You could tell Cloud's ZMC team is far more superior in paper compared to Champ's Phoenix team. He doesn't need to save 5 bars, has a free comeback character in the form of Vergil, an anti-air assist (which Champ's characters all fly) and a point character who can OCKO any character in the game given enough meter. Considering how Champ needs to protect his meter from side TACs, Cloud can also abuse the down TACs to gain meter. His team is better in each and every way. Wonder why Champ still plays Jean, but it's nice how he has some character loyalty :-)
i honestly think he still plays jean because like you said its character loyalty. He just really likes her, he makes her work better than a lot of people, even his normal phoenix aint no joke, but if he wasn't loyal to the character he could have been replaced her / just stuck to his dorm team.
Though I can see what you are saying I simply don't agree. Champ's team has an incredibly solid fullscreen neutral game that in half the games tore apart Cloud's ZMC. The weakness in ZMC is that compared to Champs team it lacks mobility. Even with the anti-air assist it is a challenge for Cloud to land it because A) Magneto can call assists while flying, thus Doom can shoot Dante at any given point B) Magneto while flying can plink dash which will outrun all of Zero's maneuvers. Zero's best get in tool against this team is to jump, H lightning and buster, then call Dante, but a player as quick as Champ will see this and have time to land and dash behind Zero immediately putting Zero back into the neutral game that he loses. Both teams are pretty optimal so honestly, it isn't superior in either teams favor. The one thing to take into consideration is most games when Zero goes down, Champ will rush down Vergil and take him out creating the 3v1 situation which Dante isn't very good in. If Champ gets the first kill it often (not always) means game for Cloud. On the flipside, Doom/Phoenix are so synergous with long combos and meter gain that even when Cloud gets Magneto out of the game, Champ still has a strong chance to win. Just my 2 cents.
So Jean isn't really even considered a good character? Because everytime Champ's in Phoenix mode or whatever after his first life bar, everyone he touches melts away. It's a serious question I've been wondering.
That's because he's so agile with her. She's the most mobile character in the entire game, and she's definitely not bad - she's a very good character in theory. The two things that keep her from being a metagame standard (overused) are her health and her inferiority to other anchors like Strider (who has one of the best assists) and Vergil (self-explanatory). It's harder than it looks, to get Jean to Dark Phoenix in tournaments! I mean look at those snapbacks with insane mixups! And other anti-Phoenix tech!
DeluxStart a lot of players nowdays just see dark phoenix as a Vergil with a bunch of requirements attached ..she isn't bad..her function in the game was just taken over by Vergil.
I remember I was there at SCR and put a good amount of money on Cloud and nobody mentioned to me about the win by 2. So when Cloud got 15, I popped off then everyone was like bro it’s win by 2, sad times lol

I never thought I'd be cheering for a Dante and Virgil user. But, the amount of cheese involved in a team of Magneto, Doctor Doom, and Phoenix... Fuck that.
Oh, you can use the same 100+ combo between Dr. Doom and Magneto over and over again? Congratufuckinglations. Every single Dr. Doom/Magneto player. It's just that one fucking combo over and over. At least other characters have a variety of combos that people utilize.

noshoestrey Zak Bennet has a disgusting Doom. I really like Marlinpie's Doom and Bennet's is the closest thing to it in terms of style. Additionally, it's really different from Marlins.
Your comment shows a lot of ignorance. You don't always have to do a different combo just for the sake if doing it. Haven't you heard of "tournament combos"? It's best to keep everything simple, the player doesn't care if you get bored of watching. By saying that you're taking credit away from people who play mag/doom, you might as well say that to everyone who plays top tiers. Also, mag/doom has a high skill cap and their metagame is hard to master. (neutral game)

ft15 (win by 2) is not the same as ft15... (15-13 would be winning the set, 15-14 is not 2 ahead, so they keep playing until there is a 2 wins difference)
If they agreed to it before the match, there is nothing wrong with the result
I think Bruce was talking about how the score was Cloud 8 - 10 Champ and the next match it was Cloud 9 - 12 Champ.

Because he isn't helpless after Zero is gone. Most Zero players are only good with Zero, and once he's gone, they kinda struggle, Cloud, however is a beast with Dante, best Dante since Yipes.
***** Yipes never had a good Dante. He was just the most well known Dante. His Dante, he admits to this, is ass. Cloud makes Dante look good but in reality Dante is so hard to do anything with.

Dante isn't a high tier character, in a game where high tiers matter a lot. Before Cloud came along, Yipes was the only Dante doing damage at Tournaments. He stopped playing it for less execution heavy characters. Plus, lol at his Dante never being good from you. You clearly haven't seen his Dante in action.
God I love watching Cloud play Dante. There wouldn't happen to be any competitions or tourneys that do 1v1s in this game where Cloud is using his Dante would there?
Wow the skill and talent in this game is getting out of control. The combos, teams, reactions, and reads are on a whole other level compared to when vanilla MvC3 came out, or even when Ultimate first came out.

i keep telling people fchamp literally makes his living on first to 15ing people. the longer the set the higher than chance fchamp will win, because unfortunately for some, fchamp is an extremely consistent player which goes a looong way in a game like marvel. idk who proposed the win by 2 condition but cloud pretty much lost of it again because the longer the set the more fchamp wins.
fchamp even said it himself that he would would win evo more often if the sets were a ft15 instead of ft3.
a lot of people are here complaining about tiers and how its the same characters over and over. and yes, i used to get bored of it but some need to appreciate the high level play here. yes these teams are boring but the players arent. if it was any other ZMC player or any other mag doom phoenix player, say, flux vs neo, i wouldnt be watching. pay attention to how they play, instead of who they pick.

Just wanted to share that zero is harder to combo not only cuz of his hitbox but because hes very floaty. You have to delay combos for him which makes less than optimal confirms very hard to convert to full damage

It’s funny one of my favorite sets between two high lvl players. But it forever highlighted how much of a punk champ was, never heard of win by two before this set.
Cloud is the only zmc player I like he cam actually make the team look fun it's more then just using only zero....other zmc players fail to understand that

Cloud is an awesome, awesome player, but this is literally the WORST I've EVER seen him play. Ever. He does 20x better on any given runback again Clockwork/Infrit whomever.
He was making so many poor decisions and dropping so many combos that it really seemed like nerves got to him. And still though, he made it to 15 before Champ.

Cloud had all his characters left with 5 seconds on the clock. PC recognized he couldn't possible win the match with the time left so he just took a break.
