It has to be said, up front, that Padre Island is not for everyone. It is isolated, famously undeveloped and requires camping from rudimentary to luxurious land yachts. My son and I spent 4 days here in December, 2017.
On the plus side, it is beautifully austere and natural. The Kemp's Ridley turtles and care needs to be seen. Bird-watching, not my forte, was extraordinary. Take the guided bird tour from the visitors center. Saw a Great Blue Heron up close & personal and watched a shrike outrun a perigrine falcon.
You do need to carefully plan what you need to bring. It is remote. Don't expect all of the campers to be welcoming.
Overall, a must-see natural barrier island. Enjoy!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge of the area. 😊
A few years ago we spent two weeks at Goose Island State Park and two weeks at Mustang Island State Park. Really enjoye it, but you could watch the rust form on everything!
We have never seen rust show up that fast! We will be better prepared next time. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful paradise! My happy place! thank you for sharing this great video.
Our pleasure. Enjoyed beach living!
Have similar experiences at both Mustang & Padre. Thanks. Enjoyed.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
Very informative. Thank you. safe travels
Thanks!
Great content, looks like a place I would like to visit.
Thank you! We loved it!
I enjoyed the video.... have blessed travels
Thanks guys! Will we see you in Quartzsite in January?
@@RoamingWithRosie no ,I'm working again for a few years . Still making camping videos though. Have a great time traveling and we pray we can pull out again in 25
R.I.P BRUCE AND MICHELLE BUTLER. Rv couple that retired early and worked and traveled with their fur babies. They were murdered here. I never forget them.
That was terrible. My friend actually camped right near them and met them just before that happened. Unfortunately you have to keep your guard up. You never know what someone is capable of.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks guys for the Beautiful video and the Beautiful views we thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved watching Dexter enjoy the water, omg, so cute! >Merton 😎✌👌
Thank you! Dexter couldnt understand that it tasted bad. But he did have fun.
I like it. We are planning on going to Texas next New Years. Not quite sure where we are aiming though
Thanks, Texas is a big place and there is a lot to see. I know we are definitely going to explore more. Safe Travels and thanks for watching!
Do you remember the location of that car wash with the sprayer in the outside of a bay?
Yes. In Port Aransas.
I enjoyed your series on the Texas Gulf coast. It's my most favourite place in the world. You see I grew up going there every summer. Mostly to Port A. But we also visited Malaquite Beach ( Mala-key) quite often.
There used to be a large restaurant and gift shop there along with showers and restrooms. One of the Hurricanes wiped it out so now it is as you saw it.
Dave and I never camp on the beach in our RV because of the sand and wind and you never know when the tide may wind up near the dunes and leave you in the gulf. October is a good month to visit there. Also in August the water and beaches are at their finest! Even though the temperature is not. Just a tie but of info from a native Texan. Thanks for the very cool video!
Thank you. And for the correct pronunciation. I thought it was like the stone. We did see that October seems to be the best time of year, but hurricanes could still show up. It does seem to be a hidden gem down there in Texas. Sometimes I think about keeping these secrets. LOL. Also, Did you see that the end of the last 2 episodes we showed how to find comments. Your comment is the one we showed on both. Hope that's ok.
@@RoamingWithRosie our hidden gem is no longer a secret. The coast has been overflowing with visitors since 2020. Hurricanes are quiet this year, but you have to keep up with the weather any where you go, right?
@@daveanddeb5629 which exactly do you feel is the hidden gem? Thanks
Helpful video. We just retired and are headed to Texas later this Fall and Winter in our Class A motorhome. Since you covered Padre, Corpus Christy and Mustang what is your favorite? We boondock and use RV Parks. I plan to do a little of both. Thanks!
Don't know if you watched the preceding episode, but our actual favorite was just north of there, Magnolia Beach. Being able to drive a big class A right onto the beach, close to the water was awesome. We didnt spend much time in Corpus Christi & tourist stuff is definitly 2nd to nature for us. If we were going there in October, we might change that opinion. That's supposed to be the best time of year, if no hurricane shows up. Too much wind & damp salt air in the spring. We would spend the full allowed 14 days in Padre Island National Seashore in October. Stayed in 1 RV resort, packed in, noisy, expensive... all public areas were way better. Have a great trip!
I am in mustang iland and I rented a RV to!!!!
Great place to camp and so much to explore. Have a great time.
Thanks for watching!
❤
does the wind ever stop?
It depends on the time of year. Spring is typically windy.
Thanks for watching!
Sadly, like Florida, it sounds like Texas is another state that doesn’t focus much on saving the environment which brings value to the economy. These state parks look like great places to visit.
Having spent time in both places, I understand your point clearly. But there are plenty of people who keep trying to bring awareness.
Another awesome video 📹 I may have to watch all your videos 📹 😁 10K subscribers are on the way 😀 🏕
Thank you! Much appreciated!
