WASD camera movement took my interest after reviewing one if my games as PL and tried to analyze how each and every one played. I saw one opponent, the sniper, and saw that he moved his camera in a unique manner. I found out he was using WSAD (or prolly using the keyboard and not the mouse to pan the camera)
wasd camera made camera control easy when I was new, but missing 4 important possible buttons to bind to does suck a bit, I found 5 and 6 a bit far for my hand on heroes with extra spells so I have them on mouse4,5, which can be a bit clunky sometimes.
I just reached Ancient 1 after 8000 games, i was 100% blaming me and helping everyone and being super positive... i wonder what i lack to reach Divine now..
As a few hundred mmr above you 4.3k, I would say, we lack the understanding of power spikes and item timings. That will give us a good idea on when and how to move around the map, as well as navigate fights better.
Asa Total War and other strategy game player, WASD camera movement along with camera grip on middle mouse is engraved in me and since Dota 2 beta I've played like this. I am casual but I have more fun with this way of playing. I however use F for "force attack" and V to hold position. Space I use for self select and if you tap it twice and hold, it follows you. Good for when you want to focus on your hero after respawning or you get surprise engaged by a blinker. Q, E, R for first row of items, Z, X, C for 2nd row of items. It makes perfect sense to my brain. Abilities are 1-5 and ultimate is Mouse 4. Neutral item Mouse 5. Courier deliver items mouse_wheel_up and TP is, T as in Teleport. I don't have quick cast on by default but by hold and release and I play all heroes and map them accordingly to who I play. G for Glyph and B to Buy a TP. Tab to open shop. Capslock for voice (that I hardly use) and the tilde key is for emotes and for fun. F1 to F5 are group select buttons mainly used on heroes like Meepo. Figured I'd share my keybindings too since I doubt any pro players use WASD keys because they are so used to edge pan. I dislike it a lot since I never got into games like SC professionally and I like to have full control over my camera at all times.
Using wsad to move my cam ever since dota mod on wc3 so its like ~17 years now. Tru all these years only had 1 issue with it, trying to move the cam while casting wombo combo quickly sometimes does mess up with your invoking...
Double tap ability to selfcast is really useful and u should start using it. If u press the same keybinded button twice it will for example heal u without having to target urself. For example with omniknight heal. Also right click allies to deny is useful for denying u just have to right click the mob ;)
finally! i find someone that plays like i do mooving the camera with wasd :D

I put 2 inventory slots on my m4 and m5, for anything you can just press. Like my wand is always on m4
wow I cant imagine playing like that...since 2012 I play with qwer for speels, muscle memory!

I love quickcasts! Some people sleep on it. But I don't use quickcast on dark willow "q", cause i feel like its hard to lend properly hehe

Do you also have like a bug where the camera sometimes keeps moving in one direction with WASD on itself?
Ich spiel auch mit 1,2,3 und 4 als Spells. Hätte ich hier nicht erwartet. ;)

You can use alt+hotkey to do it
possible to accidentally do this, which is why some don't use it
He said that he's using quickcast, that's why he's not using double tap
