I've yet to see a single streamer do even surface research on Japan before going. The atm/cash thing gets everyone, but it's also one of the first things you'd learn in a top 5 tips on trip advisor or some random travel site.
It's more fun to go on the adventure unprepaired. You'd prepair a bare minimum going yourself but watching someone else it can be even less without being a problem for yourself and streamers are all about entertainment.
Exactly, I found this out the hard way. I thought Japan being a first world economy, cashless transactions is the standard. But nope, like africa everything is cash based first.
I was very apprehensive about carry boat load of cash in my pocket everywhere but then I remembered japan have one of the lowest crime rate in the world. People dont even blink twice if you carrying stacks of 10,000 yen in your pocket. Do that in the US, it's not the pickpockets that will steal your cash, the police will do that openly.
Trip advisor, yelp ,is for people who don't like adventures.....the unexpected is part of the journey

Omg i am so sorry for you i myself has been there and had a wonderful experience. I thought everyone would enjoy even on small budget. When coming back i still always miss everyone i encounter and everything i eat or buy there. Its a perfect country for traveling only if someone not in mood beautiful stuff become plain n boring
