad or with one of the many built in apps.
I’ve been waiting for a replacement of this keyboard for so long, I love chicklet keys and no gaming keyboards are made like this anymore, I’m still using the cheaper version of this keyboard to this day and loving it
do you have a link to buy it???
That's literally so cool, like a phone in a keyboard
I have had this idea for months would be amazing
Can you review the FICHIP K2 mechanical keyboard with the 12" touchscreen?
I remember them putting that in a lot of products. I thought they were so cool. The laptops were the best ones
RandomFrankP i thank you always for those lovely videos and the best content you recommend, all support from Dubai.
Didn't corsair k95 platinum have elgato software?
My wife bought me the original deathstalker keyboard around the time it was released. It's an amazing keyboard that I used for years and still do from time to time as a backup, still runs super smooth.
When is the studio tour coming out?
Always wanted one combined with the Ouroboros and Nostromo.
I wish somebody will make a low profile mechanical version of this, even for TKL version. Maybe replace the left side macro keys with display keys and just have detachable magnetic numpad.
They could do something like this and make the oled buttons in an alignment of the number pad. This way you could use them as a number pad and also switch to custom programmable buttons for streaming and other things.
What knife do you use that looks fire 🔥
My soul got drained out of me when I heard the keyboard typing. I never knew how much satisfaction I get out of hearing the deep sound of a spacebar getting pressed until I heard this one's spacebar.
one of my friends actually gave me a deathstalker chroma recently. doesn't have the stream deck of course but its a nice keyboard
I really like these videos to see how far we have come!!!
Corsair needs to make a new version now with the ability to use the elgato software. They could even just make the keyboard taller instead of longer and just add the keys above the function keys
The black widow 2012 was pretty good, I used it for 8 years. Clicky keys, but why was this not a mech?
Glad I still got mine Deathstalker Ultimate.
Lebedev Studio did one as well. Name's Optimus Keyboard
was thinking same thing. that was basically vaporware though wasnt it? i feel like i dont remember it ever actually making it to market.
leds in early keyboards were put there so you could see the keys in the dark.. Also Optimus Maximus was 2007 if you want an insane priced keyboard.
I wanted one of these when it came out... but the rubber dome switches made me stay away from it... I ended up with the blackwidow with blue switches back in the day because I just didn't want those switches.
The razer blade laptop also had those buttons and screen at that time
I still have one of those, but not the Ultimate version, just the normal one with the backlight, because there was one called "essential" without lit keys. Back then Razer called "essential" what they now call the "X" line.
Still love and use my Deathstalker keyboards...got one for home and work
The switch blade ui was one of the primary reasons I wanted a razer blade pro when it came out. I was also a child so you can imagine I never owned one.
Typing this with my og Deathstalker, so easy to type on. Just wish they would make an updated design
I really wanted one of these when they came out. Can't believe they never remade it.
Anyone remember the Mad catz STRIKE 7 keyboard? Mine lasted like what 5-8 years... Went through two different power supplies with it too.
I'm surprised ppl forgot about this. alongside the laptop they did this with!
Lmao I was confused by the title, I was like no way they did this again
isn't the wrist rest just deteoriating rubber?
3:55 What do oyu mean? Did you forgot the Big FPS boost of RGB?
I'd love to see a standalone version without the keyboard. I guess that would be like a streamdeck + touchscreen + trackpad combo
Man when I was looking for my first keyboard I almost got this. Wish they would make a version with mechanical bigger keys
Why not on the left side?
What's the difference between having an elgato streamdeck on your keyboard or just macro'ing your numpad to do the exact same thing?
I would buy a 2022 version of this immediately if they released it. This is really awesome. Surprised Corsair hasn't done this.
I feel like after this video, someone at corsair is gonna find out and pitch it lol
@@musiczheir we can only hope 🙏
Check out the Everest Max
stg gimmie an rgb version on the k70 platform and i think that this would prolly be the best keyboard of 2022 as long as they make the switches swapable
Prob trademarked tho
