Dude you missed VANDAL HEARTS ... timeless tactics rpg
Also, if you want generic ps1 startup, create shortcut, add -slowboot in properties at "target" text box at the end of what written there.
ABIDO* binyot
5:00 Vinny, as a meth addict i must inform you methland does not exist.
czcams.com/video/NL8WYd2MmEI/video.html
Vinny watch this shit. Iznogoud (pronounced Is-no-good) was an old cartoon and comic strip originating in France. The cartoon had a pretty good intro.
“I can make every single person here happy at all times”
You’re right, Vinny. All you have to do is start making raptor noises again.
speen
Wow I worked on The Mission, was my second project as a game dev in 2000. It was based on a tv ad for a new Nike football. So a game based on an ad based on a ball.
Louis-Philippe Guilbert Can i ask you a question? Why is so hard to kick the ball to the alarm box in that game? Wasn't their enough game testers for your project? Just curious, sorry if my comment sounds disrespectful in anyway :)
And who came up with this idea anyways? LOL
That I couldn't tell you... the programmers were on another continent. My team only did still images and the intro with the white van and the images of the players scrolling by.
Louis-Philippe Guilbert ah okay, very nice to meet one of the long time programmers to a super obscure PS1 game lol
Btw, how well did you think the sales did on this game? Or how did the reviewers fare on it and how'd you feel about it?
PS: You can speak English as well...
What an old mam
"Begone slots" why is that the most funniest thing i've heard ever i love vinesauce
It's funny that Vinny points out that the Sitting Ducks game looks exactly like a GBA game... Because that's exactly what it is. It's a port of the GBA version of sitting ducks, same graphics, same music, same SFX, everything is the exact same.
The only difference is higher resolution of the sprites.
Red wins
White stays in
*Come on Blue*
it's like every game on this list is stuck in quality limbo, where they're not bad enough to be considered sunday trash and not good enough to be considered... well, good
gotta say though the soccer spy game was pretty amazing at least
I just wish vinny actually tried to get the damn soccer ball from the line that was like 2-3 times as wide as the one he kept going into >_>
The 2D Karate game was definitely not in that limbo.
There was actually another lucky luke game on the PS1, it was a platformer interspeced with minigames, which suffered from a bad case of the Infogrames.
Infogrames was basically the dev company that handled all videogames adaptations of francobelgians comics, and their games were notorious for being faithful to the source material and overall pretty nice looking, but were also hard as balls.
Anyway, you guys should read Lucky Luke, it's a big love letter to westerns from one of the funniest french writers, Goscinny.
Firebugs is made by the same developers as Rollcage and Rollcage Stage 2 (ATD - Attention to Detail), which is why it seemed so familiar. It never got a US or JPN release for some unknown reason. It's also very very good.
Also in-game music didn't work because some games have CDDA tracks that probably didn't come with the collection, and this is one of them.
SteeScribbles Makes sense, I played the PC version of Rollcage (Which is different from the PS1 version!) and Firebugs looks like it plays almost the same.
Holy hell, the intro and menu for Firebugs gave me serious flashbacks. I must have played a demo of it as a kid and I completely forgot its existence until it came up.
That game actually looks pretty damn good. It got positive reviews, and I can see why.
Not only is it made by the same devs, I'm pretty sure it's part of the series and basically Rollcage 3... At least that's what I've understood. Not sure why it doesn't go by the Rollcage name tbh.
It reminded me of Extreme G, a series that I once loved and have wished they'd bring back for many years, but with tighter physics and handling.
The crazy thing about the sitting ducks game is that its a gba game ported to the ps1 and was released only in europe. There is a ps2 version thats basically a kids version of gta. Its also way better
"Scrote broken" I fucking exploded laughing.
Wait a minute, that slot machine game was made by Phoenix Games? Like "Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys" Phoenix Games?
Lammani yep!
why is it that whenever vinny starts playing something that seems remotely interesting he'll close it after 10 seconds
Cause scoot is not in it.
which ones were interesting?
@@ergoth154 despite this being in a different stream of Vinny's the game was called M&M Blast for the Gameboy color I think? Despite how shitty it looked 😭 I thought it was quite interesting since it's sooo clearly a Mario party ripoff, either that or all the bright colors just really entertain my dumb baby brain.
The Ecco the dolphin bootleg is like the Saturn version we never got
The Nintendo direct gave us: Dark Souls, Payday, The World Ends with You HD, I think you're gonna have to eat pant Vinny
Zoofus payday was already in a direct before, but yes Binyacht needs to eat pant
I'm surprised Vinny is oblivious to Phoenix Games, but in a way.
That's a blessing, they'd provide content for years. If with stolen assets, repetitive, cloned games..
8:39 Yeah, rub in it my face why don't you
Ubik is actually a really good Phillip K. Dick novel.
When he said "Where did you learn to fly?"
I thought "Elf practice" without meaning to...
I like how Lucky Luke is one of those rare 3D PS1 games that run at a high frame rate.
A painful bunch of shovel
Gotta love the 0 efforts that Vinny makes to fix the music
There were Adibou educational games for Windows. I actually enjoyed them quite a lot at school. We had to play it in my 1st year of school. I remember nearly crying once before because I wished so bad I was home playing Banjo-Kazooie instead though XD
Oh man, it’s been a while since I’ve seen Lucky Luke stuff. I didn’t know there was a game, either. Might have to look into it.
It's a shame the soundtrack didn't work for Firebugs because it's absolutely great.
"Best Game of 1986"
You're not that far off, Vinny...
I have never been so horrified... thank you for this Vinny, it is pure gold!
I actually remember "Music 2000". Had a lot of fun with that application back in the day.
that lucky luke ost is amazing
Ooooooooh boy. Phoenix Games.
Fun fact about Adiboo: the original title was a planned sequel to DKR called Kiddy Dong Racing, but only the plane part was left in from the original build.
Im startng to question the use of the term "Quality" in these streams, Vinny.
Do quality PS2 games with the weird and terrible Phoenix and Blast games
I'd love this. However PS2 emulating has even more quirks to work out even on a high spec PC for some reason
He did review Blast games with shovelware showcase.
Iznogoud is actually a pretty good comic
yes, but Iznogood isn't famous as Lucky Luke is
Oh god right in the childhood
IDK WHY I LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN I SAW VIRGIN.
I know I'm only 5 mins in but someone should make Vinny's game idea.
Problem is that it has to be great game design around the twist, otherwise it's a waste of effort
I'm american and I played lucky luke when I was 5 or something
I had petscop flashbacks at 1:12 in to it, those are the same sound effect. Or at least close enough to fool me.
vinny just found a whole bunch of games for caddicarus to review
[Vinesauce] Vinny - "Quality" PS1 Games
Sitting Ducks was my Jam, Loved that show.
They made a Ps2 Version as well that's like GTA for Kids.
Master Sashimi and then Lego City Undercover came that's also like a GTA for kids..! But it's okay, you're an undercover cop!
Between this, that, and The Simpsons: Hit and Run, that's 3 licensed games putting on their best GTA shoes.
8:32 It's not meth, it's just Burn Cycle flashbacks.
Ooooh I remember Fluid. Specifically, I remember having no clue what to do in it. But I do remember that pressing select near the water's surface made you jump out I think. It was just a little cinematic thingy.
Neato Vinny!
.cue and .bin files work differently in certain cases, like if the in game music is played off tracks as if it were a CD, then the .cue file should play it, since it's needed to locate the 'tracks' from the ISO file. .bin files work regularly, loading the entire game into RAM, hence why it might take a while for a game to boot up, and sometimes will lack in game music.
regretti, regretti, somebody touch-a mah spaghetti
holy hell i had a demo for that fluid/ecco the dolphin thing as a kid and it absolutely mystified me back then and all this time i thought i'd made it up
1:37:20 yeah, 'The mission" is actually based on an old ad for a ball or whatever. So that's why it's so weird & bad.
Agent Armstong is the Dark Souls of Metal Slug.
that karate game though...the noises and sounds sound like the PS1's soundcard is tearing apart in a black hole in the deepest depths of space
26:18 Funny you say at as this game is actually a remake of a sequel to a 1986 game called International Karate.
The animation in the shaolin intro was surprisingly awesome. Weird faces, but great moves.
1:40:17 Quintessential Vinny: playing a game with bad controls that makes him look like an idiot. I love this side of Vinny, because it's so pure. We've all been there, sometimes with a friend who's like "just jump over it".
Well Vinny finally plays Shoot.
Wow, I know a lot of these games from my childhood. Games that I had forgotten I even played. I'm not sure if I welcome those memories.
love how it looked like the agent armstrong guy had short shorts on, i kept getting so confused before realizing his pants were just flesh colored
Red Dead Redemption sure took a strange turn.
Some of these games really look super legit! I wouldn't be against real guality game compilations sometimes, to discover a few hidden gems!
the soundtrack to Fluid sounds like a Four Tet album had a stroke
e: hadn't watched to the part where it was revealed to be a music tracker, now I'm kinda curious what it's capable of
seeing the adiboo game was surreal since i still have an old windows 95 era copy of a pc game starring the same character i played as a kid but virtually no information about it exists online so it's like seeing my own personal internet cryptid suddenly show up after 20 years
I think I vaguely remember the Taxi movies. No idea why. Maybe I stumbled across it during the time I studied French in secondary school for a bit.
Kinda the reason why I like these PS1 streams. They usually unlock some distant memory from the dusty vault inside my head.
quality
of what measure
continue watching the stream to find out
these games can provide content for Caddicarus (aka British Jontron) for a decade
1:23:18 Am I like the only person who remembers this show?
Jesus Christ, that first game gives me the NOSTALGIA FEELS
My OCD was going haywire when vinny skipped the coin trail in the ally in the sitting duck game
God I remember having the Lucky Luke demo back then
PSx/ one was a Brit thing. I love the console, but the English completely fucked it up / made a few amazing gems that set what the PlayStation is known for. Dear Lord. The first game.
Firebugs was made by the same people that did Rollcage. It also was supposed to have music, its soundtrack was actually very good.
Yes! Where do you find these games? They look fun to play, even if they are supreme quality lol
Biimiiki hey if you wanna give them a try here's the pack I've made for this stream: drive.google.com/file/d/1E5Kq_yIxIEvu3M86Ug9iF7LdI_I4jqAF/view
DSwizzy Taylor you're awesome. Thanks!
Some folks make a list of games and then send that list to Vinny.
Biimiiki No problem! :-) have fun!
1:35:56 Here's a visual demo of how bad the Playstation's texture warping is!
I remember loving Fluid. Some of the music was great, and at the age I was at the time, I'd never heard music like it anywhere else. Also had Music 2000, and played it loads... probably would not enjoy going back and listening to what I'd made.
Aren't those DJ Gismo and B.O.W. from the Bomfunk MC's in Firebugs?
Yes they are
Hey vinny, the lack of music might be cause a lot of early PS1 rom rippers did this shitty thing where they dumped the music tracks to save on space. The game would still run without giving errors once it couldn't locate the ost.
2:37 ya YEET
I got an ad for the Nintendo CZcams channel on this video.
thank you vinny for appreciating semi-decent ps1 games and standing up for what's right
International karate looks more like a Master System game than a PS1 game.
The assassins ship looked like the one from "flight of the navigator"
Holy cow I have the Adiboo game! So many (mediocre) memories...
Adiboo was actually a pretty popular educational game franchise where I live (too lasy to search where its from but I imagine it to be french since the bee guy in the cutscene said "ouille" which is the french equivalent of "ouch").
It probably was only released in Europe as its most likely unknown elsewhere.
hey yeah it was made by a french studio, coktel vision
its actually a full series that has like spinoffs and all, it was kinda big in the 90s in france? and then it just disappeared along with the studio that kept doing those games
Little disappointed Vinny skipped past the goofy-ass menu music in Sitting Ducks, which I only know about because there's a streamer who has it as a notification sound but it keeps getting faster and I love it
Playing the same shooty plane game six times over really got to him because Guardian on the Darkness actually seemed interesting and he was just not going to give it a chance.
Have ya tried “Team Buddies”? I loved that Game in the PSX.
i lost it at "broke back luke"
I had Music 2000 as a kid. I figured Vinny might have gotten a few laughs out of it.
You literally walked right past the last 4 tokens on sitting ducks...
I think agent armstrong potentially could have been a great game if not for the awkward dimensional aspect. I got to give it to them though for been ambitious but would have just been easier and better to make a 2d contra clone with some unique tweaks.
Iznogoud had his own game? Man, this does _not_ do his cartoon justice. Then again, most tv-licensed games never did.
haha Vinny dude, you are so chill. How did you became so cool?
21:36 - This was developed by the same people that developed Rct3
*Why*
Agent Armstrong is the first British indie PS1 game made
Early Viewer Gets A Slice.
Holy shit, wasnt Iznogoud a cartoon from the 90's?
I think I fucking rented that Lucky Luke game as a kid, it looks so familiar somehow.
Holy shit the kid in the Adiboo game sounds exactly like Bubsy.
OH CRAP I HAD A DEMO OF THAT FIREBUGS GAME! MEMORIES!!!
Wtf Iznogoud has a videogame??
And I owned that Lucky Luke game!!! It was ok
Vinny complaining about the material. That's not fair to call out that person like he did
am I the only one who thought the enemy death noise in the second one kinda sounded like loud nigra?
Adiboo? I've played, like 2 or 3 different Adiboo games when I was around 10!
