I’ll be honest and say I never heard this song from John Prine before, WOW, what a tune. I’m a sucker for sad songs, I Iove this so much I’ve had to CZcams everything about John Prine, what an amazing songwriter. Lovely lesson Joe, I will strive to get this in my repotoir. 👏👏👏👏
John wrote this to commentate the addiction related passing of the son of his dear friend the mayor of Nashville. John’s video for the song was done with his own son accompanying him on the guitar
Thanks joe Really like your approach I have used covid as my reason to learn to play. This finger style breakdown has helped my tremendously. I have been a fan of john prine for year’s.John was so masterful with simple tones and awesome sounds only fitting to pay tribute to him! Ty

Great lesson. But I'm confused. In the intro at 4:45 it seems you are showing 3 bass notes in a row on the Em. Is that right? 6 and 2 pinch, then 4th, then back to 6th with no treble notes in between?

Welcome Mike
Joe...are you recording guitar and voice separately? Sounds good
really great lesson, what guitar is that ? it looks and sounds very beautiful !
For posterity, I *think* Joe's playing the Martin 000-28EC (Eric Clapton signature). A beauty, for sure.
Love it…only complaint, not using string names…second and top I guess are A and E
