Yes, my asset manager advised I spread further into mutual funds and crypto Etf and boy am I glad I did. The whole idea is: Don’t get too greedy and also to exit at the right time, so generally I do find having an adviser very helpful, because what Avg. I’ve been in crypto since 2011. And this kind of behavior (sweet talk + deflection) has been everywhere. As said in the documentary, many are politically (almost religiously) very libertarians. Their political thinking starts and stops around themselves. Even the deflection is selfish (satoshi’s quote “you don’t understand, I don’t have time”). The truth is they don’t care about equality or equity or even society at large. They don’t want to spend time thinking about those topics.
They pretend to be politically savvy. Where the truth is that they just wrapped their childish selfishness in paper and wrote “crypto anarchy” or “libertarianism” on it. Level zero of political thought.

Except you do get taxed on "Taxable events" like when your trade from one coin to another and managed to make a profit in the trade. She already explained that it's no different to if you trade stocks, bonds or other assets.
The point is that anytime you choose to interact with the government, through their currencies, you will need to be taxed as such. I am really not sure where the no tax narrative came from.

A democratizing factor about bitcoin is, it's worth more when it's more spread out to more people. If one person owned all the bitcoins, it'll be worth virtually nothing.
But if one person owned all the cash wouldn't that also be worth nothing as it would lose all meaning, the value comes from it still being centralised exactly like cash with some people having it and other people not having any and without any means of accessing it.

You realise how outdated our current financial system is? The system we still send and receive money is based on 50 year old tech. Can take days to even weeks just to send money especially overseas and costs are astronomical.

Bitcoin is a scam, not crypto as a whole. Bitcoin has no utility and is not scalable. Bitcoin is only relevant because we are still in a speculative market, NOT one driven by utility.
Crypto and blockchain exists to streamline our outdated payments infrastructure and Bitcoin may be the fire starter, but it is now hopelessly outdated and worthless in a utility sense.
Bitcoin won’t die, but it won’t be as dominant in a utility based market.

Crypto does not rely on more investors, it relies on aqcuiring more cash. Your definition would make stocks a pyramid scheme as well.
Pyramid schemes solely rely on more investors as the investors are required to pay entree fees and are then promised bonuses for recruitng new investors.
A single person can pump the value of a coin, but that isn't the case with pyramid schemes.

Conversation held in the 2nd half was FASCINATING. Everything about the dynamic between full on enthusiast/someone who wakes up everyday in that world vs. someone who is just seeking to understand it properly was so interesting to watch. I think the word "smugness" is a little to strong to describe her demeanor but it's very reminiscent of someone who is tired of trying to convince you to buy something at their store in hopes that it will become a luxury product if that makes sense. Crypto is only as real as people decide it is and the collective effort by enthusiasts to attempt to make everyone else feel "too late to the party" to me feels like a strategic attempt to CREATE the party, you know?
