That's only story. Fact that it did not happened in real history. If only Mariko's character was based on Gracia Hosokawa. She had never left Osaka and died at couple's resident in Osaka. Her husband fought with Toranaga (Tokugawa) and lived until 85 years old

Ochiba is a former master of 5 reagents, a niece and her younger sister married into Toranaga's son.
No, Ochiba is just the mother to the heir. And Consort to the late Taiko. While the reagents listen to her, she makes no decisions.
Regent =/= Reagent.
Lady Ochiba is the character for Lady Yodo (aka, O'chacha) who was a concubine of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. She was also a niece of Oda Nobunaga. Her younger sister, Lady Oeyo (or Ogo) married to Tokugawa Ieyasu's son/heir, Hidetada. Hideyoshi did have an official wife, Lady Kita, but they did not have any children together. Though officially she may not have any real power, being the mother of the future Regent meant she was of high position and one to be respected. I've seen her character being portrayed in many Japanese period films as conniving and hot tempered.
Blackthorn could not leave Japan even if he was allowed to leave. Remember the beginning of the first episode? Blackthorn's ship got to Japan with only 10 men. That ship had over a hundred men when it left the Netherlands. How could ten men sail her half way around the world with Portuguese trying to capture or kill them every step of the way?
Obviously he’s not going anywhere, but if he really wanted to with Blackthornes skill and determination as a pilot, he could manage. There’s methods of sailing like that with a small skeleton crew

I doubt there would have been months of a time skip. After what happened to Ishido's men, would have meant immediate conflict.
Maybe, but an immediate response would be difficult for Ishido being all the way in Osaka, plus all the time it'd take for him to gather his army. And i don't think Blackthorne would be asking to leave & for his men back until he fulfilled his obligation. Plus we have no idea how much time passed in this episode too. They returned to that field to train multiple times & if Toranaga's son being able to accurately use the cannons without Blackthorne's help would is any indication, they've already had a good amount of training.
I think base on historical fact, the heir mother is relative of the previous shogun, and concubine to the taiko the right hand man of the previous shogun took power, the title shogun was not given to him due to fact he came from commoner blood line..Mariko family is a disgrace samurai blood line for her father or grandfather rebel and assinated the previous reigning shogun.
Yes, in the real history Ochiba is based on Yodo-No-Kata who was the niece of Oda Nubanaga the former Shōgun whom Tokugawa Ieyasu (Toranaga) & Hideyoshi (the taiko) both served.
I don`t think Ochiba is on the side of the regents...If those have their way, they would kill her son and seize power for themselves.
Not necessarily, that was only a concern if Toransga would’ve been named soul regent. Which is why they created the council. And ochiba certainly isn’t on Toranaga’s side. She’ll be cozying up to Ishido, for now.

Two errors here, it was Ochiba's pregnant sister who was considered as a hostage by Ishido in Toronaga's fief, Ochiba wasn't hostile towards Toronaga who was trusted with her son protection and education.
Ochiba's sister was there giving birth yes, but Ochiba herself remained in Edo when Toranaga went to Osaka in order to guarantee his safety. The show was pretty clear on explaining that & its even in Ochiba's official character description on the shows main website. She was essentially a hostage to guarantee Toranaga's safety.

episode previews ? why, just why ? It's one a week so I want to wait. I don't want to watch the previous series again and I don't need reminded of the real story or what happens in the next episode.
