- Here is our version of 'Sweet Sixteen', originally written many moons ago in 1898 by James Thornton.
This song is incredibly nostalgic for a lot of Irish households ever since the great Finbar Furey adapted it in 1981 and created what is now regarded as one of the truly classic Irish ballads of our time.
Onóir recorded this music video in the famous Forge Bar in Donegal Town and we would like to extend our most sincere thanks to The Sweeney Family for letting us take over their legendary pub for the evening 💚.

This is my absolute favourite song. I’ve loved it for so many years. I never imagined it could be taken to another level. This guy is amazing. I’m sure I’m not the only one to fall in love with him as he sings this.
I first heard him sing this many many months ago on a reel which only lasted 30 seconds. I've have been trying to find his name and listen to him sing the full song since then. Imagine my surprise when I searched on CZcams again and I found it. I'm so so pleased. Fab voice x

I love your version of this it reminds me of my recently passed Dad. We used to sing together with my daughter and paid homage to our Irish roots with a whole set of traditional Irish songs- this had me in floods today- so beautifully crafted by you all. I just heard this on a PBS show about Irish food. It literally stirred something in my soul that I cannot put into words. Couldn’t deny my Celtic ancestry if I tried. It is in my DNA. Love, love, love this.
